Present day –
Usagi's POV:
"Now can you stop making me feel vulnerable," he mutters, red to the ears but still trying to act all dominant.
I smirk, hand slipping up to grab the back of his neck like he always does when he kisses me. "Why tho?" I ask, playing innocent as I pull him a little closer. "Didn't you start this?"
He gulps—oh, that traitorous Adam's apple again—and narrows his eyes.
"Tch. You'll regret teasing me," he growls, voice lower than usual, warning thick in his tone.
Oh… right. He does have that side. Once he loses control, he really loses it. Maybe I should stop—
"I'm a good girlfriend," I say quickly, hands rising in surrender. "I'll let you go this time—"
Before I can even finish, he moves like lightning, flipping our positions in one swift motion. I gasp as my back hits the couch and he hovers over me, his hands caging me in.
"Told you not to mess with me," he breathes, gaze dark and intense. "Now it's too late."
My breath hitches.
Well… oops.
He doesn't give me a chance to speak.
His lips crash onto mine—hungry, desperate, like he's been holding back for far too long. I let out a tiny gasp, my fingers gripping his shoulders instinctively as he deepens the kiss, tilting his head to taste more of me.
"Mmm… O-Okami… w-wait…" I mumble into the kiss, pretending to push him back just a little. "N-not fair… I was supposed to be teasing you…"
But my protests are soft. Barely even there. Because the truth is—I don't want him to stop.
His hand slides around my waist, pulling me flush against him as he kisses me harder, slower now, like he's savoring every second. My toes curl, my heart thuds wildly, and I can't help but melt into him.
"Hah… dummy," I whisper when he finally pulls back just a bit, breath mingling with mine. "You were supposed to lose."
He smirks, his forehead resting against mine. "Then next time… don't tempt me."
"You're becoming more and more of a bad girl, Bunny," he murmurs, eyes glinting with playful heat.
I flick his forehead. "I'm not! I'm just… human, okay? I like it when you do those things—but within limits. Just… make me feel loved, not eaten alive."
He grins, low and dangerous. "But I like crossing limits."
"Tch—nope!" I wag a finger at him. "Told you, wait till your birthday like a good boy!"
"Too bad," he says, leaning in with that maddening smirk. "I'm not a good boy."
I groan, half-laughing. "You weren't like this when everything was all new and sweet!"
He raises a brow. "You told me to be like this. Don't act like you forgot."
"Ughhh—don't twist my words!" I cover my face with both hands. "It's been more than a year and a half! Can you just… pretend I never said that?!"
He laughs, pulling my hands down gently. "Not a chance."
"Okami—my eyes are up here," I snap, trying to keep my voice steady.
"Yeah, I know," he says lazily… but his eyes are still glued to my lips.
"You just kissed me like some hungry wolf," I mutter, face burning. "Now back off—get off me, can you?"
He doesn't move. Just keeps staring.
"Okami," I warn, covering my chest with both hands, "stop it."
He chuckles, slow and shameless. "Sorry, can't help it."
His gaze finally lifts—meets my eyes for a second… then drifts right back down.
"Get. Off. Idiot!" I swat at him, cheeks flaming.
He grins like the menace he is but finally rolls off with a low chuckle. "Such a feisty bunny."
"Okami-kun…" I say, voice all sweet and serious, "I know you've said this before—that you love me, not for my body and all that…"
He narrows his eyes, already sensing my tone. "Usagi—"
"But what will you do…" I lean in a little, lips twitching, "if I was… warm?"
He groans. "Tch, idiot, stop messing! Don't throw those winsta cringe trends at me—"
I gasp dramatically, clutching my chest like I've been betrayed in a soap opera. "So it's true… You don't love me after all. It's just my body…"
He throws a pillow at me, deadpan. "Shut up. You're lucky you're cute."
I hug the pillow like it's a gift from a forbidden lover. "Even if it's just my body…"
"You're gonna be just a body if you keep this up."
"Oh-ho, threats now? That's love, officer, arrest him!"
Sigh "It's so nice… just the two of us, a day off, no chaos. We still have half the day left. What should we do? Wanna watch a movie?"
"Hmm… I don't know, you decide," he mumbles lazily. "But it's noon, and we already had lunch… I kinda just wanna nap."
He blinks as I press into him, arms wrapping around his waist like I belong there. "Movie? Nah. I choose this."
"You chose to become a koala, apparently," he mutters, but his hands are already resting on my back, warm and steady.
"Mhm," I mumble against his chest. "Koala Usagi. Your favorite kind."
He sighs, a soft smile tugging at his lips. "You're gonna fall asleep right here, aren't you?"
"Already am," I whisper, eyes fluttering shut. "Warm... smells nice... heartbeat... perfect nap combo."
"You're unbelievable," he says, but he doesn't move. Just tightens his hold and rests his chin on my head.
"But if I sleep now," I mumble, still snuggled against him, "I won't be able to sleep at night…"
He chuckles, brushing a hand through my hair. "Then how about a walk?"
I lift my head slightly. "Where to?"
"Hmm… Café?"
I smile lazily. "That does sound good… a quiet little café in this peaceful, silent noon. Just us."
He grins, "Then let's go before Koala Usagi dozes off again."
"Fine," I say, stretching like a cat. "But you're carrying my bag."
"Deal—only if you buy me cake."
"Hmph, always using me for sweets."
"Only because you're the sweetest one."
Ring....Ring...
"Uhm, my phone," I mutter, slipping out of Okami's arms and walking to the bedroom to take the call.
I glance at the screen and smile. "Hehe, it's Mom," I say softly to myself before picking up. "Hi, Mom~"
"How are you doing, dear?" her warm voice hums through the speaker.
"Hehe, I'm good, Mom. What about you?"
"I miss you, sweetheart. And I just found out you have a day off today… and even Okami does."
"Ehh—who's spilling beans?!"
"Fufufu… my dear son-in-law, of course."
I groan, cheeks heating. "We're not married yet, Mom."
"It's the same thing," she chirps like it's the most obvious truth in the world.
I flop onto the bed dramatically. "So why did you call? Don't tell me you just coincidentally remembered we're off today…"
"Oh, yes~ I had a little favor. Can you give the phone to my dear Okami?"
"Ugh… he's my dear… but fine," I grumble playfully. "Just wait."
"Okami-kun!" I call out from the bedroom, pacing a little with Mom's call still on mute. "Come here! You betrayed knight, less boyfriend, more mom's personal spy!"
He walks in, rubbing the back of his neck with that lazy, sheepish grin. "Yeah, Your Highness? What crime am I being accused of now?"
"Don't you 'my love' me!" I huff. "Guess who's on the phone. Guess who said you told her we have a day off today?"
He chuckles awkwardly, avoiding my eyes. "Ah… well… it might've slipped out during our last call…"
"Oh, it slipped, huh?" I raise a brow and wave the phone. "She wants to talk to you. But I'm putting it on speaker."
He holds up his hands. "Okay, whatever you say, Your Highness. I am but your humble, totally innocent knight."
I unmute the call and place the phone on the dresser.
Mom's voice bursts out cheerfully, "Okami~ my favorite son-in-law!"
He straightens up like a soldier and flashes the most polite tone ever, "Hello, Mom! Always a pleasure."
I narrow my eyes at him, arms crossed. "Favorite, huh?"
"How you doing, dear? You fine? Is my Usagi treating you well?" Mom asks, her voice all warm and doting through the speaker.
Okami chuckles softly, glancing at me with that teasing glint in his eyes. "Yeah, she's a bit of a handful... but yeah, she does treat me well."
"Oi!" I gasp, glaring at him. "What do you two mean by that?! Mom, I'm the one who should be asking this! And you—Okami—what do you hustle with me, huh?!"
He shrugs, all smug. "Like… you know, Mom. She just asked me if I'd still love her if she was warm."
I freeze. "You—! You traitor!"
Mom bursts into laughter, like she's just heard the joke of the century. "Oh my! My poor baby girl is still an airhead after all these years!"
I bury my face in a pillow. "I'm hanging up. I'm hanging up right now!"
"Oh no, wait wait—I wanna talk to my dear Okami," Mom says quickly before I can hang up.
I roll my eyes dramatically. "Ugh, yeah, your dear Okami. Then talk! Hmph!"
Okami chuckles, clearly enjoying this too much. "Yeah, Mom? What is it?"
"Oh, dear… ever since you two moved in together, you've stopped visiting me!"
He rubs the back of his neck, sheepish. "Haha, we just had our hands full all the time, you know?"
"Well, since it's your day off, can you two come for dinner tonight?"
"Oh! Are you sure, Mom?" he asks, eyes lighting up like a puppy.
"Yes, yes, dear—please come! I want to talk to you about so many things!"
"Okay, Mom. We'll be there in an hour."
"Oh my! But—eh? Why isn't Usagi saying anything?"
Okami looks at me, barely hiding his grin. "Uhm… she seems to be sulking and mad. Haha."
I whip around with a death glare. "Excuse me?!I'm just being disrespected in my own kingdom!"
