Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: I can't believe this

I'm fine. Hannah finally replied after the long deafening silence.

Logan stared at her for a long while contemplating on something.

Hannah dear, hope you are not feeling any pain anywhere? Caroline asked worriedly.

Hannah shook her head slightly. I'm fine but except my head. It hurts really badly. She confessed holding her head slightly.

Oh dear, I think you need to rest more. Caroline said as she walked towards her and held her hand.

Thank you for staying here with me. Hannah smiled weakly.

There is no need to thank me. We are not only in laws but you are like my sister. Caroline said and Hannah smiled weakly.

I wish Elizabeth could also say this. Hannah said for some weird reasons suddenly remembering Elizabeth her cousin who sees as her sister.

Is Elizabeth your sister? Caroline asked softly.

Hannah shook her head softly.

She is my cousin. I live with my aunt and uncle. Hannah said weakly. Why was she suddenly getting weak? Not only her head hurts badly, she was getting weaker and weaker. Was it because of the drip they gave her?

Few minutes later, Dr Greg walked in looking pale with a dreadful look.

Doctor what's wrong? Logan asked standing up immediately.

Doc, can you please say something? That look is scary. Carie said worriedly her heart beating wildly in her chest.

"I'm sorry to break this news like this, the infection I suspected to be in her body wasn't something we can treat, but a tumor that is her brain". He said.

Tumor? Hannah asked shocked to her bones.

Yes. And when we made more tests, we also discover that it's not just an ordinary tumor. You are in stage 2 glioblastoma. Dr Greg said and Hannah felt a sharp pang of pain grip her tightly that she was suddenly finding it difficult to breath.

How? Logan and Caroline asked in unison.

Even Charles was taken aback. Hannah looks so healthy that no one could suspect her to having such an incurable disease.

From the test we did, we noticed the tumor has grow larger and also spread round your brain cells. So you might be showing some symptoms of severe headaches and forgetfulness. Also, you may also have difficulty thinking straight. But first, we'd decided to aski f you want to be on radiotherapy or chemotherapy. The doctor explained and Hannah felt strong powerful tests rolled down her cheeks like a broken dam.

Caroline rushed to her side and hugged her tightly. Shh, it's okay. Don't cry. Everything will be fine. She said as she kept on rubbing her back while she hug her.

Get the best oncologists in any country. The tumor must be totally removed from her brain. Logan said coldly but deep in his heart, he was scared. Why he was scared he couldn't wrap his fingers on.

It's not very easy as you say it Mr Emerson. If it was in stage one, we can quickly use surgery to remove half of the tumors. But this is stage two. The tumors have not only grown bigger and spread round her brain cells, but most of the large tumors have been stuck in a very tricky location. And it will be quite dangerous if we rush to do surgery to remove the tumor. For now, we will place her on temozolomide medications.

I don't want treatment. Hannah suddenly said after she stopped crying. Her heart was too weak to say anything else.

The moment she utterd those words out of lips, all eyes fell on her. Logan gave a confused look same as everyone else in the room.

Are you kidding right now? Logan asked in a puzzled tone. There was disbelief in his onyx black eyes as he stared at her.

I can't believe this. This is a lie,so I can't take treatment for a disease that I don't have. Hannah suddenly said with determination dancing in her eyes even though in her heart she was shaking so weakly and violently that she had to force herself to believe that whatever the doctor just said now is a blatant lie. She didn't want to believe that she of all people is going to die soon.

I don't want any treatment. She said as more tears kept rolling down her cheeks like waterfall. Please doctor. I don't need any treatment please. She begged weakly before she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her head and she winced.

You don't need to cry. Crying can make it worse. Dr Greg said calmly. He have seen so much patient in his eleven years as a doctor break down because of news like this. If you have made up your mind to start the treatment, I will get the things ready for the treatment. Dr Greg said and walked out of the ward without waiting for any one's response.

You are getting this treatment and that's final. Logan said with a blank expression and a hard voice that gives no room for argument.

Hannah stared at him blankly. Her eyes moist with hot tears again ready to spill.

What's the point? I have lived all my life and everything else I needed to do I have done it. So what is the point of doing this treatment when in less than two to three years I will be gone and never return? She asked letting the tears continuously rolled down her cheeks. Not only her head was hurting but also her heart. Every fiber and cells in her body was hurting damn bad like she wish she could just turn into a frozen iceberg. What's the point of living when nothing good will come out of it.

Logan didn't say anything and walked out of the ward leaving only Charles and Caroline with Hannah. He needed to see the doctor and fix a date for then to start the treatment, cause he knew that whatever nonsense Hannah is saying is not going to affect him. He will make sure she gets the best treatment for this disease so she could live a healthy life. He thought making his way to the doctor's office.
