Chapter 58 - CHAPTER 59

Chapter 059

Since establishing a romantic relationship with Artoria, Rin had grown even more attached to her. Apart from the final "home run," everything else intimacy, affection, and subtle teasing had been explored thoroughly.

Yet Rin had no thoughts of betraying Guina.

Perhaps it was the years spent in this world, the shift from his former life's monogamous values to the pirate world's more primal laws. The laws of this world were straightforward.

The strong are revered. The weak are discarded.

So long as you are strong, women will not mind if you have more than one by your side.

Of course, Rin wasn't looking to build some enormous harem. At most, he thought, three or four women in his life would be enough.

Time passed steadily.

Before long, another few days had gone by aboard the Pandora.

A new weekly pack from the system was ready to be claimed.

That morning

Just as Rin sat cross-legged on the deck, preparing to open the gift bag, Casa's voice rang out from the lookout post. "Captain! Pirate ship approaching, looks like they're here to challenge us!"

"Oh?"

Rin raised a brow with amusement.

There had been plenty of pirate groups trying to challenge them recently, all of whom had been effortlessly destroyed most without Rin even having to lift a finger. Anilu had taken care of nearly all of them.

He hadn't expected anyone would still dare to show up.

"Check their pirate flag. What crew is it?" Rin asked lazily.

"I'll take a look."

Casa raised the binoculars and observed. Then he laughed aloud. "Captain, it's another bunch who don't know how to write the word 'fear.' That flag belongs to the Don Krieg Pirates just came from the East Blue, I think."

"Don Krieg?" Rin echoed, then laughed disdainfully.

If memory served him right, the Don Krieg Pirates were once the self-proclaimed overlords of East Blue. But that had meant little in the bigger picture. In the manga, Krieg had attempted to enter the Grand Line, only to be obliterated by Dracule Mihawk one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and then crawled back to East Blue, licking his wounds, only to be finally defeated by a rookie Luffy at the Baratie.

"The butterfly effect must be kicking in," Rin muttered. "So Krieg ended up heading deeper into the Grand Line early… and crossed paths with me instead of Mihawk."

He chuckled. Krieg was arrogant, but ultimately just a loud-mouth in weak armor.

Soon enough, the two pirate ships closed distance.

And sure enough, even before they were within boarding range, an arrogant voice echoed across the waves from the Krieg Pirates.

"Hahaha! Pandora Pirates, I've been searching for you! I, Don Krieg, will defeat you today and claim my place as the most feared pirate of the Grand Line! HAHAHA!"

Rin rolled his eyes. That same delusion of grandeur.

With a flash of light, Rin's figure disappeared from the Pandora and reappeared in midair above the Krieg Pirates' deck startling them all.

Looking down at Krieg in his absurd golden armor, Rin sneered. "Still chasing that pipe dream, huh?"

Without another word, Rin flashed down

"Light-Speed Kick!"

A gleaming kick crashed down from above, blasting Krieg through his ship's deck like a cannonball. The golden armor shattered under the blow like cheap scrap metal.

The Krieg Pirates froze, stunned into silence.

Their supposedly invincible captain had been taken out in one strike. A man who once commanded fifty ships and claimed to have over 5,000 subordinates... flattened like a bug.

Then

Boom!

A bolt of thunder flashed down onto the Krieg ship's deck as Anilu materialized beside Rin, arms folded, casually chewing on an apple. "Boss, need me to handle this?"

"No need." Rin shook his head with a grin. "I haven't stretched in a while. This warm-up's mine."

"Alright. I'll go check the loot." With that, Anilu turned and casually walked toward the interior of the ship. None of the pirates dared to stop him especially not after watching two men who literally became light and lightning appear on their ship like gods.

Fear rippled through them.

Natural-type Devil Fruit users. Monsters among monsters.

Rin didn't care about their thoughts.

Didn't care to know their names.

He smiled, eyes cold. "You fools challenged me. So let's see if you're ready to bet your lives."

With a soft whoosh, Rin vanished.

Then reappeared behind a pirate.

"Shigan."

A finger jab fast and sharp as a bullet pierced through the pirate's skull.

Then another.

And another.

Before any of them could scream, seven or eight pirates dropped dead, their eyes still wide with disbelief. They couldn't even see Rin move.

In just minutes, the Krieg Pirates were reduced to corpses.

Rin hadn't bothered killing Krieg. The man had blacked out again or pretended to and Rin had already lost interest in him.

Besides, there was no challenge in it.

These were East Blue pirates, after all. Paper tigers.

By the time Rin was finished, Anilu returned from the cabin, a large burlap sack slung over one shoulder.

"Boss, decent haul. At least 30 or 40 million Berries in gold, weapons, and supplies."

Rin whistled. "Not bad. We'll take it. Let's head back."

"Mm." Anilu nodded.

In two dazzling flashes one gold, one blue the two men vanished into the sky, returning to the Pandora.

With their departure, silence returned to the Krieg ship.

Then

Krieg stirred.

Groaning, trembling, he sat up from the hole in his deck, covered in bruises and blood.

He had regained consciousness long ago but had kept his eyes shut, terrified.

Because Rin was a monster.

"I… I was wrong," Krieg muttered, tears gathering in the corners of his eyes. "Why did I come to this cursed sea…? Why did I think I could challenge a Warlord-level monster?!"

His entire crew his strength, his name was gone.

All his subordinates, wiped out. The infamous Krieg Pirate Fleet reduced to splinters.

His dream shattered.

But soon, Krieg forced himself to calm down. No, he couldn't stay here.

He needed to flee the Grand Line. Immediately.

"Back to the East Blue. Back to somewhere safe… this sea is hell."

As Krieg collapsed back onto the bloodied deck, the Kraken's shadow passed beneath the waves and the Pandora Pirates disappeared into the horizon once more.
