«Magic is a scary thing," Minato said, smiling, "Thank you, Zatanna. It would have been difficult without you," he added politely.

Zatanna smiled sweetly and awkwardly nodded her shoulder.

«Just go, there's not much time. Everyone's counting on you and Will.

«I guess I'll see you then," he said.

"You really are a perpetual shit when it comes to naming techniques," Kurama muttered, "but you're as good at fucking people up as ever. I don't know, I guess if I were him I'd think you were just trying to suck up at the end. If you'd beaten me and shit that title at the end, I'd have exploded."

Minato scrunched his nose guiltily.

"And what did you all have such a problem with my titles?" - he wondered sincerely.

Kurama sighed.

"You know, the worst thing about you is that you beat people through sleaze every time, and pretend like you're an innocent lamb. I could strangle you like that."

But Minato really didn't understand...

My fingers were cramping with excitement.

Vanessa watched the tense situation on the battlefield. A multitude of glowing dots filled the virtual map, displaying the unthinkable ratio of enemies to allies.

All of Gotham City has been taken over by para-demons.

«The Steppenwolf still hasn't shown up? - she asked.

«No...I don't see him," Ollie said.

In the background of their conversation, there were explosions and roars of para-demons. Vanessa exhaled nervously. But Green Arrow remained calm, which was a little reassuring.

Except that there was a fear in her heart that if Ollie's voice was about to drop, and things didn't go according to plan, they'd lose. Right here, right now.

The nerves stabbed her whole body, and Vanessa staggered backward. She felt dizzy and nauseous.

«...Vanessa? - Ollie's voice snapped her out of her foggy state.

«Ah... yeah, it's okay. I think..." he swallowed, turning around to the plate of food; sausage and pasta, slightly dried out. She hadn't eaten yet. But she didn't want to, apparently from nerves. - Be careful, the Steppenwolf must have prepared an ambush.

«Yeah... and you be on your guard, they can trace the signal at any time.

Everything seemed to be under control.

Will let it be known that Flash had been apprehended, and Vanessa leaned back against the table. It wasn't much, but it was probably enough to hold on through to the end, despite her weakness.

At the same moment, however, the screen lit up bright red, blinding Vanessa's eyes.

«Holy crap... They're coming, Ollie! There's too many of them! How is that possible?! We checked everything! - Vanessa dropped the earpiece and it hit the floor.

«... Vanessa...! Vanessa!

The connection's been severed.

***

Will entered the Wayne Tavern, and quickly knocked out all the guards. A giant scarlet portal was circling overhead, with a dense energy beam slamming into it.

The air around me vibrated, it felt hot against my skin.

Almost unbearably his lungs constricted.

"Hey Will, surround yourself with chakra tighter!" - Kurama shouted.

Will nodded, and sharply condensed the flow of chakra. It was as if his soul was being sucked out through his limbs. The chakra seeped through his limbs and melted rapidly into the air. All in the name of not being burned alive by the hostile energy of the portal.

Will immediately rushed to find the right computer among all the ones standing there. The biggest one seemed the obvious choice, but as it turned out, it was nothing.

"Shit. They replaced all the equipment after last time. Everything here is useless junk!"

"No surprise there. Think more broadly. Where could they have taken him?"

Will looked up, directly at the portal.

"What, seriously, do you think there?"

"The only option that comes to mind. This place is all junk and no one was waiting for me because this place is useless for the Apocalypse. Given the energy density, I should have been fried here if it wasn't for your chakra," Will added mentally.

"Hmm...I see. That way then?"

"Apparently. But how? I can't fly."

"You'll learn," Kurama grinned.

Many curly tails burst from beneath Willard's cloak. They slammed into the nearest walls and threw Willard upward with unthinkable force.

Will saw a couple demons flying out of the portal and blocking his path. Will grabbed onto one and pushed himself up, then did the same thing again until he was on the other side of the portal.

His feet immediately fell to the iron surface, which was heated to hot. The dark metal was everywhere Will directed his gaze. The metal began to shake, to glow... until somewhere in the distance there was an explosion, and a huge stream of lava erupted from the ground many kilometers away, rushing toward the stars. It seemed to stand on one big molten lump of metal that breathed and circulated with life.

«So much for Apocalypse, what a creepy planet," Will grinned faintly.

"Don't get distracted by little things! Look for the computer!" - growled Kurama.

It didn't take long to find it; behind Will's back stood a bulky metal structure. It didn't look much like a familiar human computer. It looked like a mother box, red cubes crossed together to form a monstrous machine that glowed and glowed as if it were electrified. There was a single screen in the center of the thing, and Willard rushed to it.

«I've been waiting for you, Willard Light," said a tall man with swirling black hair smilingly.

At first Will thought it was Superman and chickened out a little. But when he saw the goofy grin on the stern face with the strong chin, he was in a kind of dissonance. Well, could one be so masculine and immature at the same time...?

«You're looking at Shazam himself!

"Who?" asked Kurama.

Will froze in place and thought for a moment.

"Shazam? Seriously? Damn, that's one troubled guy, and he has magic."

Shazam had all the gifts of the gods, making him a total imba. In one of the comics, he could beat up just about anyone.

The truth of what the current Shazam was remained a mystery.

"Don't drift, time is short, we're going to have to kick everyone's ass we see, and fuck your comics, do you understand me?" said Kurama.

"Got it, Chief," Will thought mentally with a smile.

Will looked around cautiously, and didn't see anyone nearby. So Shazam was alone, and he was going to get his ass kicked, alone... after he'd kicked Wonder Woman's ass? Something was clearly going wrong with Apocalypse's plans, and that was refreshing.

«Why are you guarding this place? Where is Steppenwolf? - Will asked.

The Para-demons slowly landed near Will, surrounding him on all sides.

«What's wrong with me? Let me show you what I can do," Shazam grinned.

«No thanks," Will replied sharply.

Shazam froze with a pathetic gesture, must not have expected such a response.

«What...?

The speed Will possessed at the current moment was already incomparable to the previous one. Shazam might have been able to catch up with him before, but it was different now.

Will didn't hesitate to spring up at Apocalypse's computer and stick the virus carrier into the system while Shazam flapped his eyes. Badgirl Drive began to boot up.

Before Shazam flew up from the back and struck, Will had already disappeared, heading off to find Lois Lane and Clark Kent on the Iron Planet. And the Badgirl Drive virus, with or without him, had already hit the computer, would reach its target, even if that computer was fake, even if it was one of the few dummies designed to be a distraction - it was still connected to the general network, which meant the virus would find its way to the right place and destroy everything from the inside out.

"Can you feel his chakra?" - Kurama asked.

"Yeah... surprisingly clear and concise, and so did Lois. I guess they haven't had time to study my power fully and take all the defenses," Will added mentally.

Will emerged in front of a huge metal passageway guarded by two para-demons. Ridiculous guards, considering everything Will had been through before. The two sacks of iron collapsed to the floor at once, before they could engage in a decent fight, and Will stepped calmly into the corridor, his forehead colliding with the invisible obstacle.

«Ouch... what's that? - Will put his palm against the invisible barrier, and it barely glowed purple.

That color...reminded one of a certain personality.

Someone's ominous presence suddenly appeared behind him, and Will turned around sharply, reflecting the fire back at him with Kurama's chakra. It was Raven.

«Well hello, long time no see, girlfriend," he grinned.

«Don't even think about going any further, Willard, I know all your strengths and weaknesses. You better give up, or I'll have to kill you," Raven said grimly, creating black lights in her hands.

"I can't teleport to a place I've never been," Will thought to himself.

"Any options for getting around the barrier without a fight?"

"Just knock her out and be done with it," Kurama muttered.

"Ah... well, that's right. After the Zatanna thing, I started thinking that any mage could block me."

«I can actually read your mind," Raven said boredly, waving her finger.

A familiar Pentagram appeared beneath Willard's feet. The chains that were supposed to encircle Willard's legs came out of it, but instead... encircled Zatanna's legs with the Beast Boy.

Raven's eyes were wide with surprise.

«Flying Thunder God Technique, reverse substitution! - Shouted out Beast Boy cheerfully.

... Meanwhile, events at the front were taking a hard turn. Green Arrow was hiding behind a ruined building and breathing heavily. The bow string was broken and there were no arrows left in the quiver.

Green Arrow leaned tiredly against the wall and exhaled heavily. A crushed corpse lay beside him, the smell of metal and burns on his nose. Around the corner, there was a rumble and laughter from hell, the war was coming, the Apocalypse Army was too strong.

«We went to war with those remnants, but we had no choice," Ollie grinned, revealing the golden pendant that hung around his neck.

His hand trembled, covered in blood.

In the pendant was a photograph of a stunning blonde with thick hair, expressive breasts and incredible hips - Black Canary, his girl. Ollie shook his head with a faint smile.

«I'd give anything to see you now," he said.

Para-demons abruptly increased in number, and the remaining heroes could not withstand their onslaught, starting to die like flies. The Steppe Wolf fell from the sky, cutting off all communication with the units, and began to destroy everything left and right, and no one could stop him.

Ollie peered around the corner, watching the gray-skinned asshole chop up his comrades. He would have loved to kill the thing, but his legs wouldn't listen. They were crushed by debris. His weapon was broken. He was powerless.

«Worst feeling in the world, but I'd better think of something," he said, reaching into his pocket. He fumbled for something hard and pulled it out.

It's an iron round with a button. Remove the protective cap and it goes boom. It's unlikely to kill a Steppenwolf, but it might at least hurt it a little.

Anything is better than doing nothing.

Ollie looked up at the reddening sky. Clouds covered everything, and there were countless creatures circling, coming and going. Somewhere out there, Will was busting his ass for all of them. If he was tearing up, then Ollie should too. That's what he decided.

"As long as Will and the others make it. What happens here doesn't matter. I don't have anything left anyway."

Stella sat cuddled up with her toy and trembled. It was cold, scary, and there was a terrible rumbling sound in the distance that made my heart sink.

Hot tears flowed down the girl's cheeks.

«No, no, no! - She shouted, pressing her palms to her ears.

Her breathing was interrupted, she could barely breathe.

Knock.

Someone was walking, breathing heavily.

Stella listened with bated breath, and didn't move when a distended growl gripped her heart with uncontrollable fear.

Stella hummed as hot tears flowed silently down her cheeks. She clutched the toy in her hands until her fingers ached, as if her life depended on it, and lay still, trying to ward off the horrible thoughts.

"No, no, no, no..."

There were dead bodies lying around, many bodies, Stella gasped in fear.

Heavy footsteps approached, nervously scratching the stone surface.

"No..." - With a hushed breath, Stella squeezed her eyelids as tightly as she could.

Underground base.

Vanessa leaned uneasily on the table with her elbow. Her eyes were blurry, a dull pain lingering in her head, and her thoughts were jumbled. As she tried to get to her feet, Vanessa slid her elbow across the table and caught the mug, which fell and shattered.

She felt sick and could barely stand on her feet.

«What's wrong... I don't understand. We need to help the others right away... I," she reached for the keyboard, but her fingers slipped and she fell....

On the blinking screen, the entire field... was filled with red dots. There were no more than a hundred survivors left in Gotham. The blue dots in other parts of America were also disappearing rapidly, while the red dots were becoming more and more....

The dungeon.

Lois sat on the floor with her head down. Time stretched on forever, and she'd lost track of it. It seemed like she'd been here for years.

Her mouth was dry, her stomach was cramping with hunger, and she didn't want to give up, despite the intense weakness and helplessness that made her want to scream and bang against the walls. All because she believed-that one day he would come.

My eyes began to close, my body was losing strength and becoming quite lazy, but for some reason a wicked smile surfaced on my lips.

«What took you so long, silly," Lois whispered.

The metal bars flew apart and crashed into the wall. It didn't take a breath before Lois felt strong arms wrap around her body as if she were a weightless doll.

Lois couldn't see his face, but she could hear the hurt breath of a man who wanted to say something, but couldn't, because she knew he felt guilty in front of her. A man who embodied the very best in people, a man who was the very best in people, a man before whom every danger receded, who was not afraid of bullets or fire or Darkseid, but... for all his great power, which could inspire fear in every one of his opponents, he couldn't say a word in front of the one woman he loved with all his heart.

«Stupid, I can hear you.

«Lois, I, uh.

«Superman...," Will said quietly behind his back.

But Clark didn't even seem to notice him, stupefied by a frenzy of worry for the girl in his arms.

Lois placed her palm on Clark's cheek and, through the force of it, began to lift herself up on his arms so that she could look the confused Clark in the eye.

«Lois, you'd better, uh.

Lois put her finger on Clark's lips.

«I know, I know everything, I missed you too, but this isn't where you're needed right now. People need you, Smallville. People need their Superman.

«And really," he said, setting Lois on the ground, "then I'll go," he added, clenching his fist and at the same moment disappearing, leaving behind a violent stream of air.

The Para-demon stepped out from behind the wall and found the little girl shrinking at his feet. A fangy grin formed on his ugly lips, and he reached out a paw toward her with an anticipatory snarl.

The girl's scream escaped her lips, but then she froze as she saw what was wrong. Where...where...where had that horrible beast gone?

A ray of sunlight fell at her feet, appearing out of nowhere, though since the Apocalypse on Earth the sky had always been shrouded in scarlet clouds. And standing beside her was a tall man with a red cloak, who turned to the girl and held out his hand to her with a soft smile.

«Are you okay? - He asked.

Stella threw herself into his arms and wept bitterly against the countless corpses.

«Superman! - her words sounded like a prayer.

The time is 18:54. Same time.

Ollie removed the protective cap from the grenade and waited for his fate. The footsteps behind the wall were getting closer, and soon there would be a good beating.

Ollie closed his eyes, kneading his neck one last time to make himself as comfortable as possible for the very last moment. There were only a few seconds left before his life was over. The bitter feeling in his chest was unrelenting, and the tears rolling down his eyes made his head crack. Ollie smiled. Meeting his fate with arms wide open and pride befitting a man, however... why was it so unbearably sad?

With dignity, Ollie suppressed the rolling tension in his temples, and wiped away the droplets of tears that had formed at the corner of his eye.

«I've been getting a little too sentimental lately, damn it," he grinned. - I'd better get it over with once and for all.

But all of a sudden there was a noise, as if an airplane was flying by. And a bright ray of light intrusively struck his eyes, which made him cover his eyes.

Even in the brightest weather, the sky wasn't this clear. What time is it...?

"Who decided to shine a light on me before I die?" - Ollie thought irritably, opening his eyes.

«What...? The sun? - Ollie opened his mouth wide, and suddenly found that the bomb in his hand was gone.

And the cobblestones that had crushed my feet had disappeared.

«Ha ha..." a nervous chuckle escaped his lips, and to his embarrassment, Ollie found a tear at the corner of his eye. - Supes, it's so good to see you, buddy.

***

The Steppenwolf trembled. No, his surroundings were shaking, including his limbs, because of the incessant rumbling. The ground beneath his feet was shaking, the asphalt cracking. Steppenwolf whirled his head from side to side, trying to keep track of the flying flash.

No, there were many.

The red-blue flashes above his head darted from side to side, diluting the black clouds and denuding the sky for the bright best of the sun, which made his eyes blind.

Para-demons...

«I'll be damned," Steppenwolf whispered, grinning excitedly. - Where the hell did all the para-demons go?!

«Where they should have disappeared to, Steppenwolf," the man in front of him said confidently.

Still shorter than the Steppenwolf himself, but incredibly tall, damn it. The man's steely gaze fixed on him... not even with challenge, but rather with restrained malice.

«Kryptonian... you've finally made it out. I'm finally getting a decent bo--!

Clark's palm covered the Steppenwolf's face as he spoke, and squeezed it until blood spurted from his teeth.

With inconceivable acceleration, Clark broke away from the Earth and left its orbit, approaching the glowing source of the Sun in a matter of seconds.

Wrapping his arms around Steppenwolf properly, Clark threw him into the glowing sun, and watched him disappear into it along with the solar flare.

***

Darkseid sat on his throne with his eyes closed and remained silent as a servant in a red robe flew into the throne room.

«My go...

The messenger was intercepted by a blonde woman who suddenly appeared out of thin air and grabbed him by the neck and gave him a scornful look.

«Who gave you permission to disturb the Overlord, worm? - Kara asked coldly, squeezing the servant's neck painfully.

«Agrhga..." clinging to his neck, the servant waved his legs helplessly.

«Leave him alone, Kara. Let him say what he wants to say.

With a hum, Karen indifferently tossed the servant to the floor and turned around importantly.

Coughing, the servant looked fearfully at the Kryptonian, swallowed, and began to recount what had happened a few minutes ago.

However, neither Kara's nor Darkseid's face showed surprise.

«The Kryptonian has escaped... Hmm. - Darkseid stretched out thoughtfully, not surprised at what was happening. He wondered how Willard Light had managed to become so much stronger and free Kal El in such a short period of time.

And it's not even that Kal Al's guards turned out to be weak. It's that all the "superheroes" Darkseid put up against Willard Light, the lot of them, lost to him alone.

In a way, Darkseid saw Willard Light as an unpredictable anomaly that produced something new every time. If he weren't alive, victory would be easy.

But now it was too late to worry about past mistakes. It might have been a mistake to let Willard live, but Darkseid still didn't see him as an irreparable threat. People at Darkseid's level weren't used to changing their plans because of one single person, unless it was Superman, of course, but comparing a common brat, albeit Superman, to Superman? It seemed like a stupid joke.

«Mortals never cease to amaze me. Looks like I'm gonna have to do this one myself. Prepare a portal for me, and I will personally subdue the Kryptonian and the remaining bugs on Earth, including Willard Light.

***

Zatanna had stayed in touch the entire time making sure Flash remained locked in the time trap. She tried to free him from Darkseid's control with magic, but as expected, the Mother Box's defenses weren't as simple as she'd hoped. Perhaps Desaad himself, who was well versed in magical formulas, had a hand in creating the "mind control" remote.

"If he's prepared some kind of defense, I'm taking a risk by trying to bypass it now," Zatanna thought.

However, stopping the Flash was necessary for the greater good because he was one of Earth's most dangerous and powerful heroes. Even though he and Willard had stopped him, it only worked because the Flash often took his opponents superficially and unseriously because of his playful nature.

Even now, looking at Barry's grinning face, Zatanna couldn't help but notice the smugness of this guy, who even before losing felt like a winner. Time was different for Barry, though, and maybe he just didn't have time to change his expression as he did at the last moment before realizing he was trapped, because in fact even Zatanna hadn't realized when he and Willard had moved here.

«If it wasn't for Willard, I never would have caught you, Flash. I look at you and wonder how you got under Darkseid's control. It must have been some kind of nonsense," she sighed.

At that moment there was a sound of some sort. Zatanna looked at the notebook and pen, but they remained immovable. Then she began to look around for the strange sound, it seemed to her as if something was vibrating or moving quietly somewhere. Then she turned around to the magical trap Barry was hanging in... and his body began to vibrate with an indistinct frequency in... stopped time?!

«What the hell...

Barry disappeared right before Zatanna's eyes, and appeared behind her back. The smirk on Barry's face was the same as it had been at the moment of imprisonment, as if... he had originally known he could get out of the time trap.

Barry kicked Zatanna's ass without thinking, causing her to fall to the floor, and then intercepted her, covering her mouth with his palm and tying her hands together with a hundred layers of duct tape, all in one second. Zatanna slumped to the floor, mooing and writhing like a wrapped mummy, only funnier.

«Heh... I know you have a lot of questions. Like, how did I escape from a magic trap? Or how I move in suspended time! That's impossible, oh no! Oops-sec," he raised a finger, and abruptly moved the comfy chair under his butt, and even grabbed a coffee, which he immediately sipped with a satisfied smile, "ewwwww, yummy. Now, what am I talking about, baby? That's right, I can move because of my AIDS-FORCE aura. My body exudes a "speed force" that streamlines all the space around me, preventing me from harming my surroundings and the people around me within a negligible distance. Once trapped in the time trap, I still remained clothed in the inter-dimensional energy of Speedforce. You get it now, don't you? I can't be stopped because I'm the Flash. My speed is limitless even in timelessness, or did you think I was capable of rolling the world back and fixing your failures? You know, if it weren't for my integrity, I could... Anyway, never mind, I'm going to go now," he said, tossing the unfinished coffee onto Zatanna's upturned ass. The coffee dripped down her ass, making the magical girl squirm nervously.

Barry wasn't there to mock her any more, though. He had better things to do.

"Shit! How could this even happen!" - Zatanna sighed nervously.
