Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: The Beastly Mo Cheng

Chapter 60: The Beastly Mo Cheng

"Gulp... You three lords... I am Mo Cheng, the Grand Elder of the Mo Clan…"

As the backbone and strongest member of the Mo Clan, Mo Cheng, under the watchful eyes of all the clan's higher ups, could only step forward reluctantly, cupping his hands and bowing deeply.

Swallowing hard, Mo Cheng gritted his teeth, bearing the immense pressure from above as his body trembled. He forced himself to ask, "What brings the three of you here to honor our humble clan?"

Though his head was lowered in apparent submission, a faint glint of madness flickered in his bloodshot eyes.

His transplanted magical beast limbs had granted him tremendous power, but they also came with a price: his mind was slowly being consumed by beastly instincts.

"You old fool, didn't you say you wanted my eyes? Well, here I am. Aren't you going to take a look at me now?"

Hearing this familiar voice, a chill ran down Mo Cheng's spine, his scalp tingling as if about to explode.

Instinctively, he raised his head. His gaze locked onto a pair of emerald green eyes, where three small flowers slowly rotated. A formless power rippled forth, shaking his soul and leaving him dazed.

At the same time, Lu Bu and his companions removed their black robes, revealing their faces.

"You... You…!"

Mo Cheng's face turned pale as cold sweat dripped down his forehead. His legs instinctively moved back as his eyes widened at Lu Bu in disbelief.

How could this be? Just half a month ago, this man was merely at the peak of the Dou Ling level. How had he suddenly become a Dou Huang?

But before he could fully process this, a scarlet glow engulfed his eyes, his pupils turning entirely crimson.

"Roar!!"

A feral roar erupted from Mo Cheng's throat. His left arm swelled grotesquely, deep red Dou Qi surging out like a torrent.

"Mountain Breaking Arm!"

With a shrill screech, Mo Cheng swung his massive beastly arm like a siege hammer, smashing it down toward… Lu Bu!

Hai Bodong, who had been poised to counter the attack, was caught off guard by Mo Cheng's sudden shift in target. He paused momentarily before stepping back with a grin.

"Interesting…" Hai Bodong muttered, relaxing his stance as he moved aside to watch.

Boom!

Simultaneously, Mo Lan, the Mo Clan patriarch, erupted with Dou Qi. His clawed weapon gleamed with sharp green energy as he aimed straight for Qing Lin's head.

The two worked in perfect unison, exploiting what they believed to be the Dou Huang's weaknesses: his companions. Capturing them might give the Mo Clan a slim chance at survival.

Hai Bodong's gaze chilled as he noticed several Mo Guards preparing to join the fray. The icy aura radiating from him froze their movements, leaving them paralyzed on the spot.

Meanwhile, Mo Cheng's eyes burned with madness as he convinced himself of his victory.

This pretty boy must be the Dou Huang's weakness. Targeting him is the key to winning!

I defeated them once, and I can do it again!

The advantage is mine, and victory is in sight!

"Roar !!"

A twisted excitement flared in Mo Cheng's crimson eyes. The deep red flames spiraling around his massive claw were enough to make even a Dou Wang retreat.

Smack!

A loud crack echoed as Lu Bu raised his hand and effortlessly caught the beastly claw.

"What are you doing?" Lu Bu frowned, his tone annoyed. "Weren't you aiming for Hai Bodong? Why the sudden change of heart?"

"What… What?!"

Mo Cheng's eyes bulged in disbelief. How was this possible? This boy hadn't even released any Dou Qi, yet he had caught his Mountain Breaking Arm barehanded?

"Annoying!"

At that moment, Mo Lan's attack reached them. Lu Bu snorted coldly, gripping Mo Cheng's massive claw tightly. With a flick of his wrist, Mo Cheng's body was yanked into the air and hurled toward Mo Lan.

"Damn it!" Mo Lan cried out in alarm as the airborne Mo Cheng hurtled toward him.

Crash!

A deafening impact echoed as the two collided. Mo Lan's vision blurred, his head spinning as he was sent flying backward, crashing into the ground with a heavy thud.

Rip!

Mo Cheng's clothes tore apart as he struggled to regain his balance, his black wings flapping erratically. His grotesque beastly arm twitched unnervingly, drawing looks of revulsion from everyone present.

"This pretty boy… I must kill him!"

Mo Cheng's expression twisted with fear and rage. He had chosen the path of beastly transformation to gain power, not to become a monster. Yet, here he was, being treated with scorn and disdain.

"Noble sir, I admit there's been some misunderstanding between us," Mo Cheng said, his voice trembling as he tried to suppress his anger and madness. "But you should know… the Mo Clan has ties to the Misty Cloud Sect!"

"The Misty Cloud Sect's Young Sect Mistress, Nalan Yanran, is already en route to our clan. I urge you to resolve this peacefully."

Having realized the Mo Clan could not possibly defeat a Dou Huang, Mo Cheng resorted to invoking the Misty Cloud Sect as his last hope.

"Misunderstanding? Where was this talk of a misunderstanding when you killed my two headed Flame Spirit Serpent?!"

Qing Lin stepped forward, her green eyes brimming with tears and rage. The three flowers within her pupils spun rapidly, reflecting her emotional turmoil.

When she and Lu Bu had revisited the gorge, they found nothing but the mutilated remains of the serpent. Its head had been severed, its skull split open, and its magic core taken.

"Damn it. What trouble has the elder stirred up this time?"

The Mo Clan elders, who had been watching in fear, were struck with panic. Their escape attempts were thwarted by reports that the yellow barrier encasing the estate was impenetrable.

"I already said it was a misunderstanding!" Mo Cheng shouted, growing desperate. "The Mo Clan's relationship with the Misty Cloud Sect runs deep "

"Shut up!"

Lu Bu's voice boomed as he raised his palm. A blue flame materialized, forming a fiery serpent that surged toward Mo Cheng like a streak of lightning.

Mo Cheng's face turned ashen as he realized the serpent was locked onto him, its energy honing in on his presence with deadly precision.

"Wait! I didn't kill the serpent!" Mo Cheng screamed, flapping his wings as he retreated desperately.

"Oh?" Lu Bu arched a brow. "If it wasn't you, then who was it?"

Seeing a flicker of hope, Mo Cheng seized the opportunity. His massive beastly claw grabbed several nearby Mo Guards and threw them into the path of the fire serpent as shields.

Boom!

The fiery serpent consumed the guards and Mo Cheng's beastly arm in an instant, reducing them to ash.

"Ahhh!" Mo Cheng collapsed to the ground, clutching his smoldering shoulder as he howled in agony.

"W What kind of flame is that?" The Mo Clan elders quivered in fear. Mo Cheng, a skilled fire Dou Qi user, had been utterly helpless against the blue flames.

"How is this possible?!"

"Now, tell me," Lu Bu said coldly, extinguishing the flames dancing on his fingertips. "Who killed the two headed Flame Spirit Serpent?"

"It was Mo Ran! He killed it!" Mo Cheng screamed. "The magic core is with him!"

Among the crowd, Mo Ran who had been trying to hide went pale as death. His doom had arrived.
