Chapter 9 - Weapons up

There's an old saying—"Never bring a sword to a gunfight." Makes sense, right? Guns are fast, deadly, and it don't require you to have the technical know-how to swinging a lump of metal. But in this world? That logic gets drop-kicked out a window

Flashback—Earlier That Day

I was in class, lost in thought, mentally replaying the most epic battle scenes from anime. Except, instead of the main character, it was me in the starring role, slicing through enemies like they were butter with my holy blade. Then reality decided to ruin my fun.

'What weapon should I go for?'

A moment later, a more realistic question hit me—'What weapon can I even use with my stats so low?'

Sighing, I reached out through the telepathic link. "Emily, where are you? I have a question."

I didn't expect a response right away, so when her voice rang in my head almost instantly, I nearly jumped.

"What is it? I was in the middle of something very important ."

'something important that weird i never took her for a serious person' i thought

"Do you think I can use a mallet?"

There was silence. Then Emily's deadpan voice echoed in my mind.

"you call me for that, well sorry to rain on your parade but You can barely deal damage with a dagger, let alone a sword. A mallet? But"

She even made a thoughtful humming sound, as if she was actually considering it.

"It'd be best if you used a gun. You already have some experience with them, right?"

I frowned. "Why a gun? I thought the academy was supposed to train us to use any weapon of our choice."

Emily didn't even hesitate. "Your stats are the problem. But if you don't like my advice you do you. I have better things to do "

Translation :i am on my own on this

And with that, she vanished.

End of Flashback

That's how I ended up holding a Desert Eagle in my hands, much to the surprise of Mr. Roy, our weapons instructor.

"So, this is what you've chosen?" He raised an eyebrow. "I have to say, I'm a bit taken aback."

I could already tell where this was going.

"You do know that your next weapon purchase will be coming out of your own budget, right?" His tone was casual, but I could hear the subtle are you sure about this? in his words.

I admired his concern, but it was already too late.

"I think this is my best chance to be a hunter," I said, trying to sound confident. "I don't have the physical ability that most hunters need, and attacking from afar seems safer."

A total lie. I was mostly trying to fool myself into believing the gun was a good idea.

To my relief, Mr. Roy didn't push further. Instead, he just walked away, and unbeknownst to me a smirk appeared on his face "This kid seems like he's going to be fun to watch."

In front the class mr roy looked at us and announced "Alright, now that you all have your weapons, if you haven't picked one yet—hurry up. Our next stop is the Stellar Dungeon!"

Mr. Roy's cheerful announcement sent a wave of unease through the students.

'Huh. He's joking, right?'

A moment later, I stood in front of a massive blue cube-shaped portal at the bottom of the school.

'He's not joking.'

"This is a Ruined Domain," Mr. Roy explained, gesturing toward the dungeon. "A dungeon said to have once been home to a civilization but is now overrun by monsters, this is one of five dungeon ."

A sharp breath rippled through the students.

"Now, before we enter, let me explain how this works." He lifted his hand, revealing a sleek black bracelet with a white line running around it .

"This is an Inventorial's Receiver," he continued. "Point it at an item, weapon, or even a dead monster, and it breaks them down into mana particles, storing them inside theInventorial itself" as he points to the little backpack like object on his back (same color) . "and You can retrieve them whenever you need.note storage is limited"

Then he added, "Unfortunately, it doesn't work on human bodies."

As if that was some kind of tragedy.

'Who the hell thought we'd use it on humans?' I thought.

Mr. Roy clapped his hands together. "Now then! Today, you'll have your first monster encounter. Your mission—" he paused for effect, "—is to kill three Goblins each. Should be easy enough!"

Silence.

Then, a student—the kind who screamed NPC energy—raised his hand.

"But sir, we haven't had enough training. We aren't used to dungeons yet!"

Mr. Roy smiled.

And at that moment, I knew we were screwed.

"A wise man once said, 'Experience is the best teacher.'" His smile widened. "So what better way to teach you than to let you learn firsthand?"

I didn't like where this was going.

"And also," he added, stretching his arms lazily, "I'm in a bad mood. And this might just makes my day."

…Did this guy want us dead?

"of course to make sure no one dies i will be there to supervise so you all may rest easy" mr roy added

'for some reason it made me feel worse'

In the changing room as i was suiting up i called out to Emily

"Emily what do I do I'm dead if the moment I enter the dungeon"

Emily though not present i could hear her voice "don't worry just focus on shooting"

"easy for you to say your not the one heading through death's doors"

"trust me three shot should be enough or you can just aim for the head, oh am really busy bye, try not to die"

Yea I'm dead
