Blazren sat alone in the AA-Rank lounge, a data slate glowing in his hands.
Most of the other top-ranked heroes were out on patrols or missions.
But he stayed behind, reading page after page on the Beastkin Brood.
Class experiments. Failed subjects. Confirmed sightings.
The patterns were scattered, but something didn't feel right.
It was too quiet. No recent attacks. No movements. Just silence.
But then, the comm on his wrist buzzed.

Blazren tapped it. "Yeah?"
"Come to my lab," Neuro's voice came through. Flat, fast, and precise.
"Now. It's urgent."
Blazren frowned. "What's going on?"
"I'll show you when you get here. Bring no one."
The signal cut.
Blazren stood up and slipped the data slate into his coat.
His brow furrowed deeper as he headed out of the lounge.
When he reached the lab's outer door, Skybrand was already there.
She stood straight, her arms behind her back.
"Where's Neuro?" Blazren asked.
