After Kisame and Itachi demonstrated their skills, many students eagerly asked to learn from them.
Seeing this, Itachi and Kisame, having nothing urgent at hand, began instructing the students. Killer Bee, noticing the situation, also joined in the teaching.
In the blink of an eye, another day passed.
The following day, Killer Bee and Kisame stood guard outside the laboratory.
Konan had taken the responsibility of leading the students to safeguard the entire security perimeter of Amegakure.
Inside the lab, the atmosphere was heavy and solemn.
Itachi looked at Naruto and asked, "Naruto, have you really thought this through?"
Naruto nodded resolutely. "Of course. Don't you want to see him again?"
Itachi took a deep breath. Of course he had considered it—otherwise, he wouldn't have handed over Shisui's body in the first place.
Orochimaru turned to Naruto and said, "Naruto, go capture a White Zetsu and bring it back. Make sure it's sealed."
Naruto gave a quick nod. "Give me a moment."
With that, he activated the Flying Thunder God Technique, vanishing in a flash. Three minutes later, he returned, holding a sealed White Zetsu in hand.
Orochimaru had already prepared the Outer Path: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique's summoning seal, and instructed Naruto to throw the sealed Zetsu into it.
The Zetsu had to be sealed for a reason—if it saw the people present, it might immediately relay the situation to Obito using its hive-mind connection, which would be disastrous.
By catching it outside, sealing it, and returning quickly, the most Obito would know is that Naruto had done something—he wouldn't know what.
Nagato sat in front of Shisui's body, his Rinnegan glowing faintly. His chakra was fully prepared.
Naruto nodded at Nagato. In response, Nagato began forming hand seals.
"Outer Path — Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique!"
With a resounding chirp, golden light began to emanate from Shisui's body. At the same time, Nagato's vibrant red hair began fading to pale white—an ominous sign of his vitality being rapidly drained.
His body, once muscular, began to wither and weaken.
Even though the resurrection method was supported by scientific understanding and sealing jutsu, it clearly taxed the user's life force severely.
One minute later, the golden light faded, and Nagato dropped his hands, breathing raggedly.
Naruto rushed over and caught Nagato as he collapsed. Gently lifting him, he carried him into the pre-prepared Yin Seal: Rebirth Technique array and shouted with concern, "Uncle Snake!"
Orochimaru immediately formed hand signs and shouted, "Understood. Yin Seal: Rebirth Technique!"
Naruto could tell—this time, Nagato was weaker than when he resurrected the first time. He feared Nagato might die within seconds.
As Orochimaru activated the seal, the previously quiet White Zetsu began twisting and shrieking in agony. Green chakra erupted from the array and poured into Nagato's weakened form.
Orochimaru frowned. "Naruto, inject your chakra. He won't last long like this."
Naruto nodded without hesitation. "I've been preparing for this."
Placing his hand on the seal, Naruto poured a vast amount of his chakra into it.
Within minutes, Nagato began recovering at a rate visible to the naked eye. His skin regained color, his breathing steadied, and his hair returned to a fiery red hue.
Orochimaru wiped the sweat from his brow and gave a satisfied smile at the result of his efforts.
Naruto knelt beside Nagato, gently raising him up. "Brother, you worked hard. Thank you."
Nagato smiled wearily. "This time... it really was hard."
He could feel the change. Compared to the first time, this resurrection had cost him far more.
Worse, his Rinnegan's ocular power had visibly declined.
It would take time—possibly a long one—for his strength to settle and recover. Continuous use of the Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique, even with auxiliary techniques like the Yin Seal, placed unbearable stress on the body.
Still, Nagato didn't mention the decline in his ocular power to Naruto.
Because he had one more person he had to bring back—Yahiko.
If Yahiko didn't return to this world, he wouldn't find peace. Even if it killed him, he wanted Yahiko to live again.
On the lab floor, Shisui's fingers twitched.
Itachi immediately noticed the movement. He dropped to one knee, grabbed Shisui's hand, and called out in a trembling voice, "Shisui! Wake up, Shisui!"
Uchiha Shisui frowned, his sunken eye sockets giving his face a haunting appearance due to the loss of his eyes.
But to Itachi, it wasn't frightening at all.
To him, Shisui was not just a comrade, but an older brother, a mentor, and a beacon that had once guided him down the path of the shinobi.
Shisui's ears twitched at the sound of Itachi's voice. With great effort, he tilted his head and croaked, "Itachi…?"
Tears welled in Itachi's eyes the moment he heard his name.
He tightened his grip on Shisui's hand and nodded repeatedly, though Shisui couldn't see him.
Shisui muttered in confusion, "How is this possible…? I was… I should be…"
He didn't understand. Why could he hear Itachi's voice again? Why did he feel touch? Wasn't he dead?
As Shisui's chakra slowly circulated again, his perception returned. He instantly recognized Itachi's chakra—but also others.
Wait… this presence. Orochimaru?
Just as Shisui tried to sit up, Orochimaru strode over and inserted a syringe into his neck.
"...Hngh…"
Shisui tilted his head to glance at Orochimaru with strained eyes. "This is… you're…"
Orochimaru gave a sinister chuckle. "Three… two… one… Sleep."
Shisui collapsed again under the effect of general anesthesia.
Itachi turned to Orochimaru, alarmed. "Orochimaru, what are you doing!?"
Orochimaru raised a brow and said, amused, "Calm down, Itachi. I simply gave him anesthesia. The purpose is to restore his eyesight."
He motioned toward the surgical table. "Now, pick up your friend and place him there."
Without hesitation, Itachi lifted Shisui like a princess and gently laid him on the operating table.
Orochimaru carefully removed two glass containers containing Shisui's eyes—his original eyes.
He then prepared for transplant.
Itachi stood silently by, watching as the man he once despised helped restore Shisui's vision.
He felt a deep wave of emotion.
That Shisui's eyes could one day return to their rightful owner… was only possible because of one person.
He turned toward Naruto.
At this moment, Itachi fully believed in him.
If Naruto could bring back Shisui… if he could bring him back from death and allow him to see the world again… then Naruto's promise—to bring Sasuke back into the light—wasn't a lie.
Orochimaru, now gloved, began the delicate transplant procedure.
Everyone remained quiet as the operation commenced.
The surgery was a success. The transplanted eyes were the originals, and with Orochimaru's Medical Ninjutsu, the tissues healed quickly. There were no signs of rejection.
Nagato, too exhausted to remain, was escorted by Naruto to rest.
Kisame entered shortly after and stood guard by Shisui's side alongside Itachi.
Killer Bee returned to teaching the students outside.
As for Orochimaru—he was drained. Casting Yin Seal: Rebirth Technique, performing surgery, and coordinating chakra control had pushed even him to his limits.
Once Shisui was stable, he collapsed onto a nearby couch in the lab, falling into a rare, quiet sleep.
Three or four hours later, the anesthesia wore off.
Uchiha Shisui began to stir.
His rebirth was complete.
