Chapter 16 - Chapter 20 No Permission

Mu Xingfeng was really out of luck; he never imagined that he, a man with perfect training skills and a strong swimmer, would capsize in this ditch.

When the woman grabbed his ankle, he didn't panic. When the dried tree branch scratched his back, it felt like a burning pain for a moment. But what made him feel truly helpless was that there was a large stone hidden underwater.

When he fell headfirst into the water, his head hit the stone accurately, making him dizzy for a moment, and in that instant, he was swept into the whirlpool by the river.

Relying on his strong willpower and survival instincts, when he surfaced, he had no idea where he had been swept to.

Two days and nights of continuous rescue operations had drained his strength. Coupled with the bleeding wound on his back, he was completely exhausted and could only try to stay afloat, letting his body drift in the river.

He didn't know how long he had drifted until his body was blocked by a tree branch. When he saw another large stone beside him, he used all his strength to climb onto it.

After using up the last bit of his strength, Mu Xingfeng knew he could only wait here for rescue.

Listening to the sound of the river beside him, Mu Xingfeng could feel his life slipping away, and before his eyes, the stubborn face of a girl appeared.

Before this, he had never thought about getting married, but after that incident, the idea actually occurred to him.

He didn't know if he would have the chance to see that girl again.

As night gradually fell, he knew that in this terrain and weather, the rescue mission would be even more difficult.

But he tried to stay rational. He knew that if he fell asleep like this, he might never wake up again.

He needed to survive, there were still things he hadn't done yet.

Occasionally, vehicles passed by on the riverbank in the distance, and the fleeting lights made him feel he was still alive. But those lights didn't stop because of him.

Finally, he made it to dawn, but when he took a look at his location, Mu Xingfeng couldn't help but let out a bitter laugh.

The large tree on the riverside was slanting over the river, completely covering the water surface above. The low shrubs on the bank were dense, and he had taken off his rescue white coat during the operation, now wearing camouflage. If hidden, this place was quite a good spot.

At this position, even in daylight, it was unlikely anyone would discover him. For the first time in his twenty-six years, Mu Xingfeng felt helpless and hopeless and closed his eyes.

He didn't know how long passed when he vaguely heard footsteps, and then the sound of rustling from the bushes not far away, followed by a mumbling voice: "This should be fine, right?"

Mu Xingfeng opened his eyes in confusion and saw a slender figure. Her ponytail was high, and she wore a life jacket, standing on the bank, tying a rope around herself.

From this scene, he didn't have to think to know what she was going to do. Mu Xingfeng's confused eyes suddenly flashed with fierceness. He struggled to open his mouth and uttered two hoarse words: "Don't."

But those two words were quieter than the sound of a buzzing fly, and Mu Xingfeng felt a burst of frustration.

At this time, An Ran had already entered the water, slowly approaching him along the tree branch.

Fortunately, this was a branch of the Qiu River. Although the water level had risen significantly, the current was not very strong. An Ran swam to the side of the big stone and steadied herself against it.

The stone wasn't large. The man's tall body was lying on it, with most of his legs still submerged in the water. His back was uncovered and bleeding, and seeing the sorry state of it, An Ran felt a sense of reverence in her heart.
