The basket of flowers swayed in Violet's hand as she walked towards the house. She wished to catch fish from the river, but Lydia forbade her from doing so, afraid of her slipping and getting hurt.
Violet's steps paused when she saw Lydia walking out of the house. There was a tense expression on her face.
Violet wondered what made her upset.
"Are you going out, Lydia?" she asked.
"Yeah, I was called by my mentor. There is work in the laboratory," Lydia responded hurriedly.
Violet wanted to inquire whether everything was alright, but before she noticed, Lydia was out of her sight.
When she entered the house next, she saw Lucas sitting on the couch, leaning against the back seat. On his lap was a petite woman seated, feeding him cherries. There was obvious intimacy between their actions.
No wonder Lydia was upset.
Violet frowned and stomped over to them. She slammed down the basket of flowers on the table to catch their attention.
Lucas looked over.
