His bunny did not want him to kill them, something he had planned to do, but then he could tell she wasn't happy about something, and he wouldn't want to further make her unhappy by killing the useless beings for crossing the line.
He had gone to deal with the case of the witch's house that was found burnt down that morning. The townspeople who had seen it had brought the matter to their magistrate, who in turn had sent for the Duke. And as much as he wanted nothing to do with that bitch, he had to appear—especially when another case of missing children had been brought to him.
He somewhat liked being a head of authority, especially when he was the master of breaking it. It was fun for him, in a twisted kind of way, to solve crimes and send people—innocent or not—to execution.
