Chapter 93 - Just like the last time

The ride home was suffocating in its silence.

Christian didn't say a word. And neither did I.

But I could feel his eyes on me. His gaze was intense. Like he was searching for something in me that he couldn't name.

I stared out the window, trying to keep myself together, but my mind was chaos.

Henry.

His name echoed inside me with every breath.

When the gates opened and the car slowed into the driveway, I saw him.

Henry stood near the entrance, arms crossed, body tense. His shoulders were slumped, his face pale and drawn.

The bags under his eyes told me he hadn't slept. His clothes were wrinkled, like he hadn't changed.

His jaw clenched when he saw the car, but he didn't move. He just stood there. Waiting.

"Stop." I said.

Joshua slowed, unsure.

"I said stop."

The vehicle rolled to a halt.

I heard Christian curse under his breath.

"Don't go out. I'll talk to him."

I was already unbuckling my seatbelt. "No." I said quietly. "Let me. I need to."
