Chapter 31 - Black Swordsman

Lan Ye heard the sound of whistling wind breaking in his ears, and the cold murderous aura rushed straight from behind, like an extremely sharp ice cone, stabbing at him with a fierce murderous aura.

Without any hesitation, Lan Ye quickly took a step to the side, turned around like lightning, and swung his right stick straight over.

"Ding!" It seemed that something was hit in the air.

Lan Ye's wrist hurt, and his body was unconsciously shocked and retreated two steps. He stabilized his body and looked carefully, and couldn't help but take a breath of cold air, extremely surprised.

The thing he hit was actually a playing card.

An ordinary paper playing card with most of the card face deeply embedded in the concrete wall next to him - Ace of Spades.

Lan Ye was suddenly shocked. Just as he looked up at the opposite side, he felt a black shadow flashing in front of him, and the bright knife light and the bloody wind rushed towards him.

The opponent's figure and speed were so fast that Lan Ye could hardly catch them with his naked eyes. He had no time to react, so he subconsciously used his stick to block.

The blade and the stick collided violently, splashing a few dazzling sparks. Lan Ye felt as if a thousand pounds of force hit his arm.

Then his chest hurt, and his whole body was like being hit by a high-speed truck. He flew back uncontrollably and fell into a pile of colorful plastic balls behind him. In an instant, he was drowned by countless small balls like a sea tide.

The singing in the room stopped abruptly, as if it noticed the movement outside, and there was no sound anymore.

Lan Ye struggled to climb out, his chest almost exploded, and just as he stuck his head out to take a breath, he felt the cold blade against his neck.

At the same time, a cold, hoarse and deep male voice sounded: "Who are you?"

Lan Ye froze all over and turned his neck with difficulty to look.

It was a man dressed in black, with a black hood covering half of his face, so his features could not be seen clearly.

But Lan Ye could vaguely smell the almost suffocating bloody smell emanating from him.

Feeling the coldness of the blade against his neck, Lan Ye quickly raised his hand to indicate that he had no ill intentions:

"No, wait, I was just passing by. I heard the singing and thought there were survivors, so I came to take a look."

The blade was still pressing on Lan Ye's carotid artery, without moving at all. At this moment, the night man only needed to move his wrist slightly to take Lan Ye's life.

"How did you get in?"

"I was interning here before, and I swiped my card to get in."

Just then, the door of the visual room opened a crack from the inside, and a little head poked out from inside. It was a little girl with twin ponytails, who looked about seven or eight years old.

She seemed not to notice the tense atmosphere here. She ran towards them with her short legs, hugged the man's legs, and raised a happy smile on her face:

"Xiao... Xi...!"

The words were unclear. Looking at her speaking, Lan Ye frowned: "Dysarthria?"

The man was slightly stunned, and the cold breath on his body dissipated instantly. He sheathed the knife, turned around and touched the little girl's head: "Xiao Ya, go back to the room."

The door opened again, and an old lady ran out in a panic. Seeing the man in black, she breathed a sigh of relief:

"Xiao Xi, I'm glad you're back. Oh, Xiao Ya, don't run around, it's too dangerous outside"

Seeing Lan Ye lying on the ground, the old lady in front of her suddenly became nervous: "Who is he?"

The man in black sent Xiao Ya to the old lady: "Don't let Xiao Ya sing, it will cause unnecessary trouble."

After speaking, he turned back and glanced at Lan Ye: "Do you know her disease?"

"Uh, I don't know much, I just had a brief contact."

"What's your name?"

"Lan Ye"

Lan Ye looked at the old lady and the little girl, and thought that this guy should not be a bad guy.

The old lady carried Xiaoya into the house, and the man in black gestured to Lan Ye and asked him to go in.

Lan Ye was stunned: "Ah? You just let me in like this? Aren't you afraid that I am a bad guy and made up a name to fool you?"

The man in black threw something to him expressionlessly: "I can kill you anytime if I want."

Lan Ye took it and saw that it was his own access card. He quickly touched his pocket, and it was gone!

What, when did this guy touch it?

The two half meter-long hunting knives on his back, the simple scabbards flowed with silver light under the light, and Lan Ye couldn't help but guess his identity.

This hand speed, a thief? Not like it.

Carrying two knives, a robber? Would a robber get along harmoniously with the old lady and the little girl?

Looking at his exaggerated skills, is he an agent? Even more nonsense, who would come to this broken place?

Following them into the house, Lan Ye was stunned.

This was a little girl's princess room. The walls were covered with pink soft strips to prevent bumps, various toys and pictures were scattered on the floor, and leftover food was placed on the table.

In the corner of the room, there was an electronic keyboard. The piano sound I heard just now should have come from it.

After entering the room, the man in black walked straight to the corner, sat down with his two swords in his arms, lowered his head and closed his eyes, as if he was resting.

"Young man, you must have suffered a lot along the way, drink some water." The old lady handed Lan Ye a bottle of water with a kind smile.

"You must be hungry. We still have some bread here. You can fill your stomach first."

Lan Ye was flattered and took it over. He said thank you, then took off his backpack and took out most of the food to share with them. The old lady thanked him excitedly.

The girl named Xiaoya had been sitting on the ground, looking at him curiously with her big watery eyes. Her eyes did not have the lively brilliance that girls of the same age should have, but were empty and pale.

Lan Ye had interned in pediatrics with Dr. Shangguan and had seen many similar disabled children. He still knew how to coax children.

Lan Ye picked up a small ball from the ground, squeezed it, and it emitted colorful light and squeaked. He smiled and handed the ball to her.

A bright smile bloomed on her face, but there was a hint of soullessness in that smile.

She crawled over with her hands and feet, grabbed the ball, and then threw herself into his arms with a giggle.

Lan Ye hurriedly bent down and hugged her to prevent her from falling.

"Hee... Hee!"

She grinned, opened her mouth and uttered a few unclear syllables, then without any warning, she suddenly raised her hand and threw the ball out, hitting Lan Ye's head when it fell.

Her saliva flowed out of her mouth, and her chubby little hands waved randomly in the air, and even hit his chin a few times.

The old lady saw his calm expression and asked curiously:

"Young man, are you... okay?"

Lan Ye smiled and touched Xiao ya's head, lowered his head to pick up the ball and stuffed it into her hand. She hugged his neck excitedly again, holding the ball in Lan Ye's arms and grinning.

"I came here for internship before, and I met many similar children. I'm used to it." Lan Ye hugged Xiaoya and turned his head to look at the old lady:

"What about you, are you a family member of the patient?" As soon as he said this, he knew that his professional problem had come back again.

"Oh, my last name is Li, maybe... her family member."

"Maybe?" Lan Ye was puzzled.

Old Mrs. Li smiled and explained: "Hey, this child has a hard life. I picked her up. My husband died early, and there were no children in my family. So, I raised her as my own child. It's been almost two years."

Lan Ye was a little shocked. Raising a child who has no blood relationship with you, and who has congenital defects, how difficult is it?

"Then what do you do for a living?"

"I'm an old lady. What kind of job can I have? I usually pick up rags and sell waste. With the government's minimum living allowance, I can barely make ends meet. But Pang Xi is here. He is a good child. I call him Xiao Xi. He works in an orphanage and often gives us living expenses and food."
