Chapter 39 - Chapter 38.

Chapter 38.

At lightning-fast speeds, the two fought fiercely for over ten minutes, during which they exchanged blasts of heat vision.

However, whenever their heat rays collided, they exploded violently, nearly burning off their clothes in the aftermath. As if acknowledging the danger, neither of them used heat vision again.

Suddenly, Li Yue –felt the opposing Homelander throw a terrifyingly powerful punch at him!

Not to be outdone, Li Yue responded with a full-force punch of his own, meeting Homelander's attack head-on.

BOOM!!!

The impact sent both of them flying backward nearly a thousand kilometers before they could stabilize themselves. But even then, neither of them immediately rushed in again.

"Haha, that was fun!"

Li Yue laughed. It was the first time he'd fought someone using only physical strength, without relying on his superpowers. He had to admit—it felt incredibly satisfying.

He had transformed his body into an Adamantium alloy, and even after taking a direct hit from Homelander, he didn't feel any pain!

However, it was a different story for Homelander. Despite having a strong physique and boasting a metaphorical "body of steel," when their fists clashed, he could feel that his attacks couldn't harm Li Yue's metallic form at all.

But when Li Yue landed a hit, he clearly felt the pain. What's worse, Li Yue's punches carried traces of lightning, making his body go numb and slowing his movements. He knew this couldn't go on much longer.

Now, the usual confident smile had vanished from Homelander's face, replaced by a solemn expression.

"It looks like it's time to use that," he thought, staring at Li Yue, whose body crackled with lightning.

He had no other choice. The strength he once believed to be unbeatable was proving useless against the opponent standing before him.

Homelander suddenly pulled out a small glass vial filled with a clear blue liquid. He crushed the top and poured the liquid into his mouth!

"What the hell?! You're doping now? This is supposed to be a fair fight!"

Li Yue saw Homelander's move clearly, but he was too far away—several kilometers stood between them—to stop him in time.

But Li Yue wasn't about to just let him power up without interference. In a flash, he activated his teleportation superpower and disappeared from sight!

When he reappeared, he was already in front of Homelander and delivered a powerful punch to his face.

Homelander hadn't expected Li Yue to appear so suddenly, and the punch hit him squarely. His body flipped through the air, and the vial flew out of his hand, spilling the blue liquid into the air!

Li Yue didn't care about the blue substance. He guessed it was Compound V created by the Vought Corporation. He'd have a chance to get his hands on it later—right now, he had to take down this so-called superhero in front of him.

At this point, Li Yue was done holding back. After sending Homelander flying, his body flickered and vanished once again.

Homelander had just managed to stabilize himself and stop spinning through the air, but he was still being propelled backward. Suddenly, Li Yue reappeared behind him, intercepting his flight path and delivering another crushing punch to his back!

Before Homelander could react, he was struck again and sent flying in the opposite direction at even greater speed.

But Li Yue wasn't done. He vanished once more and reappeared directly in Homelander's path, throwing another devastating punch to his face!

Again and again, Homelander was battered back and forth like a ping-pong ball. He was completely at Li Yue's mercy, unable to fight back.

At this point, Homelander was truly in trouble. He had no control over his movements and could do nothing but get tossed around by Li Yue.

Although Li Yue's attacks weren't fatal, being knocked around like this was humiliating beyond words.

The pain he felt was nothing compared to the shame.

Yet no matter how furious or humiliated he felt, there was nothing he could do. He was completely outmatched.

After a few minutes, Li Yue realized that no matter how many times he hit Homelander, he couldn't deal any fatal damage. He even tried to shape his hand into a blade to cut him, but he couldn't leave so much as a scratch—let alone draw blood.

Li Yue had expected this. The two of them were evenly matched in terms of strength, and brute force alone wouldn't be enough. However, Li Yue's superpowers gave him an edge, allowing him to suppress Homelander and completely dominate the battle.

Since physical attacks weren't working, it was time to switch tactics.

With that thought, Li Yue vanished once more and appeared above Homelander. With one powerful kick, he slammed Homelander down to the ground. Then, he disappeared again.

He reappeared in the air not far from the ground—about a hundred meters above a mountain.

Hovering midair, Li Yue positioned his hands at his waist, palms facing each other as if holding an invisible ball. He bent slightly forward, and the lightning surrounding his body all began to gather along his arms toward his palms, like streams returning to river, forming a silvery-white sphere of concentrated lightning between them.

As more and more energy gathered, the ball grew denser and denser. What started out the size of a ping pong ball soon expanded to the size of a basketball.

The distance between his hands widened as he charged the attack, until finally, he stopped channeling lightning.

At this point, it looked like he was holding a small fucking star in his hands—it radiated such intense light that it outshone the sun at that moment, making it impossible to look directly at.

But Li Yue wasn't done yet.

Next, he began channeling the blue energy from his spiritual sea into the sphere. As his hands moved, the blinding lightning orb—now the size of a basketball—began to compress. Slowly, the glowing white energy started to blend with traces of blue light. The mixture grew richer and more vibrant until the two energies fused completely.

Only then did Li Yue stop adding energy.

At this moment, the energy ball in Li Yue's hands had grown to the size of a football. The blend of blue and white hues looked harmonious to the eye, but the terrifying energy contained within it could clearly be felt by Li Yue himself—it had reached the very upper limit of what he could control!

Anymore and he would blow it upon himself!

Although his movements appeared slow, the entire process had taken only a few seconds.

Just as Li Yue stopped, a figure plummeted from the sky like a meteor and slammed fiercely into the mountain below him.

Boom!!!

A deafening explosion echoed as the peak was blasted into a massive crater by the impact. Rocks flew in every direction!

Seeing this, Li Yue thrust his hands toward the figure's position. The sphere in his palms transformed into a spiralin–g blue and white energy beam, shooting straight at the impact site!

From atop another mountain in the distance, a young man watched the scene unfold, utterly stunned.

"This move… could it be…?"

The beam of light traveled at incredible speed, striking the figure embedded in the mountain almost instantaneously.

Homelander, who had just been smashed into the mountain like a meteor by Li Yue, exhaled a sigh of relief. His body was still wracked with pain, but at least he had finally come to a stop.

However, before he could even attempt to stand, a beam of energy slammed directly into his chest from the sky. He felt an overwhelming impact that he couldn't resist. The sheer force blasted him even deeper into the mountain, and small cracks started to appear all over his body under the immense pressure.

A few seconds later, the beam dissipated, leaving behind only a bottomless black hole where the superhero had fallen.

Then, a crack began to form from the base of the nearby mountain—nearly a thousand kilometers tall. The crack spread outward like a network of trenches, slowly climbing up the mountain's surface.

In mere seconds, the entire mountain was riddled with fractures of all shapes and sizes, glowing with a brilliant radiance, as if some sacred treasure hidden within the mountain was about to be unleashed.

BOOM!!!

As the glow intensified, a thunderous explosion erupted. The mountain beneath Li Yue crumbled and shattered into countless massive boulders that flew outward in all directions! The youth watching from the opposite peak was so frightened he frantically searched for cover, terrified of being hit by the flying debris.

But what happened next stunned him into stillness.

It was as if time had reversed. The scattered boulders stopped mid-air, then began flying backward, returning along their original trajectories.

A dazzling blue light followed, so bright that it was blinding. And the flying debris, now caught in that light, began to shrink and disintegrate into nothing—vanishing like foam into thin air.

After several seconds, the blue light finally faded. The young man cautiously opened his eyes and looked at the area where the mountain had once stood—and he gasped in shock.

"This... this really was the Kamehameha! Good thing I didn't choose to climb that mountain today, or there wouldn't be anything left of me!"

Where the mountain had once stood, there was now no trace of it left—only a colossal, bowl-shaped crater over tens of thousand metres wide. It looked exactly like a meteorite impact site straight out of the Dragon Ball anime.

"Heh, looks like my combat power is way more than just a hundred now in Dragon Ball power scaling," Li Yue remarked as he gazed at the destruction he had caused. Still, he didn't seem fully satisfied. Although he had tried to replicate the Kamehameha attack, it clearly wasn't as powerful as the original.

He had used every ounce of strength he had. Looking at the small crater only a few tens of kilometer deep, he felt slightly disappointed.

Of course, before launching his attack, Li Yue had mentally checked to ensure there were no people nearby. Knowing it was safe, he had unleashed his full power without hesitation.

Now, with the battle still unresolved, Li Yue needed to confirm the status of Homelander.

With that thought, his figure flickered and vanished from where he stood.

When he reappeared, he was already at the bottom of the crater. In the center of the pit, a figure lay motionless, eyes closed. His body was covered in numerous small wounds, and blood slowly trickled out. Arcs of electricity flickered across his injuries—it was a pitiful sight.

Homelander looked dead. He wasn't moving, and no breath could be detected.

"Dead? No, I'd better finish the job."

Li Yue muttered to himself, and red light glowed in his eyes. Twin red beams shot out, aimed directly at the unmoving figure.

But just as Li Yue's eyes lit up, the "dead" man reacted like a cat being stepped on. Homelander sprang up from the ground in an instant! Without saying a word, he shot into the sky at full speed, fleeing upward.

"I knew you wouldn't die that easily!"

Li Yue launched into the sky after him, hot on his heels.

"Damn it! In all those movies I filmed before, when the hero lies on the ground pretending to be dead, the enemy always walks up to check—and that's when you strike back and win! All that crap was a lie!"

As he fled with all his might, Homelander cursed every movie director who had ever sold him that idea.

But feeling Li Yue rapidly gaining on him from behind, he had no choice but to abandon all other thoughts and flee with every bit of strength he had—hoping, somehow, to escape.

Homelander had just taken a devastating blow, and he was far from fine. The steel-like body he had always prided himself on had suffered significant damage from that attack—so much so that, for the first time since growing up, he had actually bled.

Although the attack wasn't fatal, it had seriously injured him. Homelander now had a clear understanding of Li Yue's power, and it was definitely above his own. Most concerning was Li Yue's teleportation ability—it was absurdly overpowered!

Thinking about that, Homelander instinctively changed his flight pattern. He had previously been flying in a straight line, but now he started zigzagging unpredictably, never staying in one direction for long.

This made things a lot harder for Li Yue, who was chasing from behind. At the moment, Li Yue was only able to use about 70% of his full power. He could compensate for strength and stamina using various techniques, but his flight speed was still subpar.

Fortunately, the injuries Homelander had sustained earlier had significantly slowed him down—he was only a bit faster than Li Yue now.

But Li Yue had teleportation, which helped make up for his slower speed. Thanks to that, he wasn't falling far behind the superhero.

Li Yue had originally planned to teleport right in front of Homelander to catch him off guard, but the latter's erratic flight pattern made it impossible to predict where he'd go next. Even when Li Yue tried to teleport directly above him, Homelander would instantly shoot hundreds of meters away the moment he appeared.

Left with no better option, Li Yue was forced to engage in a high-speed aerial chase. The two of them zipped through the sky at speeds nearly twenty times faster than sound. But after a few minutes, Li Yue began to notice something promising—Homelander's speed was gradually dropping!

It seemed that the injuries he'd received were taking their toll during this high-speed escape, and he was no longer able to maintain full speed.

After more than ten minutes of relentless pursuit, Li Yue's speed finally surpassed his opponent's. He was getting closer with every second.

Eventually, the exhausted Homelander was overtaken. Li Yue reached out mid-flight, grabbed him by the neck, and forcefully dived toward the ground.

"I told you to give me a ride earlier," Li Yue growled, "Now I'll let you feel what that is like!"

Unknowingly, the chase had brought the two of them above a large city. Hovering in the sky, Li Yue scanned the landscape below—towering buildings, bustling streets—and hesitated for a moment, wondering where he should crash-land.

Just then, something caught his eye.

His face lit up with an idea.

"Perfect. Buy me that abandoned building. And use his bank account!"

Li Yue gave the command to Xiaodou, his AI assistant. Then, still gripping Homelander by the neck, he shot downward toward a massive, unfinished skyscraper that stood hundreds of meters tall.

"Sir, the transaction is complete. The building is now officially yours."

Came the reply in his earpiece.

Li Yue smirked.

"Great. Time to redecorate it—with impact!"
