Chapter 234 - Chapter 233: A Journey of Surprises

The sun cast its final golden rays over the rolling hills as the van carrying Bella's family approached the outskirts of the city. Her parents, younger brother Arthur, Uncle Peter, and two of her aunts were all wide-eyed with wonder, drinking in the unfamiliar sights that unfolded around them. Towering buildings, neatly paved roads, glowing billboards, and endless rows of shining streetlights—it was a world unlike any they had known.

Everything looked new and vibrant. Even the trees along the roadside seemed to stand taller, as if they too were proud to be part of such a city.

"Is this really where Bella lives now?" her mother asked, eyes sparkling with amazement.

Her father nodded slowly, taking in the view. "It's beautiful," he said. "But so different from home."

Bella's younger brother, James, had been filming most of the journey on his phone, adding colorful commentary for the friends he planned to share it with back in Uganda.

"This city looks like one of those places in the movies," he said, leaning against the window. "Bella's been holding out on us."

Their guide, a soft-spoken Ugandan man named Moses, sat at the front of the van beside the driver. Though he didn't know Bella personally—and had never met Jr—he had stepped in as part of a favor requested by a friend of a very important person: Ambassador Walusimbi Anthony.

When Jr had reached out to the Ugandan ambassador for help in bringing Bella's family over, he hadn't expected such a swift and heartfelt response. Ambassador Walusimbi had gone above and beyond. He had made a few calls to close friends back home, explaining the situation, and Moses had volunteered immediately to assist.

"It's an honor," Moses had said when the ambassador explained the mission. "I don't know the couple, but if it brings joy to them, count me in."

Now, guiding the family through the city streets, Moses felt a quiet satisfaction. He could already tell they were in awe of their surroundings.

"We'll stop for a nice supper before heading to the estate," Moses said, glancing over his shoulder with a warm smile. "You've been traveling for a long time. A good meal will help you settle in."

Everyone agreed eagerly. Though they were still nearly two weeks away from traveling to Greenwood for the wedding, Jr had arranged for them to arrive early, rest, and enjoy their time in the country before the big day.

Moses led them to a charming hotel with a welcoming glow and an aroma that promised an unforgettable meal. Inside, the family was seated in a quiet dining room where soft music played and the walls were decorated with local art. The staff treated them like royalty.

The menu offered a fusion of African and international dishes. Bella's aunts excitedly tried seafood for the first time, while her father stuck with familiar ingredients prepared in an unfamiliar, yet delicious way. Her mother, delighted, kept looking around at the decor, the service, and the food with shining eyes.

"This is more than we ever imagined," she said to Moses. "Please thank whoever is behind all of this."

"I will," Moses replied kindly, though he made no mention of Jr. The ambassador had instructed him to keep things discreet until the wedding day.

After the meal, they continued the journey through the quiet streets under the blanket of night. Around 11 p.m., they arrived at a private estate nestled in an exclusive residential area. The gates opened smoothly as their vehicle approached, revealing a beautifully landscaped garden and a spacious, modern mansion glowing gently in the moonlight.

Uniformed maids waited by the entrance, ready to receive the guests with practiced elegance. They greeted each family member with a polite bow and warm smiles, quickly guiding them to their assigned rooms.

The inside of the estate was breathtaking. High ceilings, soft lighting, modern furnishings, and tasteful cultural art made the space feel both luxurious and comforting. Each room had been prepared with care—fresh flowers, fruit baskets, plush beds, and thoughtful welcome notes written in elegant handwriting.

Bella's mother paused as she stepped into her suite. The soft scent of lavender and the gentle hum of air conditioning welcomed her. "I never thought I'd see a place like this," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion.

Her husband placed a hand on her shoulder. "Our daughter is marrying into something different," he said thoughtfully. "But I can feel it—this isn't just about money. This is about love. Respect."

William darted into his own room and immediately jumped onto the bed with a laugh. "This is better than any hotel I've seen on TV!"

In the living room downstairs, Moses checked his phone. A message had just come through from Ambassador Walusimbi.

Ambassador Walusimbi: Moses, thank you. Let me inform Jr that the family is safe and settled.

Moses replied with a thumbs-up emoji and a short note: All is well. They are happy and amazed.

The ambassador, seated in his quiet office in GreenWood, immediately passed the update to Jr.

Ambassador Walusimbi to Jr: They've arrived safely. Moses took good care of them. Everything is going smoothly.

Jr, sitting on the balcony of his high-rise apartment, looked out at the city lights as he read the message. A soft smile tugged at his lips.

"Good," he whispered to himself. "She has no idea what's coming."

He could picture it so clearly—Bella standing at the altar in Greenwood, unaware that her parents, her brother, her uncle, and her beloved aunts were already in the country, waiting to surprise her. The look of disbelief, the tears, the joy—that was the moment he was living for.

"I want her to know that she's loved," he said softly, still gazing into the night. "By me. And by the people who helped make this possible."

He knew he owed a debt of gratitude to the ambassador and to kind strangers like Moses who had stepped up simply out of goodwill. This wasn't just a wedding. It was a union of two lives, two cultures, and a bridge built by compassion and care.

Back at the estate, Bella's family slowly drifted to sleep, their hearts full and minds overwhelmed with all they had seen. There were still two weeks to explore, relax, and prepare for the big event in Greenwood, but tonight marked the beginning of something unforgettable.

And somewhere in the quiet of the night, miles away, Jr whispered a silent thank-you—to fate, to friends, and to love—for bringing all the pieces together.
