Chapter 11 - Between Us

My heart thundered as I dropped to the ground, silently watch as Jullian also sat beside me, no voice, not a single peep but enough to keep ourself some company.

"I wonder." Jullian started, "You trust me enough to this pact. I want to know what makes you think I am worthy enough?"

"Are you not?" I laugh, "Give yourself some credit Jullian. I know that some are not very welcoming with this conditions, I mean exhibit A as in Juan and B with Aaron and maybe Cerius, Hendery and Jenkins — " I joked a bit — "But non other less you were a really good person."

He looked relief and a bit excited, "I didn't know I could sound so nice coming from a human, not a bad thing, but your kind tend to run if we truly show ourselves. So it's been a while..."

I had stopped for a moment and thought about what he said, it's been a while.

"Well, your kind is truly something out of this world could understand," I told him, "If you were to tell me this kind of things before all of this happened, I wouldn't believe you either. I guess right time and the right people might bring no harm."

"Right, it wouldn't," He whisper.

"It makes me wonder, why did you all suddenly appear that night, how did you know?" Curiously I asked him and Jullian only shakes his head and sigh.

"We weren't planning on going after you at all Allora, yes we knew who you were, what you could do if you existed, we were sure, our existence in this world was just an urban legend, even up until we stayed forever until Jenkins was the last one. We were pretty sure that you didn't make it alive somehow, but that night we saw shadows." He stops, "Shadows of those who aren't meant to even land themselves in this world."

"What shadows?" I asked

"Ah... you haven't known the other part of the prophecy right?" He asked and I shake my head.

"That an heir such as yourself will come and emerge from the human world as a half vampire and half human, who will either bring destruction or peace to both realms." He told me as slow as possible, "You are destine to bring war or peace, and the only way we'll know is if you truly find your equal."

"My equal?" I asked.

"You were the embodiment of the yin and yang if you ever heard of that term, or as simple as the good guy or the bad guy, your other half is going to be the one who is going to balance you out, why do you think everyone was a bit hesitant with picking a pact," He told me, that's when I realize what he was talking about, "We weren't sure of who we are for you Allora, none of us know who in this world is worthy enough to be your other half. A pact is not the problem for us, we'll eventually help. But we're afraid it might change your perspective of your chosen other half because of bias."

"That's why none of you wanted to step up," I told him, "you're all afraid it might change the course? That I might like or even love someone wrong?"

He nods his head, now it's getting more complicated and It felt like I did something wrong.

"Let me get this straight Jullian, if I were to choose someone wrong, would it change everything?" He when silent not answering.

"In my opinion. Yes. Because your supposed to know, opening your vampire side was to help you fulfill your destiny, it's not going to be enough to just sway away, Sadly our stories are written and the world doesn't care enough if you don't like it. It will put you together even if the world tear it's own apart."

"Jullian."

"Tell me, Allora. Are we meant to be? Do you see me as equal as your other half?" Jullian asked, "If you trust me, then I will trust you too."

---

It felt like the air was thick with scent of thousands of years of history, Jullian knelt in front of me, pulling a dagger from his belt — not just any dagger, but one old enough that it seemed to hum with history.

"You have to offer freely," Jullian said. "No fear. No lies. Only truth."

It made my stomach churn to know that this could be a start of a bond that not even I know it could cost thousands of live in danger. It never felt like my burden but now it felt like if I were to choose the wrong person and path, this could lead to a total annihilation to the human world and vampires.

"Allora?" They called my name breaking me out of the trance of my thoughts, my body shiver at the thought of everyone looking towards my way. My body was in verge of throwing up, and it might be because of me. I looked over to Jullian who was still in front of me, his serious demeanor really was putting away the strong aura that was haunting behind my back.

I knew it.

I knew that this was going to be a big mistake.

He sliced a shallow line across his palm, dark blood welling immediately, thick and potent. I bit down my nerves, steeling myself in confidence. I looked over to Jullian's bloodied hands and at that moment I wanted to scream my lungs and just run away—or at least stop from making any choices. I don't know if they saw how tense I've become, but it felt like I couldn't just back out.

As I held out my hand to Juan, he took no care as he slice my palms a bit harder making me wince, I could sense that some of them was not happy how Juan had handle the situation, but right now the burning sensation coming from my palms should be my least worries. As Juan only smirks, feeling a bit victorious that their precious girl was hurt by him, he took a step back.

"Allora." My mind was once again disturb by Jullian. "This is going to be it, I will help you get through this." It felt the world has stopped as he intertwined our fingers and It burned.

Not like fire, but as memories of thousands life flashes like collage, it felt like a twist in my stomach—Like ancient roots twisting and weaving together, pulling tight.

I gasped, feeling something anchor inside me — an invisible tether that wasn't a chain, but a bridge. As I was trying so hard not to pull away from Jullian's tight grip, it felt like my legs were wavering with the sudden rush of power. As I was about to fall, Jullian step in, holding in and I felt burning sensation every time his fingertips touched my skin, and I swear I saw him looking over, his eyes burning red.

I saw it, I saw how the anger lingering in him as he saw us being so close, I could feel the snarling in the back of my mind— which I decided to ignore. As the pain grew, and there it was as the pact was sealed.

Jullian wiped the blood from his hand and pressed his forehead lightly against mine, "You did great, Love... you did great, your not alone anymore."

I'm not alone. Not alone with him.
