Ronan's POV
The temple floor split open with a thunderous crack. Stone shards flew everywhere as I pulled Sienna against me, covering her body with mine.
The Midnight Queen rose from the gap like a shadow taking form. Her face was hidden behind a veil of darkness, but I felt her powerancient and terriblewashing over us like a cold wave.
"So predictable," the Queen's voice echoed through the hall. "All my pieces, gathered exactly where I need them."
Sienna shook against me, but not from fear. Her skin glowed like hot embers, strength radiating from within. The Ruby Wolf waking.
My head burst with pain. Fragments of memorieslocked away by the Syndicatebegan breaking through.
Sienna, younger, laughing as we ran through a field.
Her fingers linked with mine beneath a harvest moon.
Blood dripping from our hands as we spoke the ancient words of bonding.
I stumbled, nearly falling.
"He remembers," the Queen said, sounding amused. "How inconvenient."
