Chapter 91 - CHAPTER 91

"Goal for Coventry! Morrison finds the back of the net and levels the score!" Letkinson called out from the commentary box, his voice calm despite the equalizer. "It's 1–1 now, and this is a crucial moment for both sides."

While Letkinson remained composed, the Coventry supporters erupted in the stands. A wave of jubilation swept through the crowd as they celebrated the goal with wild enthusiasm.

On the pitch, Morrison was mobbed by his teammates, buried under a pile of ecstatic Coventry players. The goal had clearly given them a surge of belief and momentum.

Coventry manager Chris Coleman raised both arms in triumph on the touchline. It was clear he believed his tactical tweak had paid off handsomely.

Meanwhile, Luton Town's manager, Ethan, was far from impressed.

"What the hell... just a lucky goal," he muttered under his breath, visibly irritated by the equalizer.

He turned sharply toward his bench. "Charlie! Adam!" he barked.

Letkinson perked up again. "Looks like Luton are preparing a double substitution! Charlie Austin and Adam White are getting ready to come on. Ethan is looking to respond immediately—he wants to hit back hard!"

Though he could have opted to sit back and rely on counterattacks, Ethan knew Coventry were riding high on adrenaline. He wasn't about to let them dictate the game.

Instead, he chose to go on the offensive—throwing cold water on Coventry's celebrations by shifting the pressure right back onto them.

Coventry, riding their high, continued to push forward. They attacked relentlessly down the flanks, swinging crosses into the box, hoping to capitalize again.

But Luton's defense held firm. Jeffrey, commanding in the air, repeatedly denied Coventry's forwards any clear chances.

Soon, Charlie and Adam had finished warming up. Ethan pulled them in for last-minute instructions.

"Charlie, get in the box—watch for the cross from the left. Adam, take the left wing, drive it hard, and deliver! Got it?"

The two nodded with determination.

Before they stepped on, Ethan tapped into his secret weapon—the card system.

[Game Card (Green): Dribbling +15% – Applied to Adam White]

[Game Card (Yellow): Speed +7% – Applied to Adam White]

[Game Card (Yellow): Shooting +8% – Applied to Charlie Austin]

Luton made their changes.

"Substitution for Luton Town! Adam White is on for Lewis Emanuel, and Charlie Austin replaces Hassan Ali," Letkinson reported. "Adam White has been attracting attention lately, a real rising star. And as for Charlie Austin—well, the transfer rumors have been swirling. Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, even Manchester United have been linked with him after his stunning form—twelve goals in his last four League Two games. He's now tied at the top of the scoring charts with none other than his teammate, Jamie Vardy!"

Ethan gave Lewis and Hassan a pat on the back as they made their way off.

"Well done, both of you. No worries—hit the showers and watch us win this."

As the two disappeared down the tunnel, Ethan's eyes locked onto Coleman across the pitch.

Coleman was visibly pleased, a broad grin on his face. His scruffy gray beard seemed to twitch with each chuckle.

But Ethan wasn't having it.

He found Coleman's smug expression insufferable—but with Charlie and Adam now on the pitch, he had a plan in motion.

And judging by the early spark they brought, it looked like things might just turn in Luton's favor again.

Adam had an immediate impact after coming off the bench. He picked up the ball on the left flank, surged past Henderson with a deft touch, and drove into the final third. As he approached the edge of the penalty area, just left of center, Adam shifted the ball onto his right foot and whipped in a teasing cross.

"Charlie Austin!!" commentator Letkinson roared as the ball curled toward the far post.

Adam's delivery was inch-perfect, finding Charlie Austin ghosting in at the back post. Austin met it with a side-footed volley—boom!

A gasp erupted from the stands as the ball rattled the crossbar and ricocheted back into play. Vardy pounced on the rebound, but his follow-up was blocked and eventually hacked away to touch by a scrambling defender.

"Ahhh, the crossbar!!" Letkinson shouted in frustration. "Manager Ethan's substitution paid immediate dividends, sparking a dangerous move, but Charlie Austin's effort was cruelly denied by the woodwork!"

On the touchline, Ethan buried his head in his hands, disbelief etched across his face.

"Charlie's just a bit unlucky today..." he muttered.

"Still," co-commentator John noted, "he's been in fine form lately. You can't fault him for that effort." As a former Manchester United player, John had an instinctive understanding of the game—he knew that sometimes, players made the right runs and struck cleanly, only for fate to intervene. Ethan, with no professional playing background, could only rely on what he saw. But John understood: being in the right place at the right time was half the battle. Whether the ball found the net? That often came down to luck.

It was clear today that luck wasn't on Charlie Austin's side.

Still, that effort lit a spark.

Luton's left flank now became the focal point of their attack.

In the 68th minute, Vardy drifted wide to link up with Adam once more. Stationed near the corner of the box, Vardy received a pass from Adam and immediately drew in defenders with a sharp turn. Instead of shooting, he feinted and slipped a clever reverse pass into the box.

Adam, having continued his run, latched onto the ball near the byline. The angle was too tight to shoot, so he calmly cut it back to the top of the six-yard box—classic pullback!

Vardy again!

The striker had anticipated a potential rebound from Adam's shot, but instead found himself on the end of the pass. He adjusted quickly and struck it with his left foot.

But the Coventry goalkeeper reacted brilliantly—diving low to smother the shot and deny Vardy at point-blank range.

Luton were piling on the pressure now, testing Coventry's backline with wave after wave of attacks.

On the touchline, Coventry manager Coleman was animated, waving his arms and urging his players to regroup. They had looked to hit back quickly after scoring earlier, but Luton's sudden surge had forced them to retreat.

The substitutions had transformed Luton, and though Coventry were pinned back, Coleman's side held firm under the siege.

Their defensive structure—disciplined and well-drilled—was just enough to weather the storm… for now.
