At dawn, the sun slowly rose from the horizon, casting its warm light over the earth. As the sky brightened, Morin had already risen from his sleeping bag. He ruffled Kohina's head, who had heard the noise and sat up in her own sleeping bag beside him. After giving her a soft instruction, he tidied his clothes and headed outside to find an open area.
Without hesitation, Morin took advantage of the dimly lit sky and began practicing his quiet Body Arts training system.
"Hoo... Hah..."
At first, Morin simply moved his body slightly, performing seemingly inconspicuous warm-up exercises. The two lolis responsible for ground surveillance and Kohina, who had just woken up and came to watch, didn't understand the meaning behind Morin's relaxed movements. However, Morin, having exchanged for knowledge in Body Arts, was doing these warm-up exercises with great care, stretching and activating his body. This was a crucial part of training; whether in Body Arts or other martial arts like boxing, Muay Thai, and karate, warming up properly was essential to prevent injury when moving into more intense exercises.
Only after Morin had fully stretched did he begin practicing his punches and kicks. The sound of his movements—whistling through the air—caught the attention of the watching lolis. Kohina's face showed surprise.
"With this speed and strength, brother is very strong..."
As Morin's training progressed, Kohina's expression grew more serious. At first, she was only slightly surprised by his strength and speed. But as she saw the whistling sound of his light punches and the agility with which he moved, Kohina began to realize that she might not stand a chance against him in a real fight.
"Ahem, Lord Morin is indeed very strong!"
Suddenly, Matsuzaki's voice came from behind Kohina, making her jolt.
"Elder?!"
Kohina looked back to see Matsuzaki and several other lolis, including the loli Riko, who had been rescued the previous day. Kohina quickly stopped drawing her small katana, which had been halfway out of its sheath, and returned it, bowing slightly to Matsuzaki in greeting.
Kohina held a deep respect for Matsuzaki, the elder who had shown kindness to the Cursed Children. She wasn't like the original Kohina, who would rashly ask if she could kill someone. Instead, she was more of a cool, aloof character with a deep respect for those who helped them.
"Don't be so polite, Kohina!"
Matsuzaki smiled warmly at her, waving her gesture aside. Then he turned to look at Morin, who was still continuing his training. His tone was filled with joy and relief.
"Lord Morin is indeed very strong... In that case, Kohina, as his Initiator partner, you should be even safer!"
"Mmm~!"
Kohina nodded in agreement, but didn't speak further.
Later, the ruins became lively. Using the makeshift kitchen built the previous day, Morin, after finishing an hour of training, tasted the rice porridge he had just prepared. He was satisfied with the fragrant porridge and called the lolis, who had unknowingly gathered outside, to join him for breakfast.
"Although it's a bit simple, the taste is still good!"
Morin held a wooden bowl filled with rice porridge, taking a sip and pairing it with some pickles. His contentment was evident.
"Lord Morin, it's already very good..."
Matsuzaki walked up to Morin, also holding a bowl of rice porridge. He looked at Morin with a somewhat puzzled expression, then glanced at the lolis happily enjoying their meal. With a slight sigh, Matsuzaki spoke quietly, "For ordinary people, this kind of breakfast would be quite good, but for the Cursed Children in Sector 39, having enough to eat twice a day is already a luxury."
Matsuzaki's words were tactful. While some ordinary people in the Tokyo Area could afford a decent breakfast, the Cursed Children in Sector 39 often struggled to get by.
"Haha, I believe the children will get better and better..."
Morin realized he had made a bit of a misstep in his words, so he chuckled and lowered his head, savoring his rice porridge.
Matsuzaki didn't criticize him but instead looked at the bowl of porridge in his hand, sighing quietly. He then turned his gaze back to the little lolis, a smile returning to his face.
After breakfast, Morin motioned for Kohina and Matsuzaki to follow him to the other side and said, "Elder Matsuzaki, I plan to go to the residential area today. Kohina, you stay here with the elder. Be cautious if any radicals come around when you're with Riko and the others!"
"Eh?!"
"Mr. Morin, is something going to happen?"
Kohina was surprised, and Matsuzaki looked at Morin with a hint of nervousness. As someone who had been hiding with the lolis in Sector 39 and occasionally visiting the residential area, Matsuzaki didn't think it was a friendly place for the Cursed Children. Morin's statement seemed to suggest that something more serious was at play.
"Hmm, about this... Kohina, you and Riko can explain to Elder Matsuzaki what we've done before! I think the situation in the Tokyo Area might worsen soon..."
Morin looked at Matsuzaki, then decided it would be best for Kohina to prepare him mentally for what lay ahead. To Kohina, he added, "I have important business in the residential area today. Stay here and be a good girl, understand?"
"Understood..."
Kohina hesitated for a moment, then, realizing that Morin had no intention of changing his decision, reluctantly agreed. She smiled, as Morin promised to bring her a gift when he returned.
Matsuzaki, watching the exchange, was even more curious about what Morin and Kohina had been up to. The loli Riko had said nothing about yesterday's events, but the other lolis had quieted her, and she remained closely attached to Kohina like a little tail.
Morin, unaware of Matsuzaki's growing curiosity, gave Kohina instructions on how to explain things gently to the elder. With a final glance, he drove towards the bustling heart of the Tokyo Area.
