As they passed by numerous towns, the mountainous terrain flattened a little, but the snow and chill, however, remained the same. It was the territory of the snow leopards after all.
At the top of the mansion stairs, Soren stood still, his golden collar glinting faintly against the fur lining of his pale coat. His black eyes were sharp, focused, and unblinking.
He had been standing there for twenty minutes.
Waiting.
If Riven did not return as per the agreement, he was prepared to go to the wolf clan himself and drag him back.
The second the carriage wheels crunched up the gravel path, he straightened. He didn't move until the door opened, and Riven, all sparkling green eyes and bouncing black hair, leapt out.
"Soren!"
He practically launched himself at him.
Soren opened his arms without hesitation, and Riven collided against his chest with enough force to make him take a step back. The half-wolf wrapped his arms around his neck and clung to him like a child.
