The Next Day
After Elena and Vicki talked, Vicki finally went home. I'm still worried about her. She's a drug addict who now knows the supernatural is real. No idea if she's going to clean up her act... or just dig deeper into the drugs to numb herself from the fear. But I warned her. It's on her now.
Right now, Elena and Bonnie are standing outside on school grounds, deep in conversation.
"I don't think it's a good idea to be friends with a vampire," Bonnie said. "Even if he doesn't feed on humans, he's still dangerous."
"And you're a witch," Elena countered. "You can be dangerous too. It depends on the person, like Sukuna said."
"Okay, fair point," Bonnie admitted. "But here's the difference—I'm learning how to control my power. I'm trying not to hurt anyone. What if someone gets cut near him? One whiff of blood, and boom—he snaps."
"Believe it or not," a voice interrupted, "there've been a lot of times where I've just had to walk away before anyone saw my face change."
Stefan. He'd been creeping up on them, but I already knew—one of my birds had eyes on him the whole time.
"Oh, Stefan," Elena said, not surprised. "I guess you heard our conversation?"
"I caught some of it, yeah," Stefan admitted. "But I promise, Bonnie—I don't mean anyone in this town harm."
"You might seem like a nice guy," Bonnie said, folding her arms, "but I'm just listening to my Grams. She warned me about vampires."
"That's understandable," Stefan said calmly. "A lot of vampires do treat humans like cattle. But there are others—not many—who don't. Some live off stolen blood from hospitals. Others drink from people but make sure not to kill. Not all of us are monsters."
Elena stepped between them.
"Look," she said, "the real problem is that none of us know each other well enough to trust. So let's fix that. Let's have dinner—just the three of us. Get everything out in the open. If you're serious about staying in Mystic Falls, Stefan, and want to keep it safe, we all need to be on the same side."
"I'm up for that," Stefan nodded. "Where?"
"At my house," Elena smiled. "Tonight."
"I'm in," Bonnie added.
Right then, a football came flying toward them.Elena reacted instantly, snatching it out of the air with ease and throwing it back—harder than anyone expected.
Tyler and Matt both blinked, stunned.
'Hah! Look at those fools' faces,' I laughed. 'You should join the football team, Elena. You'd have everyone looking like that on the field.'
She chuckled under her breath.
Yeah… this dinner's going to be interesting.
After that small event, Elena, Stefan, and Bonnie were back in class—history, the one class I truly despise. All because of that annoying prick of a teacher. Honestly, I'm seriously debating ordering Damon to kill this guy. Elena didn't seem like she was paying attention—probably because she already knew all this—but then the bastard called on her.
"Miss Gilbert, Pearl Harbor," Mr. Tanner barked.
She didn't even hesitate."December 7, 1941."
He blinked, clearly not expecting her to know the answer.
"Thank you, Miss Gilbert."
"Anytime," she said with a polite smile.
"Very well… The fall of the Berlin Wall?"
"1989," she said again, with zero hesitation.
That surprised him even more.
"I've been studying a lot lately. I'm pretty good with dates now," Elena added.
"Oh really?" he muttered, clearly irritated by her confidence. "Let's see how good you really are. Keep it to the year only."
"Civil Rights Act?"
"1946."
"John F. Kennedy's assassination?"
"1963."
"Martin Luther King?"
"1968."
"Abraham Lincoln?"
"1865."
"Roe v. Wade?"
"1973."
"Brown v. Board?"
"1954."
"The Battle of Gettysburg?"
"1863."
"The Korean War?"
"1950 to 1953."
"Ha! It ended in '52," he smirked, like he'd just caught her slipping.
Wow. Look at him acting like he just outsmarted the world. You went to college for this shit, and you're celebrating like a child? So cute. Okay yeah, I've decided—I'm going to kill him myself. He has no usefulness, and I seriously can't stand him. When I do, Alaric can take over.
"Actually, sir, it ended in 1953," Elena said, folding her arms confidently.
He didn't look happy at all, but still didn't believe her. "Someone look it up," he snapped at the class.
A moment later, a student called out, "It's 1953."
The class burst into applause. Mr. Tanner stood there, red-faced, absolutely humiliated by a teenager. God, I live for moments like this.
Later That Day
School was finally over, and Elena was "cooking" at home—well, more like pretending to. She'd just poured takeout into bowls like that was gonna fool anyone. The day itself had been mostly uneventful, but a few things had already veered off the show's original path. Stefan hadn't joined the football team, and thankfully, Damon hadn't compelled Caroline… yet. I've been keeping tabs on him—so far, he's behaved, just stealing blood from the hospital. But with how tense things are between him and Stefan, I wouldn't be surprised if he showed up tonight.
'You do know putting that food in bowls isn't gonna fool anyone, right? They're gonna know you just ordered it,' I said.
"They're not going to know," Elena replied, clearly in denial.
'Sure, they won't,' I shot back sarcastically.
Once she finished faking her domestic goddess act and laid out the food with some serving spoons, a knock came at the door. She went to answer it—it was Bonnie.
Bonnie stepped in, sniffed the air, and grinned.
"Wow, everything smells amazing. What'd you order from the Grill?" she asked with a knowing smile.
'Told you,' I muttered.
"Shut up, both of you," Elena said, rolling her eyes.
Bonnie laughed and helped Elena toss the takeout bags before anyone else showed up. Not long after, Stefan arrived. Now the table was full—but the vibe? Unbearably awkward. Everyone sat around eating in complete silence, trying not to make eye contact.
I appeared on Elena's cheek.
"Can you all stop sitting here like statues and actually talk? This dinner's supposed to bring us together, not turn into a silent staring contest. Someone ask something already," I said.
Bonnie paused mid-bite, then looked straight at Stefan.
"You say you're a vegetarian vampire… but you said there are other vampires who steal from blood banks, or feed without killing. So why don't you do that?" she asked bluntly.
"Diving right into the deep end, huh?" I said, a bit amused.
Stefan sighed heavily. "Because… I'm a ripper."
Bonnie blinked. "A ripper? What does that even mean?"
Stefan looked uncomfortable, hesitating. So I stepped in.
"It means he's a predator," I said plainly.
Both of them turned to look at me.
"Predator?" Bonnie repeated, frowning.
"A ripper is a vampire who completely loses control when feeding," I explained. "They don't just drink blood—they enjoy the hunt, toy with their prey, then destroy it completely. No remorse. No restraint."
"So… he doesn't feed on humans because he can't control himself," Elena said quietly.
"Exactly," I confirmed.
Bonnie's eyes narrowed at Stefan, her fingers twitching slightly like she was ready to summon magic if she needed to.
"So I was right. He is dangerous."
"Yes… and no," I said calmly. "He can be dangerous. But with the right help and training, he could gain control. In fact, I recommend it."
"I've tried before," Stefan said, almost ashamed. "It always ends badly."
"Probably because you were doing it the old-fashioned way," I replied. "Now we've got blood bags. You can start small—just a few drops at a time to build your tolerance and your control. You don't have to feed on people."
"I don't know if I can do that," he muttered.
"You don't have to do it alone. Elena and I will help," I said. "One or two drops a day—just enough so you don't dry out. Once you build control, we'll increase the dose."
He looked at me and nodded slowly. "Thanks. I… appreciate that."
"But there's something I've been wondering for a while now," he added. "How exactly did you and Elena end up sharing a body?"
"Oh, that?" I smirked. "Long story short—when Elena was five, she ate one of my fingers."
Stefan stared in disbelief. "She what?"
"Yeah. Normally, that'd kill a human instantly," I said. "But Elena? She didn't die. She just got really sick. And from that moment on… well, we've been stuck together."
But I don't plan for Elena and me to be bonded forever. All I need is another one of my fingers. With it, I can channel my cursed energy and soul into a proper body, severing our connection for good.
But of course, nothing is ever that simple.
First, I actually need to find another finger. Second, I need a suitable host. I refuse to take over a vampire—they have too many weaknesses. If I had to choose, I'd prefer a witch. Someone who can properly wield my curse techniques. But that comes with risks. Most witches probably wouldn't survive the transfer. And of course… I'd prefer the host be male. For now, I just have to be patient and wait.
Not that I'm saying any of this out loud.
"Wait—you ate a finger?" Stefan asked, staring at Elena like she'd grown a second head.
Elena groaned. "I was five."
"Ha! You're never living that down," I laughed. Stefan and Bonnie chuckled along with me.
After that, the mood eased. The awkward silence finally cracked open, and conversation started flowing. Bonnie and Elena asked Stefan about his long life. He answered, leaving out the darker parts—which I didn't mind. No reason to sour a good vibe.
Everything was going surprisingly well… until we heard a knock at the door.
Elena stood, and I disappeared from her cheek before she opened it.
And there he was—Damon Salvatore.
No Caroline, thankfully. Maybe he's finally learning not to mess with Elena's friends.
"Hey, Elena. May I come in?" Damon asked, flashing one of those smug, too-white smiles.
Elena leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed. "I don't remember inviting you."
"You didn't," Damon admitted. "But when I heard where my brother was going, I figured I'd tag along. I don't want us to be enemies. I'd like all of us to be on the same side."
'He just wants to learn everything about us so he can find a weakness and try to kill us,' I told Elena in her mind. 'But since we really don't have any weaknesses, let him in. I actually want to talk to him.'
Elena sighed. "Fine. Sukuna wants to talk to you anyway. And I really hope you brought something to this dinner you weren't invited to."
Damon stiffened slightly when she said my name, but covered it quickly.
"Come in," Elena said, stepping aside and walking back to the table.

AN: Hello everyone, I have already talked to one person about this already, but I should put it up to a vote because I have no idea who Elena should end up with, here's my candidates.
Rebekah
Elijah
Kai
These are people, I think, she will have a good relationship with, but if you have any better options, let me know.
Oh and by the way, Sukuna is obviously not going to be an option, he basically is her older brother or a father figure.
