Professor Oak's Update
As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, Robert finally arrived at the Pokémon Center located just outside a small coastal town. Unlike the large, high-tech centers in the cities, this one was a quaint establishment consisting of several wooden cabins, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings.
The moment he stepped inside, a familiar and friendly voice greeted him.
"Welcome!"
Robert looked toward the counter and saw Nurse Joy smiling at him warmly.
"Good evening, Nurse Joy," he greeted, walking up to her.
"Good evening! How may I help you?" she asked with a gentle smile.
"I'd like to book a room for the night, and I also need my Pokémon healed," he said, placing Charmeleon's Poké Ball and his Pokédex on the counter.
"Of course, I'll take care of that right away. It should take about half an hour," Nurse Joy assured him. "Would you like some dinner while you wait?"
Robert shook his head. "No, thanks. I already had something on the way here. I just need some rest."
"Alright, your room is ready. Here's the key," she said, handing it over to him.
Just as Robert was about to leave the counter, the phone at the reception rang.
"Robert, you have a call," Nurse Joy called out. "Please head over there to answer it."
Robert paused for a moment. Could it be Uncle Fu again? No, I just called him last night... A name immediately came to his mind.
"Alright, thanks, Nurse Joy," he said, walking towards the telephone booth.
A Call from Professor Oak
As soon as Robert picked up the receiver and pressed the button, a familiar elderly face appeared on the screen—Professor Oak.
"Robert! Long time no see! How have you been lately?" the professor greeted him warmly.
"Professor Oak! Good evening," Robert said, smiling. "I've been doing great. I've also caught a few strong Pokémon recently."
"Is that so?" Oak adjusted his glasses with interest. "Let me see them!"
In response, Robert gestured toward his shoulder, where his Pichu sat, curiously staring at the screen.
"Pichu!"
Professor Oak chuckled. "Ah, so you've caught a Pichu! It looks well-trained. I'm guessing this is one of your new partners?"
"Yes, and it's been doing really well in battle," Robert confirmed proudly. "I also caught a Shiny Beedrill. It's probably the strongest Pokémon in my team right now—even Charmeleon and Pidgeot have a tough time against it!"
The professor's eyes widened. "A Shiny Beedrill? That's extremely rare! Its potential must be incredible!"
Robert nodded. "It really is. Beedrill has been performing amazingly in battles."
"Excellent! If you get the chance, I'd love to study it in person someday," Oak said with a chuckle.
"I'd be happy to, Professor!" Robert grinned. "So, was that all you wanted to tell me?"
"Actually, no. I also have an update on your second request," Oak said, his expression becoming serious. "The Pokémon you requested are extremely rare in the Kanto region, so we need to transfer them from another region. It will take about half a month for them to arrive."
Robert nodded, understanding the delay. "That's fine, Professor. I'll be patient."
"Good. Once they arrive, I'll let you know immediately," Oak assured him. "By the way, these Pokémon are not available as juveniles, so you'll have to hatch them from eggs yourself."
"That's alright with me. I don't mind raising them from eggs," Robert said.
"Good. Well, that's all for now. I wish you continued success on your journey. Once you send me the photos, I'll resume my research," Oak said with a smile.
"Photos? Oh right! I completely forgot about that," Robert said, scratching his head. He quickly retrieved his Pokédex and uploaded a high-quality image of Ho-Oh, which he had captured weeks ago, and sent it to the email address provided by Professor Oak.
With everything taken care of, Robert thanked Nurse Joy, collected his Pokémon, and made his way to his dormitory for a well-deserved rest.

The Next Morning
The next morning, Robert woke up early, feeling refreshed. After taking a quick shower and having a hearty breakfast, he checked on his Pokémon. Charmeleon, Pichu, Beedrill, and the others were full of energy, ready for another day of adventure.
With his bag packed and Pokémon well-rested, Robert set out on the road, heading toward Vermilion City.
For over an hour, he walked through a dense forest, the tall trees forming a natural tunnel around him. The sound of rustling leaves and distant Pokémon cries filled the air. As he pressed forward, he soon found himself emerging from the forest onto an open coastline.
The sight before him made him stop in his tracks.
A vast expanse of deep blue stretched ahead—the sea. The salty breeze carried the scent of the ocean as the waves lapped gently against the sandy shore.
A chill ran down Robert's spine. He recognized this place.
"Wait a minute," he muttered. "Isn't this where the giant Dragonite appeared in the original story?"
His heart pounded with excitement. The scene before him perfectly matched the descriptions from the stories—this was the very spot where the legendary Giant Dragonite had once been sighted. He turned his gaze to the left, where a towering structure stood on the edge of a cliff.
"The Lighthouse," he murmured. "Professor Westwood's Lighthouse..."
Professor Westwood, a brilliant researcher in the field of Pokémon evolution, had once observed a colossal Dragonite from this very place. The scene was vivid in Robert's mind—the massive Pokémon emerging from the ocean mist, its eyes glowing in the moonlight.
Recalling the legend of the Giant Dragonite, Robert couldn't help but ponder. Many fans had debated its origins. Some believed it was simply an oversized mutation, while others speculated that it belonged to an undiscovered species.
There was also another theory—one that had circulated for years among Pokémon enthusiasts. Some believed that the giant Dragonite was linked to the mysterious Pokémon that lived on Team Rocket's secret island, the so-called "Pokémon Sanctuary." Supposedly, there were many unusual Pokémon there, including one the same size as the giant Dragonite, and even species with never-before-seen types.
This theory made sense, but the lack of concrete answers turned the giant Dragonite into one of the Pokémon world's greatest mysteries. Robert chuckled to himself. "Maybe one day, I'll get to the bottom of it."
With no plans to investigate further at the moment, Robert decided to continue his journey. As much as he wanted to explore the beach, there was no reason to linger—he was focused on reaching Vermilion City as soon as possible.
The Road to Vermilion City
The path to Vermilion City was bustling with activity. Robert encountered various wild Pokémon along the way, battling and training to strengthen his team. He also met a few trainers eager for a challenge, and he welcomed the chance to test his Pokémon against them.
Charmeleon led most of the battles, proving his strength time and time again. Even against water-type Pokémon, his speed and fierce determination made up for his elemental disadvantage.
As the sun began to set once more, Robert finally saw the buildings of Vermilion City in the distance. He took a deep breath, filling his lungs with the salty sea air.
"I'm finally here," he muttered to himself, a determined smile tugging at his lips. The journey had been tough, but he was ready for whatever came next.
With a renewed sense of excitement, he pressed forward. His next challenge awaited, and Robert was ready to face it head-on.
To be continued…
