Chapter 5 - BOMBARDO

As Rohit entered the lecture hall, he noticed a man wearing a black trench coat and pants, teaching the class. The man didn't bother to even look at Robert as he entered.

Quickly, Rohit took his seat and listened as the man began his lecture.

"Magic is a rare phenomenon. It is usually common in humans, but not at the level of other races, such as elves. That race possesses a high quality of magic because they are connected to nature. It is believed that humans need a medium to perform physical magical abilities, and that medium? Your wands.

You see, while elves can simply use their fingers and hands to summon magic circles, we humans lack that natural gift, so we rely on a medium called a wand.

There are more than 389 discovered elements of magic that humans have found within their bodies. Usually, there are five main elements and ten sub-elements that combine to form other elements of magic.

But in this lecture, I will teach you the most basic offensive magic spell—Bombardo."

As the man finished speaking, he took out his wand and cast an Aere spell to move the marker in his hands onto the table. Then he barked,"Those who are interested must be present in the training room by 1 PM."

After making this announcement, he left the room. The students seated with Robert got up and began leaving as well.

Interesting...

Rohit stood up, left the class, and went straight to Angelina Topez.

"Are the paperwork clear?" he asked.

Angelina shot a glance at Rohit before replying, "Yes, sir. I have put your belongings in your locker, and here is the key."

She handed him the key, and Robert replied, "Thank you, Mrs. Topez."

Walking through the corridor, Robert reached his locker, checked his belongings, then closed and locked it. Afterward, he made his way to the training center, where the lecturer had called them.

The training hall was large and equipped with many magic-resistant dummies. After some waiting, more people gathered.

The lecturer looked at his wristwatch and said, "Alright, since you're all here, today we are going to learn Bombardo. This is a basic-to-intermediate-level attack spell, depending on the user's experience."

The lecturer took an offensive stance while clenching his wand tightly. Rohit noticed that the mysterious text on the lecturer's wand was different from his own.

The lecturer stepped forward, rotated his wand to point at the target, and barked,

"BOMBARDO!"

BOOM!

A small orange-colored magic circle formed at the tip of the wand, followed by a firebolt that shot out and blasted the training dummy.

The entire room fell silent.

After this demonstration, the lecturer sighed, turned to the crowd, and explained, "Focus on the target and your energy. Picture the spell in your mind as you say its name. Stance doesn't matter. Once you've practiced enough, you'll be able to perform it without chanting."

The students nodded. Soon, each one was assigned a training dummy.

Rohit walked over to his assigned dummy and closed his eyes, recalling all the steps.

He opened his eyes with determination, pointed his wand at the target, and barked, "BOMBARDO!"

He waited for a magic circle to form—but nothing happened.

Something's not right...

Rohit attempted it five to seven more times. Finally, on his last attempt, a small explosion burst forth.

"It worked!" he cheered.

The lecturer observed the students, then glanced at his wristwatch and announced, "Today's class is over. Those who were unable to perform the spell and still wish to learn it should return in the evening. Those who want to practice may remain here. Thank you, goodbye."

After the lecturer left the building, Robert gathered his materials and departed as well.

By the time he reached his apartment building, he stepped inside and saw the same figure from yesterday—Mr. Owen.

Mr. Owen looked at Robert and taunted, "Another successful robbery, huh?"

Rohit stopped and replied, "Come on, Mr. Owen, you know I'm not a thief. I'm a night guard."

Mr. Owen smirked. "Thieves always say 'night shift.' Well, whatever—your rent is due. Pay it within the week, or I'll kick your butt out."

Rohit sighed in irritation. "Yes, yes, I'll pay."

After the annoying conversation, he finally made his way to his apartment. He removed his shoes and work clothes, then sat on his bed.

ItseemslikeI'mgoingtobeinthisworldforalongtime… Fine. Fromnowon, I'mRobertSmith.

With that final thought, Robert smirked in satisfaction, fell back onto his bed, and closed his eyes.
