Chapter 370 - Chapter 370 – The Crown Beneath the Flame

The golden flames of the Celestial Gate still lingered in the skies above the capital, their flickering light distorting under the immense pressure of the power Kael had claimed. The ethereal blaze, once a symbol of divine favor, bent unnaturally as if recoiling from the force that had risen within the heart of the Empire. Kael stood beneath its smoldering glow, his cloak fluttering in the ash-swept winds that seemed to part before him. At his side hung Umbrael, the reforged blade, humming softly with a hunger restrained only by Kael's will.

The coronation chamber, once the hallowed ground for emperors of light, was now something else entirely. It had become a symbol of Kael's triumph, its marble floors and towering columns now marred by sigils drawn in shadowed ink. Abyssal runes wove intricately with celestial glyphs, marking the point where two forces had collided and formed something far darker, far more powerful. The coronation of a new era — one not of the heavens, but of the abyss.

The crowd of nobles knelt. But not out of reverence or loyalty. It was terror. It was awe. It was submission. The surviving Archons, once invincible in their divine glory, now stood like shattered relics beside him, their halos flickering weakly, dimmed by Kael's omnipotent presence. These once-mighty beings, gods of light, now seemed like mere mortals in the shadow of his power.

At Kael's right, Empress Seraphina stood, her regal figure now draped in crimson and black, a stark contrast to the golden hues of old empresses. She had shed her former image — no longer a mere figurehead of the Empire, but an active participant in Kael's new world. By kneeling beside him, she had rewritten her own legacy, binding herself to the flame of his dominion.

To his left, the throne remained empty, not because a queen had not yet been chosen, but because Lilith, Queen of the Abyss, refused to take her place in these mortal halls. Her presence, however, was undeniable — a suffocating pressure in the air, a weight on Kael's shoulders, watching him with a mixture of pride, possessiveness, and an unspoken hunger.

One of the high councilors, trembling beneath the weight of his fear, dared to speak. "Speak, Kael of the Obsidian Path," he began, voice quivering. "What title shall we bestow upon you?"

Kael turned, his gaze cold and piercing, a stare that seemed to see through the very fabric of reality itself. "I have no need for their old words."

With measured steps, he moved forward, his boots clicking sharply against the stone floor, each stride resounding like the final verdict of a judge. "I will not be Emperor. I am not bound by the crown of men."

He raised Umbrael, its dark, obsidian blade catching the dim light, and as he did, the abyssal symbols etched into the chamber flared, their power reacting to his declaration. "I am the Sovereign of Flame and Void. I am Kael, who shattered gods, who tamed the Abyss, and defied the heavens themselves."

His words echoed across the room, rippling out into the cosmos, reverberating through the divine lattice that held the world together. The Celestials trembled, their essence shaken by his defiance. Somewhere, a god, ancient and proud, stirred from its slumber, its wrathful gaze now focused upon Kael.

Far across the empire, in the sacred gardens of the Ardent Temple, Selene stood veiled in corrupted light. She had been a saintess, once pure and divine, but now she was something else — something twisted and beautiful in its own right. Her heart ached with a growing emptiness, a hollow space left behind by her choices. She stared at the sky, her mind lost in the weight of Kael's ascension.

"He's ascended again…" she whispered, her voice barely audible. "What will you do now, Elyndra?"

In a remote mountain monastery, Elyndra knelt before an altar of alabaster stone, her once-radiant aura now dimmed, flickering like a dying flame. The divine light that had once flowed through her with boundless strength was now a mere shadow of what it had been. She had prayed, begged the gods to intervene, to save her from the abyss that was pulling her soul toward Kael. But the gods remained silent.

Her reflection in the holy water rippled. For a moment, her heart skipped a beat. There was a smirk there — one that mirrored her own face, but darker, twisted, and broken.

"I warned you…" the voice whispered. It was not divine. It was not angelic. It was hers. "You wanted to save him. But you just want to be owned by him."

The vision faded, leaving her staring into the stillness of the holy water, the silence deafening. Her heart sank into despair. There was no salvation for her. Only Kael.

Back in the depths of the Abyss, Lilith, Queen of the Abyss, sat upon her obsidian throne. Her wings, vast and dark, flared open as Kael's proclamation echoed through the realms. A soft gasp escaped her lips, a sound full of longing and triumph.

"He's almost ready," she murmured, her voice filled with a sweetness that carried the weight of millennia. "My beloved son… My king."

Around her, the other demon lords shifted uneasily. They could feel the obsession growing within her, a force that was beginning to spiral beyond her control. One dared to speak, a tremor in his voice. "You risk the balance…"

Lilith's eyes snapped to him, her smile slow and deadly. "There is no balance. There is only Kael."

As Kael sat upon his newly claimed throne, it was not made of gold or silver. No, it was forged from the bones of angels and demons, fused together by the very power Kael had commanded. A throne of utter darkness and twisted divinity. As he closed his eyes, his mind drifted away from the mortal realm, and a different battlefield unfolded before him. The cosmic veil, once thick and impenetrable, was thinning. A new enemy watched — not divine, not demonic, but something older. Forgotten. A being of unimaginable power.

The next war would not be fought with mortal weapons or divine magic. It would not be fought against gods or kings. It would be fought against the stars themselves.
