Walking up the stairs carrying a stack of flatstones he had just collected from a nearby creek he quickly and locked his door before setting himself on his table.

Before he could start with his experiments though he quickly looked up his skills for moment.

Today he was looking forward to advancing his Rune-Script Magic, State Of Matter Magic and Crafts skills.

And the best way he thought to do that was by carving out runes on dispensable items, that's where the rocks came in.

He wanted to advance Rune-Script above all due to it's versatility. With it he'd be able to create pseudo artifacts if his knowledge obtained from the skill was to be trusted at later points.

He also wanted to ward his house from the supernatural in the case that shit turned real and his mother's life was in danger, to be honest though he knew for a fact that it would at some point.

Which was why he wanted to accelerate his plans.

Another reason why he wanted the skill to be high levelled was that he'd need to ward his warehouse, only then would he have a space where his clones would be out of sight.

From there—he'd start his improvised grinding regiment to quickly complete his most important project.

So with that in mind he paused as hethought of using the Dice Of Fate one more time.

He quickly shook his head at that thought though, he was fearful that his lucky streak would suddenly end and he'll end up beyond fucked with the dice results.

So he would simply use his own capabilities for this one.

First and foremost, he needed tools in order to inscribe rune matrixes.

From the little knowledge he had swimming in his head he knew that there were some material that were just better for rune inscription than others.

These items didn't even need to be magical, though you are encouraged to use magical tools.

Rune Matrixes could be inscribed into a number of things, such as paper, tree bark and a lot of other things.

Though these items would burn out incredibly quickly, this is due to the fact that runes are powerful means of magic.

So having their magic ran through by something mundane and non magical is close to useless as either the rune would explode, not work or malfunction.

So runes needed something that had magic in order to be stabilized.

The flatstones he obtained had an inkling of magic in them due to probably being in a Mana rich area such as the lake he had just visited,so he was utilising that in order to farm skill exp.

The really good mundane material that are safe to be used with runes were minerals like diamonds, jade, crystal's and the like.

Buying those though just to practice on them would be a waste of time, so he'd use stones.

They would be one use though which wasn't really much of a downside, he simply wanted to get good in the skill with his system enough to ward of most threats to his and his mother's life.

So he began.

First he grabbed some iron parts that wouldn't be missed and cast the Spell—Liquid State.

The metal quickly turned liquid, shimmering in the sun's rays.

He found that using the spell was easier and he could even mentally levitate the things affected by the spell, this would come to great use in the future.

That wasn't all that he had obtained though.

He remembered the way he had used this lore of magic back at Lydia's place, how he morphed the floorboards shape while under the effects of the Dice Of Fate.

He remembered how his magic reacted at that point and tried mimicking it.

He found that it really wasn't hard to do, his talent in magic alongside Genius Comprehension doing the heavy load for him.

He enacted his will onto the blob of liquid metal and watched as it shifted from shape to shape.

After a while of trying and succeeding to get used to controlling the shape of the liquid metal, he proceeded to separate the liquid.

From there he put all his focus on the seperated liquid as he slowly morphed it into the shape he wanted.

With his [Craft] skill working alongside [Rune-Script Magic] which granted him the basic knowledge on equipment used to carve runes—he was able to quickly shape the first tool he would need.

The tool looked like a pen for lack of better words, it had a sharp pointed end that would allow him to carve through material and inscribe runes.

Carving runes that were more than decorative needed items like these, allowing him to channel magic into each rune.

That wouldn't be enough though as he needed to have an understanding of the rune he'd carve alongside pushing his intent to the rune through his magic.

He understood that rune magic wasn't as easy as he thought but he still relished the thought of utilising it. Magic through runes, it made him wonder one whether he could derive some other lores of magic through this one skill.

Though that would be in the far future, for now he still needed to focus on his current skills which seemed to increase on a daily.

He thought of making all the rune carving tools there and then but held himself.

His mana was being rapidly used due to his last stunt with magic, probably due to how mana extensive the Matter State Magic was if he went overboard what the spell was intended.

Shaking his head he decided to focus back on training his skill. The makeshift rune-pen would be enough so he began, carving the only runes he knew.
