Chapter 72 - Thor Witnessed His Own Death, Rage

Hello everyone, just a quick update I am changing the name from Luo Chen to Rowan from now on.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only then did Thor finally pay closer attention to the diary that had suddenly appeared before him.

"Spider-Woman Gwen?" Thor muttered as he continued reading, though he had little interest in that part and quickly skipped it.

What universe is left—Universe 1999?

Why are things getting more and more complicated?

After reading for a while, Thor's brawny brain finally caught up, and he began to understand what was going on.

At last, he understood what Rowan meant by a "time traveler."

This Midgardian… he actually came from beyond the so-called Fourth Wall?

What in the Nine Realms was that?

What did that even mean?

Thor, hailing from Asgard, had never encountered such a concept. There were no "screenwriters" or "Hollywood" in Asgard. Compared to people like Tony Stark, Nick Fury, Gwen Stacy, and others, Thor found it far more difficult to comprehend this idea of a "Fourth Wall."

The more he tried to understand, the more tangled his mind became.

Was he just… a fictional character?

He thought of the old heroic tales sung by Midgard's troubadours. Could it be something like that?

He couldn't believe it.

"Impossible. I don't believe it. It's impossible!" Thor shouted instinctively. "How could I be fake? What does this Midgardian even know!"

Thor reflected on his memories—everything from childhood to adulthood was intact. There was no way he was just a character written by someone else. It defied everything he believed.

There had never been such an idea in his entire understanding of the world.

But then… he saw that passage.

[Speaking of which, the fact that Mjolnir fell to New Mexico happened in the same year Tony Stark revealed himself as Iron Man.

Hahahaha, what a fun little Easter egg.

Tony had just finished showing off, only to have Nick Fury break into his house and invite him to join the Avengers—the super weather squad! Tony Stark must've been so confused!]

How did Rowan know Mjolnir would fall to New Mexico?

At the time of writing the diary, Rowan hadn't even been banished from Asgard yet.

He had still been living comfortably as the Prince of Asgard—yet this mortal had already written about Mjolnir being cast down?

Thor had only just recently learned about this himself. He had just discovered that his hammer had been thrown down to Midgard, and that the locals had built a base around it. Now he was doing everything he could to sneak in and reclaim it.

In his mind, even though he had been stripped of his power and cast out, once he reclaimed Mjolnir, he would immediately return to being the mighty Thor.

There was only one difference between "Thor" and "Big Dumb Thor"—and that was the hammer.

He kept reading. Much of it wasn't about him—it was about others—but eventually, he came across the concept of "timelines." As crown prince of Asgard, he at least had a basic grasp of such concepts.

However, even with all of Asgard's knowledge and power, they had never deeply explored this area.

The idea of multiverses was already cutting-edge, let alone timelines. It was beyond Thor's understanding.

But even without fully understanding, he could feel the significance.

He skimmed over the bits about Iron Man and other Midgardians. Boring. But soon, he found something that made his eye twitch.

"Brother Hammer? God of Hammers? Damned mortal!" Thor growled, irritated.

Though Thor had vowed to protect Earth, he never held mortals in particularly high regard. Now he saw how Rowan described him in his diary?

He was Thor, yet this mortal had written "Brother Hammer"? "God of Hammers"? What an insult!

He wasn't "Hammer"—he was Thor!

What kind of god is named after his weapon? Even his musclebound brain could tell this was mockery.

This mortal dared to mock him—saying he was only as strong as his hammer?

"Damn you, Midgardian. Pray I never find you!" Thor snarled, clenching his fists.

He was furious, but also… at a loss.

The "God of Hammers"... Was that not exactly what he was?

All his power came from the hammer. Once he lost Mjolnir, he lost his divine power, his strength—everything.

His father had merely blocked Mjolnir and stripped him of all his powers. Now he was trying desperately to retrieve it, believing it to be the key to restoring his godhood.

…Wasn't that exactly what a "God of Hammers" would do?

What did that make him?

He was furious, but he couldn't argue with it.

"Midgardian… You're lucky I haven't found you yet. If I had, you'd already know the wrath of Thor!" he grumbled.

Then he read further.

"I got shot? How is that possible?!"

Thor stood up and bellowed, "I am the mighty Thor! How could I be killed by a mere mortal's arrow? Are you joking?!"

He was furious.

Even if the diary mentioned it only happening in a different timeline, he could not accept it.

It wasn't just some parallel universe—this was another version of him. Another Thor, in another timeline.

If that Thor could die from an arrow, what was the difference between them?

Eventually, he saw a video was attached.

He couldn't help himself. He clicked.

By the end, his expression had darkened.

His plan had been simple: sneak in under the cover of night, retrieve Mjolnir quietly, and leave. He had no intention of interacting with Midgardians.

They were just primitive locals—well, some were attractive. Like that Jane Foster he met recently. She was undeniably beautiful.

But still, they were only Midgardians.

Yet the result was completely different. Just as he finally defeated the agents and reached for Mjolnir…

He was killed by the mortal named Barton.

"DAMN IT! That mortal dares?!" Thor roared.

Even if it was a different timeline, watching himself die like that filled him with rage—and dread.

For now, he finally realized something critical:

He was no longer the mighty Thor.

Right now, he was just a big, stupid Thor.

If he were shot by an arrow… he really would die.
