Chapter 56 - Chapter 56

Chapter 56:

The platinum dragon exhaled, carving a clear path through the sky with a sweeping breath.

Dozens of death birds and plague bats disintegrated instantly. Yet despite their losses, the creatures showed no fear. They screeched in fury, venom spewing from their gaping maws.

Lin Bai ignored the flood of experience notifications. Running a hand along Ying Tian's smooth, mirror-like scales, he grinned.

"Well done. Don't hold back—this is the perfect place to level up. Have fun."

For the soul masters on the ground, the approaching beast tide was a nightmare. But for an apex predator like Ying Tian, it was a warm-up.

"Hmmmm!"

Ying Tian let out an eager rumble. Out in the world, it was bound by rules. Here in the dungeon, it could finally unleash its full strength without restraint.

After all, the dragon carried the bloodline of both the World-Devouring Dragon and the World-Destroying Dragon. Destruction was its nature.

With a sharp inhale, Ying Tian activated the unique organs in its chest.

Destruction Dragon Breath.

A gray-black torrent of energy erupted from its maw, sweeping over the battlefield in a wide cone. Wherever it landed, monsters vanished without a trace. No corpses remained, no blood splattered—just nothingness.

If not for the cooldown, Ying Tian could've ended the entire beast tide in minutes.

Even so, the display left everyone speechless.

Gulp.

A chorus of nervous swallows rippled through the ranks. Many had coveted the dragon before, but that desire evaporated instantly. A creature like this wasn't meant to be controlled.

Oscar's voice trembled.

"Dai—Boss… you think he's gonna roast us for flirting with his girlfriend?"

Dai Mubai's expression wavered, but he forced a smirk.

"Relax… Teacher Zhao's here. Right? Teacher Zhao, you can handle that dragon, can't you?"

Zhao Wuji snorted, rubbing his bald head.

"Hmph. Don't drag me into your mess. You lot brought this on yourselves. Frankly, with how you've been acting since this dungeon appeared, a bit of hardship's what you deserve."

"Huh!?"

Ma Hongjun blinked, lost. Why was he getting punished too? …Oh. Right. Never mind.

"Tch. So unfair."

Xiao Wu crossed her arms, scowling.

"Why don't judoists get pet thugs?"

With a sharp huff, she dove into the fray. Spinning like a top, she struck with blinding speed. Her delicate frame masked terrifying strength—white arms like tempered rubber, every blow shattering bone, crushing throats, snapping joints. Monsters dropped mid-charge, dead before they even knew what hit them.

Nearby, Zhu Zhuqing slipped into the shadows. Silent, invisible, lethal. Her presence blurred into the chaos as shadow claws struck with precise efficiency, each blow claiming a life. Stronger monsters fell just as easily. An assassin's advantage was never in brute force but in clean, decisive kills.

As the battle raged, the other soul masters finally snapped from their daze.

Oscar tossed sausages toward Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun, who devoured them in seconds. Their bodies ignited with red soul power, strength surging.

"Alright, go wild. Kill as much as you can—I'm leeching experience off every sausage."

The two exchanged grins.

"See who bags more?"

"You're on."

Dai Mubai charged ahead, purple flames engulfing his fists. Ma Hongjun barreled through the horde, netherworld energy cutting through monsters like paper.

Watching the madness unfold, Oscar sighed.

Back in his S-rank novice dungeon, he'd earned three profession choices. All food-related. Two were glorified chef-assistants. The third was the Taotie Sacrificer—his current class.

It wasn't flashy. He could use sacrificed food to enhance his buffs, and while it stacked nicely with his sausage abilities, it didn't exactly make him a combatant.

But there was potential. Rumors claimed the Taotie carried true dragon blood. Oscar had chosen this path hoping one day it would grant him real combat power.

For now though, all it did was make him a slightly tougher bug.

A bug that could jump.

The road to strength was long.

Zhao Wuji, meanwhile, stood guard by Oscar's side. The monsters here were too weak to offer him any worthwhile experience, so he didn't bother joining in. The other elders were training deep in the dungeon's lower levels. Even now, no one dared slack.

Soul skills and profession abilities lit up the battlefield. Without high-level soul masters stepping in, the students fought tooth and nail, holding the line.

The eighth floor's strongest monsters barely reached Level 30. Only the floor boss could pose a real threat.

Above it all, Lin Bai moved like a reaper. Spear in hand, he danced through the chaos, cutting down enemies with calm, efficient strikes.

He wasn't just slaughtering monsters—he was training.

Ten minutes in, his focus narrowed. Both hands gripped the Ruyi Qiankun Spear as he pushed to maintain its ultimate golden properties. His Light and Darkness Demon Body burned at full throttle. Twelve strikes away—that's all he needed to refine the Ice-Fire Demon Wolf, his dual-attribute fusion technique.

Thirty minutes later, he abandoned all thought of keeping clean. His robes, once pristine, were soaked in monster blood. The ground beneath him had turned to a crimson swamp. Though the dungeon dissolved corpses, the blood lingered, staining the earth.

Fatigue gnawed at him.

Spiritual masters excelled at multitasking, but even they had limits. He juggled high-intensity combat, three volatile elemental forces, and the constant refining of his dragon blood.

But it was worth it.

In just half an hour, Lin Bai gained more experience than he had in the last three months combined.

Ten levels.

In one fight.

Including earlier battles, his Dragon Knight profession had officially reached Level 26.

A grin spread across his bloodstained face.

The beast tide wasn't a crisis. It was a blessing.

No need to hunt monsters. No need to hold back.

Just endless, mindless experience, begging to be claimed.

Only downside?

Sore hands.
