TL/N: Sorry, I had a viral infection the last few days, so I couldn't upload.
To be honest, Leonid and Claude's reactions were a bit beyond Raymond's expectations as well.
The "Gun Kata" thing was obviously something he made up. Even if the "Deadshot" personality really did know some weird shooting tricks that could make bullets bend, it definitely wasn't done by a simple flick of the wrist.
But with Claude and the others pushing him like that, he couldn't just keep quiet, so he casually made up a funny little story to fend them off.
Whether they believed it or not didn't matter to Raymond.
Still, Raymond hadn't expected Leonid and Claude to believe it so easily.
He could somewhat understand Leonid defending the so-called Gun Kata because Leonid had lost to them. Of course, he wouldn't deny the technique that had defeated him. Just out of pride, he had to support Raymond.
But Claude's support was a bit surprising for Raymond.
"When I get back, I'll immediately arrange the internal notice and promotion for your comprehensive combat class. Everything should be ready before the next semester starts," Leonid said.
"Thanks for the help."
"No trouble at all..." Leonid's attitude towards Raymond was now completely different from the half-hearted politeness he had shown earlier in his office.
"With Doctor Raymond's skills, the Combat Academy will be thrilled to have such a trump card. How could they think it's troublesome?" Claude's tone sounded a bit jealous.
But with his level of experience, there was no way he would really show all his feelings. The jealousy he showed was probably intentional.
Raymond wasn't a rookie who had just started dealing with people. He just smiled and didn't say anything.
Since it was already the middle of the semester, even if they decided to open a new class, it wouldn't be something that could start immediately. They would have to wait for the next semester, which was still about a month away.
A month wasn't really that long.
But for Raymond, who had been in this world for less than a week, a month felt quite significant.
In that time, he could sort out a few important things.
First, he needed to understand the original body's relationships in this world—family, friends, and so on.
After all, he had taken on someone else's identity, and he was going to live as that person from now on. Sooner or later he would have to deal with it.
Even for his own peace of mind, he couldn't completely cut the ties with the original person's past.
Besides, he didn't really dislike the idea. In his previous life, he was an orphan who grew up in an orphanage and later chose to become a soldier. After he retired, he opened his own agency.
Having a family was something new and interesting to him.
...
Ding dong!
The doorbell rang.
"Clarice, can you get the door and see who it is?"
"Okay, Mom."
Thump thump thump... The sound of quick footsteps came and the front door opened slightly from the inside, leaving only a small gap as the security chain was still locked.
A lively looking Asian girl appeared behind the door.
When she saw the person standing outside, she froze in shock!
"Aren't you going to let me in, little Clary?" the young man outside said with a warm smile.
Of course, the man ringing the doorbell was Raymond.
With the matter of the Academy's new class settled, there wasn't much else that needed his attention. Leonid would take care of all the course arrangements and enrollment.
Since he had "remembered" the body's family background, Raymond decided to come straight over.
From those memories, he knew that the original corpse's father was Fang Mo, known in English as Edward, the chief of a local police station and the only Chinese chief in Richmond.
His mother, Roland Aden, was a white woman from Richmond and worked as a public prosecutor.
At first, their marriage wasn't well received by Raymond's maternal grandfather's side, because Fang Mo was an ordinary policeman, while Roland was a top law graduate from an Ivy League school. Her future looked much brighter than Fang Mo's.
Although North American parents usually don't interfere much in their children's marriages, that doesn't mean they don't care at all.
At least in attitude, there were clear differences.
In the eyes of Raymond's grandfather, his daughter could have found someone better. He thought that Roland must have been tricked by Fang Mo's sweet words into marrying a man with little future.
Besides, Fang Mo had a stubborn personality and refused to bow down, so her relationship with Roland's family was very tense for the first few years after their marriage.
It wasn't until Raymond was born that things started to get better.
It's worth mentioning that Raymond's name is not Raymond; that's just his English name. His Chinese name is Fang Mingxuan, and his full registered name is Raymond Fang.
As for the Asian girl who opened the door, she was his younger sister, Clarice.
However, Clarice wasn't the biological daughter of Fang Mo and Roland. They adopted her after Raymond left for college.
With their professions, it wasn't hard for them to adopt a child.
"Clarice? Who's at the door? Why is it so quiet?"
While Clarice was still frozen after seeing Raymond, Roland, who was inside preparing dinner, thought something had gone wrong and rushed over.
Clarice snapped out of it, turned excitedly to Roland and said, "Brother's back!"
"Brother?" Roland was stunned.
Apparently she hadn't realized who Clarice was talking about.
Clarice quickly closed the door, unlocked the security chain, and opened the door wide so that Roland could see Raymond standing outside.
At the same time, Raymond saw the graceful-looking middle-aged woman standing in the hallway.
"Mom."
The unfamiliar word came out naturally, as if it were a reaction of the body's instincts.
Clatter!
Standing there with a wooden spatula in her hand, Roland froze the moment she saw Raymond. She didn't move at all, and the spatula slipped from her hand to the floor without her noticing.
