The next morning…
"Stop here," Anne said quickly as the car neared the office building.
Augustine frowned, reluctant. "Why? We could just walk in together. You are officially my secretary now."
Anne laughed softly. "Exactly why we shouldn't be seen arriving together. People will start whispering." She gave him a knowing look. "Remember, you promised — our marriage stays a secret for now."
Augustine let out a heavy sigh, slumping slightly in his seat. How could he argue? It was his promise.
"Alright," he grumbled, pulling the car to the curb.
"Thank you," Anne said sweetly, flashing him a warm smile as she opened the door.
But just as she was stepping away, Augustine hurried out of the car too. "Wait," he called.
Anne turned back to see him striding toward her. Without a word, he wrapped his arms around her, holding her close.
