Eliana had slipped away from the group to find the restroom. The noise of the party was starting to thrum too loud in her chest.
She entered a long hallway lined with framed black-and-white photos, the air cooler and quieter here.
She was just about to round the corner when she heard him.
"Hi," Nicky said, a little out of breath, a little too pleased. "I've been looking for you."
Eliana turned, smiling slightly. "I was just talking with Elias and then—"
His gaze dropped to her lips mid-sentence.
And then he kissed her.
Hands to her waist, mouth hot and urgent against hers. Like something had finally snapped.
Eliana blinked, breath catching against his lips. He was grinning. Wild with it. Giddy.
"Are you drunk?" she whispered against his mouth. "You don't smell like it."
"Nope." He grinned and lifted her easily, guiding her to wrap her legs around his waist. Her back hit the wall.
