On the other end of the line, the man Penelope had called spoke firmly.
"No problem," he said in a confident tone. "I'll provide it in less than a day."
At that moment Penelope's grip tightened around her phone.
"I want a deep search," she said again, her voice hard. "Anything you know concerning this person. Anything at all. I don't care how small. I want it."
The man chuckled lightly, a dark sound.
"No problem," he repeated. "Leave it to me."
Penelope nodded, though the man couldn't see her.
"The money will be transferred into your account," she said shortly.
There was a soft click as the call ended.
Penelope lowered her phone onto the table, her mind already spinning with possibilities.
For a moment, no one spoke, the tension hung thick between them.
Then, Ramos leaned forward slightly, clearing his throat.
"Since that's out of the way now," he said carefully, "maybe it's time we consider something else."
Penelope lifted her gaze to him, her eyes sharp.
