Chapter 63 - #63

----------------------

Ding~ Your wizard profession has been upgraded!

Current level: Wizard Level 4.

You have obtained 1 attribute point, 1 skill point, and a talent draw.

----------------------

Ted considered his options and decided to allocate the attribute point to "Spirit."

Spirit was the core attribute for both wizards and psions. Since it influenced his magical prowess and mental abilities, increasing it was always a solid investment.

As for the skill point, Ted placed it into "Magic Power."

Unlike other skills like Spells, Transfiguration, Potions, or Herbology, which he could still improve through independent study, Magic Power was different.

It had inherent limitations, and while it could grow naturally, progress was slow. Enhancing it now would give him a direct boost.

And boost him, it did.

The moment Ted finalized his choice, he felt a surge of raw energy within him. His magic rioted violently, pulsing outwards in uncontrollable waves.

Objects in his dorm room began to levitate. The air crackled with stray magical currents.

Mirrors cracked, tiles shattered, and books flew from their shelves, caught in a vortex of Ted's overflowing power.

He barely managed to stumble into the bathroom before the magic spiraled further out of control.

For ten whole minutes, he was trapped in the grip of what could only be described as a "Second Magic Riot."

Then, as suddenly as it had begun, the chaos subsided. The wild magic settled back into his body, now exponentially stronger than before.

Ted took a deep breath, assessing the changes.

By magical power alone, he now surpassed an average adult wizard. Even some novice Aurors would struggle against him.

With his wand in hand, his Magic Power had reached Level 6—matching or even exceeding that of some Hogwarts professors.

For example, Professor Trelawney, whom Ted had accidentally identified once, had only Magic Power Level 5.

Though, to be fair, she had Divination Level 7. At least that confirmed she was competent in her own field.

Shaking off the lingering effects of the surge, Ted cast "Reparo," restoring the bathroom to its previous state as if nothing had happened.

Now, for the real highlight—his talent draw.

"System, draw talent!"

Three cards appeared before him, floating in his mind like digital holograms.

The first card was framed in blue, depicting a figure standing amidst towering spikes of ice.

______________________

[Ice Blood (Blue)]

Grants the blood of ice.

Ice magic casting difficulty reduced by 15%.

Ice magic power increased by 20%.

High probability of causing slowing or freezing effects.

Immunity to cold and snow.

Note: May negatively impact fire magic learning and casting. Otherwise, this would be a red-tier talent.

Ted pondered. Reduced casting difficulty meant that spells requiring wands or incantations might be cast with just a gesture.

The power boost was impressive, and the freezing effect offered excellent battlefield control.

But the downside? Fire magic might become harder to use. That was a serious drawback.

He turned his attention to the second card, framed in red. The image depicted a wizard casting a spell while a shadow behind them mimicked the same action.

----------------------

[Double Casting (Red)]

A chance to cast two spells simultaneously.

The second spell does not consume additional magic power.

----------------------

Ted's eyes widened.

Double-casting? That was broken.

Imagine throwing a Disarming Charm—only for it to split into two! Duelists who prided themselves on blocking spells would be overwhelmed in an instant. Defensive spells could be layered twice, making breaking through his protections twice as hard.

This talent was ridiculously strong.

Finally, Ted examined the third card—a purple frame. The artwork depicted a lone figure studying at a desk, surrounded by stacks of books.

----------------------

[God of Learning (Purple)]

Drastically improves learning efficiency.

Complex knowledge and skills become easier to understand.

-20% experience cost for magic upgrades.

-10% experience cost for level-ups.

Note: Effectiveness is influenced by Intelligence and Spirit attributes.

----------------------

Ted didn't even hesitate.

He had just hit Level 4, and he knew leveling further would take a lot of experience.

A 10% discount on level-ups would save him tons of grinding in the long run.

And the 20% reduction in magic upgrade costs? He hadn't spent experience on magic yet, preferring to learn naturally, but that would change in the future.

Higher-level spells required enormous effort to master.

This talent would make acquiring them significantly easier.

Plus, the general learning boost? That alone was invaluable.

It was an easy choice.

"I choose God of Learning."

The moment he made his selection, a wave of clarity washed over him.

It felt as though his mind had expanded, as if difficult concepts had become less intimidating and complex knowledge now made more sense.

...

After gaining the [God of Learning (Purple)] talent, Ted's learning efficiency skyrocketed once again.

He had already been ahead of most students, even surpassing Hermione in sheer speed.

Hermione, known as the brightest witch of her age, could master an entire semester's coursework in half the time.

But now, Ted could accomplish in a single day what would take her multiple days to process.

With this newfound advantage, Ted was able to "decipher, transcribe, and develop" new spells nearly every day.

The recently acquired "Mind Stealing" spell was something he had basically mastered.

However, ethical concerns prevented him from testing it on his classmates.

Instead, he resorted to using a batch of white mice he had quickly acquired.

Ansu, his raven companion, was thrilled by the new snack supply.

Ted's mastery of Mind Stealing directly advanced his psychic abilities to level 2.

In just two weeks, he managed to "invent" five new spells: Frost Nova (commonly referred to as Ice Ring), Flame Shock, Arcane Missile, Detect Secret Door, and Protection Against Evil.

Frost Nova: A burst of icy magic radiates outward from the caster, dealing frost damage and freezing all nearby enemies in place.

Commonly called the Ring of Ice, this spell was a staple survival tool among Azeroth's mages.

Ted knew that if he ever got caught in a fight, this spell would allow him to freeze opponents in their tracks and escape or counterattack.

Flame Shock: A blast of fire magic that instantly strikes the target, dealing immediate fire damage.

The key advantage of this spell was its speed—no projectiles, no travel time, just instant impact.

There was no dodging or blocking it, making it a reliable offensive move. Of course, its sheer power was limited. Otherwise, the spell might as well be called 'Cremation.'

Arcane Missile: Fires several homing arcane projectiles at the target.

The spell's greatest strength was its tracking ability.

Unless the enemy pulled off some sort of absurd acrobatic evasion, like a triple aerial somersault through a tiny gap, there was little chance of escape.

Ted tested it and found that it could carve a two-to-three-centimeter crater into the bark of an ancient tree.

Against flesh and bone? The damage would be significant.

Detect Secret Door: A spell that reveals all hidden doors within a 60-foot radius.

Designed specifically for Hogwarts' endless supply of hidden passages and secret rooms, this spell illuminated concealed doors with a distinct blue magical glow, making them easily detectable to Ted's eyes.

Protection Against Evil: A defensive enchantment that grants the caster various advantages when facing dark creatures.

It worked similarly to a "Muggle Repelling Charm" but instead of making the affected creatures feel an inexplicable sense of unease, it actively weakened them, reducing their combat effectiveness by 20-30%.

Ted had developed this spell specifically in preparation for the dark creatures lurking in the magical world.

If he ever encountered Hogwarts' 'Three Forbidden Creatures' again—Fluffy, the Basilisk, or Dementors—this spell would at least give him an edge.

Ted's sudden surge in magical proficiency didn't go unnoticed.

While his friends didn't question it too much (they were just happy that he had less time to do homework, meaning more opportunities to copy his work), Hermione was in full crisis mode.

She had always secretly viewed Ted as her greatest academic rival.

Before, she could at least keep pace with him through sheer determination and relentless studying.

But now? No matter how hard she worked, she simply couldn't catch up.

Before, Ted had just been reading faster than everyone else.

But now, he was comprehending, inventing, and mastering magic at a rate that even left Hermione struggling to keep up.
