The drive back home went by in a blur. It was already night when Isabella reached home. The rain was still pouring heavily, and the gloomy weather and the darkness outside matched the turmoil within her. Her mind kept replaying the confrontation with Nicholas.
She parked her car and leaned on her seat as she slowly collected her thoughts. Each word they exchanged between them was slowly repeating in her mind.
As she finally collected her thoughts, she realized that she had overreacted. She didn't handle the situation as rationally as she should have.
When she learned that Nicholas had met them without her knowledge, all her rationality went out of the window in an instant. And instead of that, anger and fear rushed into her mind.
All she wanted to do at that time was confront him. She was furious at the fact that, in just one meeting, he had won the children's hearts. But more than anger, what she felt was fear.
