The man turned his pain filled eyes towards Laila. His voice was cold.
"You're all from Rhett's squad." He gazed at Grunde and then Renlo. He didn't hide the disdain in his eyes.
Laila's eyes went cold. She could see where this was heading.
"You couldn't even do one thing right. Why did you let them escap— Urk!"
A pained expression crossed the man's face and he shot a glare at Grunde, who had just tightened the cloth stopping his torn hand from bleeding.
"Don't blame your incompetence on us, guardian. It's never the blood knight's duty to deal with the living," Laila said, voice blunt. "We take care of darkness creatures, not help to make more."
The man spat on the ground, expression placid. "Watch how you talk to an Adrenari, girl," he said.
"The only reason your captain hasn't ended up with a Clausebane is because of his blood. The same can't be said for you."
