Chapter 127 - Chapter 127: Stepping into the World of Martial Soul Fusion

Chapter 127: Stepping into the World of Martial Soul Fusion

"There will be opportunities in the future. After all, Bing'er's martial soul is already steadily increasing in strength. As for the name, I'll discuss it with her later." Han Li looked at his master and smiled as he responded.

Then, he walked toward Shui Bing'er and stopped in front of her.

"Do you want to try a method for quickly restoring your soul power?"

When they used the martial soul fusion technique earlier, he had finally noticed a clue. Now was the perfect time to test it.

"Mm."

Shui Bing'er wasn't sure what he was planning, but the feeling of having her soul power drained wasn't pleasant. Naturally, she wouldn't refuse.

Then, she saw Han Li extend his hand toward her.

A barely noticeable blush flashed across her pale face. She hesitated for a moment before placing her hand in his.

The next second, her eyes widened. She felt a soul power fluctuation coming from Han Li's hand a familiar one.

If it weren't for the fact that the energy wasn't hers and was even purer than her own, she would have thought she was mistaken. It felt almost as if she had cultivated it herself.

"You… Is this an effect of our martial soul fusion?"

Shui Bing'er asked in surprise. When she absorbed this soul power, there was no resistance at all, as if it was already hers.

"No, to be precise, this is the reason the martial soul fusion happened in the first place." Han Li shook his head and explained why he was able to do this.

"Then, if that's the case… doesn't that mean finding martial soul fusion partners isn't actually difficult?" Shui Bing'er seemed to realize something, and for the first time, she looked visibly excited.

"This is just one possibility or rather, one type of martial soul fusion. It's not an absolute rule." Han Li clarified, seeing her rare enthusiasm.

"Oh, you're right. But still, this is a huge discovery. I never expected the secret behind martial soul fusion to be this!"

Shui Bing'er nodded in realization, recalling past records of martial soul fusions and making the connection.

"Can you two stop speaking in riddles and explain it to the rest of us?"

Guang Ling interrupted. Ever since the two of them held hands, they had been exchanging shocked looks and whispers.

He could vaguely understand what they were saying, but he had no idea what they actually meant and that was driving him crazy.

"Be patient, Master. Bing'er needs to recover some soul power first. Otherwise, we won't even be able to demonstrate it to you."

Han Li chuckled as he reassured his master.

"Bing'er, release cold energy. Let Master and the others see it it'll be easier to understand that way."

He then turned back to Shui Bing'er.

"Alright."

Shui Bing'er was also feeling excited. If martial soul fusion really worked the way Han Li described, then she would be part of a groundbreaking discovery.

The next second, they exchanged a glance, and a visible wave of cold energy radiated from both of their bodies. But unlike usual, this energy pulsed in wave like patterns, spreading outward from them in synchronized pulses.

Of course, their pulses weren't completely identical, but they overlapped at around 70 80%.

"Soul power fluctuations?"

Guang Ling blurted out. Just one glance, and he understood what they were trying to show.

"Exactly. This is what I discovered each person has a unique soul power frequency. This might be the key to martial soul fusion."

Han Li smiled as he confirmed his master's guess.

"So that's why martial soul fusions are so rare? It makes sense. There aren't that many soul masters to begin with, and most people never even meet someone with a compatible frequency."

Guang Ling muttered to himself, momentarily lost in thought.

"Then what about Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo?"

Qing Luan suddenly asked, looking at Han Li.

"Yeah, those two didn't have their martial soul fusion at first. They only figured it out years after knowing each other."

Guang Ling, reminded by Qing Luan, now wanted to hear Han Li's explanation.

Seeing that Shui Bing'er had recovered quite a bit, Han Li squeezed her hand lightly to signal that they were done. Then, he let go of her hand and turned to the others.

"That's exactly what I was about to explain next. Of course, this is just my theory it still needs testing to confirm."

Han Li took a few steps forward, then waved his hand. A blackboard made of ice formed on the ground.

"According to my theory, the formation of martial soul fusion requires a few key conditions."

"First: Similar, complementary, or evolving soul power frequencies. Second: The martial souls themselves must follow the same pattern similar, complementary, or evolving. Of course, this first category happens naturally. It's basically a divine blessing."

When they heard his last sentence, everyone had strange expressions but no one interrupted.

"Let's make this easier. I'll use real examples to explain."

"First, the similar frequency type. A famous example is the 'Peerless Dragon and Serpent' couple. One has a Dragon Staff, the other a Serpent Staff. Their martial soul fusion technique is a textbook case of a fusion between similar martial souls. Their martial soul qualities are also on the same level."

"Next, the complementary type I don't even need to explain this one. Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo are the perfect example. One martial soul is Yin, the other is Yang. Or, you could say it's a fusion of body (Qi & Blood) and spirit (Mental Energy). Just remember don't forget what Chrysanthemum Douluo's martial soul actually does."

Han Li paused for a moment to let them process this information, specifically pointing out Chrysanthemum Douluo's martial soul effects to help them understand.

Everyone except Shui Bing'er immediately nodded in understanding. Although she wasn't as familiar with that martial soul, she got the general idea and didn't ask any questions.

"Now, let's talk about evolving martial soul fusions. This one is a special case, and it's one you're all familiar with."

"The 'Nether White Tiger' fusion from the Star Luo Empire's Dai and Zhu families."

"This one is unique because their martial soul fusion is a mix of all three conditions similar, complementary, and evolving."

"As for martial soul quality, I'd say they're about the same. Of course, the Dai family always brags about their White Tiger martial soul being the strongest."

"But if you ask me, while the White Tiger is well rounded, compared to other top tier beast martial souls, it's actually a bit… lacking. It doesn't stand out in any particular way."

"In my opinion, the White Tiger is the best balanced high level martial soul, strong enough to compete with top tier martial souls. But in terms of actual quality, I still consider it a high level martial soul rather than a truly top tier one."

Han Li directly removed the White Tiger from his personal top tier martial soul rankings.

The others thought about his words for a moment, comparing the White Tiger to their own martial souls. In the end, none of them objected they simply nodded in agreement and motioned for him to continue.

(Note: This take on the White Tiger martial soul is for narrative purposes. Personally, I do think it's strong, but compared to other true top tier beast martial souls, it's somewhat lacking. Outside of its martial soul fusion technique, it doesn't really have any standout traits. This is mainly based on its portrayal in Soul Land 1.)
