{Chapter: 56 - War Legion And It's Knights}

Inside the dimly lit room of their temporary safehouse, Aiden leaned against a sleek black chair while Chan Ho Yin paced restlessly across the tiled floor.

"I wasn't exactly hiding," Chan Ho muttered. "But I also wasn't expecting you guys to pull me halfway across the world just to tell me I'm weak."

Aiden smirked slightly, amused but silent.

Chan Ho exhaled heavily, running a hand through his dark hair. "Look
there's something you should know. I'm not just some random guy with a parlor trick. I'm on the SHIELD LOST list."

Aiden raised an eyebrow but said nothing.

Chan Ho continued. "It's a registry. A global watchlist SHIELD keeps for enhanced individuals. Doesn't matter how big or small your powers are. If you're even slightly 'special,' they put your name down. They assign a field agent to monitor you from a distance. Check in with you. Make sure you're not a threat or
 being threatened."

"Sounds like a glorified parole officer," Marrow said from the side, unimpressed.

Chan Ho gave a bitter laugh. "You're not wrong. They never said it directly, but it always felt like a polite way of saying, 'We'll let you walk around free, but don't forget—we're watching.'"

Aiden finally spoke. "So what?"

That response caught Chan Ho off-guard. "So what? I just told you I'm basically being watched by one of the most powerful intelligence agencies on the planet!"

Aiden shrugged, casually brushing invisible dust from his sleeve. "That list you're so worried about? I'm on it. Blink is on it. Marrow's probably been on it since birth. Half the people with abilities are on it whether they know or not. Some of the most powerful beings on Earth
also listed. And you know what they do with that list?"

"Nothing," Aiden said flatly. "Because if you're strong enough
 they don't dare interfere."

Chan Ho blinked, still processing his words.

"You think the SHIELD list is power?" Aiden said, stepping forward, voice low and firm. "It's a leash. A reminder that they don't trust you. But if you follow me—if you really want strength—then you don't have to worry about any SHIELD agents. They'll have to go through me first."

His tone wasn't boastful. It was calm, matter-of-fact—like gravity stating its existence.

Chan Ho looked up at him. In Aiden's eyes there was no fear, no hesitation. Just certainty.

And for the first time in a long while, Chan Ho felt something loosen inside his chest—something tight and knotted that had lived there since his powers first awakened. He finally breathed.

"Alright," he said quietly. "Then
 how do I get stronger?"

Aiden gave him a faint smile. "Good. That's the right question."

He walked over and tapped Chan Ho's chest lightly with two fingers. "Your potential is already there. Your flame may be small, but it's real. You have something most people don't—something unique. We'll make that spark into a wildfire. You just need time
 and the right juice."

Aiden turned to Blink and Marrow, who were listening attentively.

"For now, you'll stick with them. Blink, Marrow—get him familiar with the basics. Let him see what kind of training we run, how we move, at least teach him how to punch and kick He's one of us now."

Blink nodded, brushing a strand of violet hair behind her ear. "We'll take care of him."

"Good," Aiden said, then looked at Blink more seriously. "One more thing. We need a bigger base."

"A bigger base?" she repeated.

"Our numbers are small now," Aiden admitted. "But I don't plan on staying small. We'll be growing fast. I'll be bringing in others—like Chan Ho. People lost, abandoned, or hunted. Misfits. Monsters. Heroes. Doesn't matter. If they're ready to fight for me for something greater, they'll join us."

He handed her a small chip. "I already sent you a file that contains access to several safehouse networks and property leads. Use it. I'm leaving soon. You'll handle the groundwork."

Blink blinked. "Wait—you're leaving?"

"You're going somewhere without us?" Marrow asked, frowning.

Aiden nodded. "There's something I need to take care of. Dangerous territory. You'd only get hurt if you came with me."

"But we're a team now," Blink said, her voice dropping. "Shouldn't we follow you?"

Aiden's voice softened. "You'll follow me soon enough. But only after you've grown stronger. That's how you help me—by surviving, and becoming someone I can rely on."

Blink looked down, then clenched her fists. "Alright. We'll train. We'll get stronger. I promise."

Marrow placed a hand on Chan Ho's shoulder. "Looks like you're part of the family now, fire boy."

"I'm honored, I think," Chan Ho chuckled nervously.

Just then, Marrow turned to Aiden. "Before you go
 we need a name."

Aiden paused, then looked back at them with a glint in his eyes.

"We'll call ourselves the War Legion, you will be it's Knights" he said with quiet pride. "Because the battles ahead won't be few. This life—this fight—it never ends. Not for people like us."

Marrow nodded slowly. "War Legion
has a ring to it. Knights? Sounds like a medieval version of a boy band to me!"

"It's not just a name," Aiden said. "It's a vow. No matter what comes—doubt, fear, enemies, gods—we won't back down."

"Life is endless
and so is the fight," Blink whispered, echoing the words like an oath.

Chan Ho, for the first time, felt like he belonged. Surrounded by strangers just hours ago, he now stood among something greater—something that felt like destiny.

Aiden crossed his legs and leaned into the old couch, letting out a light sigh as he spoke with a grin, "The money I'm giving you is for operational use. Consider it a temporary fund to support our activities. Since you've chosen to follow me, I won't be stingy with resources."

As he spoke, a shimmering ripple appeared in the air beside him. With a casual flick of his wrist, a thick stack of money materialized out of thin air and landed neatly into his palm. The bills were crisp, wrapped in bands from various banks, their edges sharp and unbent.

He handed the money over to Blink, who stared in astonishment at the amount—six hundred and ten thousand U.S. dollars.

"Wha
this much?" she gasped, both hands trembling slightly as she accepted the sum. The weight of the cash made her realize just how serious Aiden was.

"It's not enough to build a fortress or anything fancy," Aiden admitted with a smirk. "But for scouting, networking, and securing supplies. it's more than enough. Also don't forget to go on a shopping streak buy some clothes and other necessities for each of you. Consider it a seed fund. Use it wisely."

Blink nodded, still a bit overwhelmed. Especially when she heard of word shopping streak. "I will. Thank you, Aiden."

"Put it away," he said with a sudden shift in tone, his voice quieter now. His eyes narrowed as he turned toward the front of the building. "And get ready to greet some unexpected guests."

Just as Blink tucked the money into a small bag, the tension in the air thickened. Aiden's senses were razor-sharp. A subtle vibration traveled through the wooden floorboards beneath their feet—heavy boots stomping in unison.

Boom!

The metal door to their room exploded off its hinges with a deafening crack, slamming against the wall like a steel gong. Smoke and dust filled the air as a squad of heavily armed men rushed into the room, weapons raised and fingers trembling near the triggers.

The sudden intrusion made Chan Ho flinch, instinctively shielding his face with his arms. He'd never seen such a bold, militarized raid in his life, even on tv.

Blink reacted immediately, her instincts honed through survival. She raised her arms and conjured violet crystal shards from the air, each one gleaming like frozen blades of starlight. They hovered around her, aimed and ready to be launched at a moment's notice.

Marrow's bones cracked audibly as she growled, her eyes narrowing. Bone daggers erupted from her forearms, slicing through her skin as if her body welcomed the transformation. With a sickening sound, the blades detached from her body, transforming into deadly weapons she gripped with practiced ease.

But Chan Ho stood frozen—not out of fear, but confusion. His heart was pounding, and he had no idea what to do. He didn't have combat training, and this was the first time he had ever been caught in the middle of such chaos. Still, he didn't panic. Something about Aiden's presence kept him grounded.

And Aiden?

He didn't even stand up.

Still lounging on the couch, he stared lazily at the intruders, completely unfazed.

"You know," Aiden said, voice calm and tinged with amusement, "where I'm from, it's considered incredibly rude to break into someone's home without knocking. Worse still to not even introduce yourselves. No class at all."

One of the men at the front—clearly the squad leader—stepped forward and shouted, "Shut up! You're the one who took Chan Ho Yin without warning. Who the hell do you think you are? What are your intentions?!"

Aiden's expression didn't change. "First of all," he said evenly, "Chan Ho is not your property. He came with us of his own free will. He's not a prisoner. You don't get to claim ownership over someone just because you were assigned to 'monitor' them. Second, pointing loaded weapons at my friends and barging into our home? That's not just impolite—it's asking for trouble."

He slowly raised his right hand and closed his fingers into a fist.

Suddenly, the air trembled. A wave of invisible force swept through the room. The weapons held by the intruders vibrated, then wrenched themselves free from their owners' hands with a metallic screech. The soldiers gasped in shock as their guns hovered in the air, suspended by an unseen power.

Then, like a whirlwind had passed through, the weapons spun violently and were hurled across the room. Several of the men stumbled back, arms flailing, completely caught off guard.

Chan Ho's jaw dropped. His eyes widened with disbelief. So he can do more than just control flames
? he thought. Just what kind of power does Aiden have?

Aiden stood now, slowly, his presence commanding.

"You boys need to learn some manners," he said coldly. "This is your first and last warning. Next time, you won't be walking out."

The squad leader's face turned red with anger, but there was nothing he could do. The guns were now floating again, slowly orbiting above them, their barrels now pointed downward toward the intruders.

Clack. Clack.

Each firearm clicked ominously as they readied, aimed, and prepared to fire.

The room fell silent. Not a single one of the armed men dared to move.

"You think you can threaten us like this?" the leader spat, trying to mask the fear in his voice.

"I'm not threatening you," Aiden said smoothly. "I'm promising you. Next time you want to talk, you knock. You don't bring weapons into my home."

He stepped closer, the quiet pressure of his presence making the air heavy.

"You're lucky I'm in a good mood today."
