Pov, William
"Let's head back, Evander. It's almost sunset, and we haven't found anything."
I exhale, tired, and put my hands into my pants pockets. I stare at the goblin walking next to me. He's got his eyes peeled for any little light that might appear inside this stupid crystal ball he's holding with both hands.
I'm starting to think Luna's just messing with my head.
"Evander, didn't you hear what I said?"
Once again, he's ignoring me.
And that really frustrates me. I grab the crystal from his hand, raise my arm, and yell as I throw it away, while he tries his hardest to get it back. "This will never work!"
And the crystal ends up at the bottom of the water.
"Why'd you do that, Dad? "
The stubborn little goblin starts berating me, and I'm not in the mood to argue.
I grab him by the arm and make him walk back to the hotel. He tries to get rid of me, so I yell at him again. He stops for a moment and stares at me.
"I've given up hope of finding her, and you should do the same! Point and click."
"You keep calling me a giant baby, but it turns out you're the baby here!" He's got a serious look on his face, totally different from usual.
"What?"
I blink twice, trying to process what he said. What's wrong with him talking to me so rudely?
Does he really care that much about that crystal?
Or is it more important than me?
Then, all of a sudden, he spins around and jumps into the river, trying to find what I just threw away.
"You crazy asshole. Come back here!" I yell at him, grabbing my hair with both hands and looking for bubbles on the surface of the water, but I don't see any.
"What terrible luck!" I take off my jacket and follow him into the depths, looking for any movement, even though it's too dark to see anything clearly.
And even though I'm starting to feel a bit uneasy, I know that since the last time I went diving, I ended up in a hospital bed.
I found him.
Hey, wait a sec.
What is he doing?
I think he's forgotten why he's jumping into the water, petting the fish around him, and seems to be enjoying it.
Even though I can feel my limbs freezing from the cold water, I find it cute.
I'm not sure if those fish are actually helping him find the crystal, or if I'm just imagining things.
I go back up to the surface to breathe. How could he hold his breath for so long underwater?
I was a bit too quick to worry about him, and I think I should worry about myself first.
...
Pov, Evander
I found it.
I grin and pick it up. But then this weird hand just appears out of nowhere and grabs the crystal from my hand.
Who is it?
The thief swims away from me, and I try to catch up with him by swimming fast while following him.
I see him come up out of the water and I raise my eyebrows, watching him from a distance as he gets on a weird-looking thing that's floating on the water.
"Give me back my crystal, thief! I yell.
He looks over at me, and then waves his arm.
What the heck?
"Evander. What's wrong?" My dad says this as he swims over to me, and I look at him with a frown before answering, slapping the water with both hands.
"He stole the crystal. That jerk!"
"It's okay, it wasn't much use."
His indifference is getting on my nerves again.
If you don't mind, I do.
I swim to the massive thing, ignoring my dad's pleas to come back.
I stay near it, thinking of a way to get on it, but all I find are my claws, so I use them to hold on. It won't hurt to make a few scratches.
"You're not getting away with it, you thief!"
I'm on it. I look around, and I'm about to run towards that person when I see it, but I stop in my place.
It's a girl.
She takes off her black clothes and her strangely shaped mask, and her blonde strands of hair fall down and touch her waist.
Gorgeous!
She looks at me, and I come to my senses. I walk up to her and say, frowning, and I hold out my hand to her. "Give back what you stole. Now!"
She gives me a cold stare for a bit, then shrugs and says with a smirk, "I saw it first. Hey, maybe try finding another one?"
I tilt my head slowly, watching her back as she walks away. I can't believe how incredibly annoying humans can be.
I run up to her and grab her from behind, trying to get the crystal back, but she resists and won't give it to me.
She starts screaming to save herself.
"What's going on here? Who are you?"
A man's voice yells nearby, and I realize we're not the only ones on this thing.
"Get away from my granddaughter!"
He snarls at me and shoves me away from her. I lose my balance and fall on my back, and my eyes widen when he starts waving that thick wood in my face.
"What do you want? How'd you get on the boat?"
I just stare at him silently, and then I look over at that silly girl out of the corner of my eye.
We're all startled by a sudden scream.
"Help! Please! I'm drowning! "
It's my dad!
