Glossary

As of writing the last few chapters of Volume One, I'm starting to see that this pool of characters might not be so shallow, let along the places you need to keep track of. So, here is the glossary to help you guys with meanings and names!

Characters:

1. Orevian Ballister- One of the main characters; son of King Orastor and heir to the throne.

2. Norien Ravenhan- One of the main characters as well and the daughter of Lord Nosos.

3. Loran Aelond- A peasant stable boy that aids Orevian in his journey.

4. Ser Merill Abbister- The commander of the Ballister forces. He is a key member of Orevian's party during their journey.

5. Forien Strix- The son of Lord Folius Strix. Forced to go to war, he despises his father's wishes but cannot do anything about it.

6. Folius Strix- Lord of the East Plains and Keeper of the Spire. He is an ambitious man that desires to bring back his family's glory and powerful position.

7. Noran Ravenhan- The childish yet loving son of Lord Nosos Ravenhan and heir to Northrest Keep. He is to be wed to Orelia Ballister, the daughter of King Orastor.

8. Orelia Ballister- A caring maiden and the daughter of King Orastor.

9. Ser Magrae Abberan- A torn knight that thirsts for war. Scarred in one side of his face, he wears a golden mask to keep it hidden. He is also the sworn protector of Forien Strix. He has a bitter relationship with his brother, Ser Mareste Abberan, due to an incident many years ago.

10. Ser Mareste Abberan- A prideful knight and the youngest of the Abberan brothers. He is often looked down upon and is seldom with friends, but he finds comfort in the company of Ravenman Ryene and his brother, Ser Maserr Aberran.

11. Ser Maserr Abberan- A strategist and a wise knight, known to his brothers as "The Abberan Owl." He has mastered the art of battle and often takes part in important councils.

12. Ser Maerys Abberan- The eldest of the brothers and the strongest of them , being called "The Abberan Hound" by many. While he is strong, he is also quite the strategist, able to defend a castle.

13. Ser Madester Abberan- Not much is quite known about the knight besides his submissive attitude. He is the most plain among his brothers, simply following orders and doing as he is told.

14. Ravenman Ryene- A great teacher and philosopher residing in the Hall of Ravens. While he is old, he is certainly wise and still has a caring heart. Behind it all, however, is a secret he wishes to contain.

15. Ser Jenos- A brute free folk mercenary with dark skin, partnered with a scar on the cheek and another on the forehead. He is good friends with Ravenman Ryene along with his two companions, Ser Jasson and Ser Joras.

16. Ser Jason- A free folk mercenary and a good friend of Ser Jenos.

17. Ser Joras- A free folk mercenary who is often bullied and made fun of by his two companions.

18. Orastor Ballister- King of the Northern Island and the father to Orevian and Orelia.

19. Nosos Ravenhan- Lord of the South Cradle and Keeper of Northrest Keep. He is the fatehr to both Norien and Noran.

20. Forea Strix- The sister of Forien who awaits his return back at the Spire. [She is not included much in the story for that same reason]

21. Loreys Tiberrun- A short-tempered old man and the commander of the Strix forces. He is good friends with his childhood companion, Lord Rolen Berros.

22. Rolen Berros- Keeper of the Aely and a good friend of Loreys Tiberrun. He is a key person in Loreys' campaign for the north.

23. Lerane Berros- The wife of Lord Rolen.

24. Roanna Berros- The eldest and most favorable daughter of Lord Rolen.

25. Rolena Berros- The youngest daughter of Lord Rolen.

26. Ser Merien Abbister- The younger and less brave brother of Ser Merill, who has been granted the position of the leading commander of the Ballister forces upon Ser Merill's alleged demise.

27. Aerystor Leoan- The Hand of the King and once a good friend of King Orastor.

28. Oren Ballister- The brother of King Orastor and the new king of the north after his demise, not knowing the true heir still lives.

29. Ravenman Caean- The adviser of the throne. Often looked upon as a dumb fool, he has a talent for political plots and royal deeds.

30. Ravenman Rudus- Lord Aerystor's adviser and personal Raveman.

31. Ser Caeris the Rabbit- Loran's cute pet.

32. Caston Levarion- Keeper of Ale Hall.

33. Caeron Levartion- Keeper of Iron Port and brother of Lord Caston.

34. Baeron Faerelion- The new ruler of the Rocklands after House Gryphith's demise.

35. Odelia Ravenhan- The mother of Norien.

Places:

1. Avalion- the archipelago where the Northern Island resides. In reality, it's just as large as Asia and the Northern Island is as large as Europe.

2. The Northern Island- the kingdom where the story resides.

3. The Weslands- A region in the north filled with snow. Ruled by House Ballister and the other northern lords.

4. The East Plains- A region in the east, fertile and suppliers of grain and wheat. Ruled by House Strix and the eastern lords.

5. The South Cradle- Once a military power, this region in the south is now a golden place for philosophical and cultural customs with less focus on military might.

6. The Rocklands- Home to the lords of the west, this land is home to ax-wielding men and ferocious warriors and expert masons. Once ruled by House Gryphith, now governed by House Faerelion.

7. Ororer's Keep- The capital of the kingdom and seat of House Ballister filled with red walls and red brick buildings and a large center keep.

8. The Spire- A large tower-like keep built on a large geological feature and the seat of House Strix.

9. Northrest Keep- Surrounded by white smooth whitestone walls, this city stands tall with its vast streets and districts surrounding the keep. While its fortifications are strong, it all depends on the defender's capability to defend.

10. Westhold- A city known for its liveliness in the cold with its center keep home to the ruler of the Rocklands.

11. Ale Hall- A castle near a small city around an hour away on horseback. Known for its high walls that are impenetrable and unscalable using ladders.

12. Trayne's End- A small town near Alley Pass.

13. Alley Pass- A small passage to the Rocklands from the South Cradle.

14. The Tunnels- Essentially a large underground highway built under the Nortenhein Mountains connecting the north and south.

15. The Nortenhein- The longest mountain range, filled with the tallest mountains positioned between the Weslands and the South Cradle.

16. The Green Spikes- Contrary to the name, these mountains are the shortest among all of them, bordering the South Cradle and the East Plains.

17. Snow Port- A small city near the coast of the Goldhead Strait. It is an important trading port, giving the Strix lords their wealth.

18. The Aely- An ominous keep with a large drum tower in the center of it all. Surrounded by marshlands and bordering a river's branch, the castle is hard to intrude.

19. The Choke- A passageway from the east to the north.

20. The Muddy Marshlands- It is what it is named, a marshland. Positioned near the choke at the Red River, it is a natural barrier between the north and the east.

21. The Red River- Just your ordinary river branching out and bordering the Aely and part of the Muddy Marshlands.

22. Grey Burg- A small town near The Tunnels [south entrance].

23. Old Stone- A small town you pass through to get to Westhold.

24. Ten Towns- The largest city in the Northern Island, having ten districts separated by walls with the large keep in the middle. It is rumored to be impenetrable by any means besides starving the people inside. Famous for its three bells.

25. Old Gate- A castle similar to Ten Town's size.

26. The Freelands and The Free Cities- The Freelands are home to the free folk, who are not ruled by either king or queen. They reside in the southernmost point of the kingdom in the four free cities, Cain, Tudora, Mellinia, and Abelos, all ruled by chieftains.

27. Exile Island- Where the Ballister family was imprisoned during the reign of the Strix lords way back.
