"NO!.." Lana said and started to shake her head in disbelief... her life would be over if she stayed here... she would have to see and deal with him every single day... her life was already hard, and his presence was the last thing she needed to make it worse than it already was... Damon stood up, ready to leave the dining room, not caring a bit that she was in denial... John on the other hand was worried about her... he wanted to assure her that she would be fine in the house and he would do his best to make her enjoy her stay there, but he knew that would only upset Damon so he said nothing and could only just stand there and watch as her eyes blurred with tears... "No, have no choice, and I don't too..." Damon said in an emotionless voice and was about to walk away when Lans stood up abruptly and slammed her hand on the table causing everyone in there to freeze... she let out a shaky breath as she turned to look at the man who was hellbent on making her lie miserable... if stares could kill Damon would be dead already... he was a bit taken aback by her action, but a second later he was back to his normal self... he glared back at her hoping she would cower in fear, but Lana did the opposite of that... she was completely pissed off and the look on her face was enough telling of that... she moved the chair back with her leg and let out another shaky breath as she started to walk to where Damon was standing... Damon stood there frozen on the spot wondering what she was about to do or say... the look of anger in her eyes made him swallow and almost take a step back, but he didn't let it show on his face... instead, he placed his hand in his pocket when she finally stood in front of him...
"No, I won't..." Her firm voice filled the large room... Lana was trying her best not to let her fear show on her face... but her hands were a different tale... her hand was trembling as she placed it beside her... if she showed him that she was still scared then he would continue to walk over her... she had decided in the few seconds after he had told her she was going to stay here... "I won't stay here..." She added, looking straight in the eye... Damon was completely silent, but the look of displeasure was evident on his face as he stared at her... "You can stay here willingly or forcefully... I'm sure you don't want to make things harder for yourself..." He replied, and Lans scoffed and shook her head... "Harder!" She ran her hand through her hair and tugged on it a little... "You brought me here against my will... then you tried to kill me and now you are forcing me to stay here!" Her raised voice resonated through the entire room, causing John to almost step in, but Damon raised his hand, stopping him before he could... "I don't care who you are and I don't want to f*cking know... all I want to do is leave here... I've told you already I have no idea what my father did before he died! Why should I pay for his crimes when it has nothing to do with me! I'm the victim here!" Lana was trying her best to keep her anger at bay, but the entire situation was beyond frustrating... her head felt like it was going to explode soon...
"Who else would pay for his crimes if not you?" Damon replied, and Lana felt like pulling all her hair out... didn't he understand everything she had just said to him, or did he not care about what she was saying... "I don't know, but it's definitely not me because I wasn't present when he did any of it..." She stopped talking to catch her breath as all the memories of everything she had to go through invaded her mind...
She had spent so long paying for her father's sins that she forgot the fact that she shouldn't be in the first place... it had been so suffocating living like that... feeling like the entire world was about to crush her at any moment... it was beyond straining... anytime she thought she was finally free from everything and could live her life the way she wanted the world came weighing her down again with another problem... any little bit of happiness she had scared her to the core because she knew it wouldn't last... she knew something would happen that would leave her defeated. But this time around, she felt beyond defeated.... this time she couldn't run even though she wanted to... she was trapped here... with this man who didn't seem to care one bit about what he was doing to her... she hated him... she hated everything... why did the world have to be so cruel to just her...
Lana blinked back the tears that were about to fall from her eyes and turned away so he wouldn't notice it... she didn't want him to see the fear and frustration in her eyes... "can't you just let me go..." She said in a low voice... the defeat, which she didn't want to accept, had a hint in her tone...
Damon fisted his hand as he stared at her... the pang of guilt which he had been trying to push back enveloped his heart once again, but once he remembered everything that made him the way he was, he shook off the guilt and ignored it... "No..." He said in a low voice that was filled with finality... if he let her go then everything would be over... he would no longer have any resentment to hold on to...
Damon took a step closer to Lana, who wouldn't turn to look at him... she knew if she did, she wouldn't be able to hold back her tears...
He stared at her in silence for a few seconds... before he walked away, leaving her completely dejected...
