Chapter 11 - Broken

Hajime waited for Rica and Reiko to leave so that he could come out of the bedsheet. His eye, that changed its color before in the woods from red to yellow, did not go back to its normal color, but Hajime and the others did not notice it.

He sat down on the bed properly and looked at the daggers Reiko had left behind for him. He just stared at them for a few moments and did not lay even a finger on them. He stood up from the bed and moved out of the room.

In the corridor, he saw a somewhat strange crystal which was growing different colors at the same time, but little did he know that the crystal placed in the corridor was there for security and should be active when it detects suspicious activity in the house.

He moved towards it, and the moment he was at its range of severance, it set off a bright light that would have blinded dangerous people or creatures who would attempt to come into the house. But lucky for him, he got blinded by the blinding light only in one eye, and that eye was, of course, his normal colored eye and not the one that turned yellow.

He fell, caught by surprise, and his heart started racing as if he were about to die. He moved backwards while still on the floor and unable to stand up.

He opened his eyes slowly, but it was like both of his eyes had been completely sealed off by the light. then he started seeing something blurry in front of him, which looked like a door because a little amount of light was coming through it.

He approached it to maybe get out of the corridor and go back to the room he was staying in, but once he reached it, he realized that the door was not a door but a window. Even so, he climbed it to get to the other side of the house. The house had eight windows, and of the eight windows, two of them were areas where a person, no matter the age, could reach from both sides.

"I need to get out of here."

He said that while climbing the window, he did not know that the window he was climbing was one of the tallest windows in his house, and the moment he climbed it, he grabbed a broken piece of wood and fell to the other side, producing a loud falling sound

A man who was passing by heard the noise that was made by Hajime the time he was falling down from the window.

He stopped, curious about what it could be. He turned, looking in the direction Hajime was. Without hesitation, he took a step forward.

He went to check what was going on, but the moment he got there, he found that there was no one there.

"Hmm," He uttered with confusion.

He looked left and right to see if someone needed help, but still there was no person to be seen.

"Strange." Confused, the man said while still looking around.

The time Hajime was falling, he saw the man, and by the time he fell, he ran as fast as he could to prevent being asked a lot of questions by the man. He hid behind the tree behind the house, and he hurt his whole arm due to the impact of falling.

His eyes were full of tears, and he was holding his injured arm with the other arm that wasn't injured. or though he could cry but one of his eyes was still completely out of vision, completely, while the other gained a little bit of vision that allowed him to move from the stop he was at to the front of the house.

He grabbed the door and tried to open it, but the door could not open since it was closed from the inside, and Reiko had carried her keys, and the spare set was inside the house.

He looked at the door knob closely as if he were trying to figure out another way to unlock it. Suddenly, He kicked the door, but it still wouldn't open.

He looked light and left, and placed his hand on the door. With his full might, he tried forcing it to open by pushing it, but the door would not budge. He looked up at the sky, where the clouds were as clear as day. Suddenly, an idea crossed his mind, which was to get back to the window and try to enter the house using it.

He touched his shoulder and started dragging himself to the closest window.

After he reached it, he looked at it, but then he realized something. All the windows were just too out of reach for him, so there was no way he was getting back inside the house with a broken shoulder.

But it couldn't hurt to try climbing the window. so he thought.

"I need to find something to climb with if I need to get inside." He said nervously while still looking at the window.

He turned his head left left, but he was unable to see anything since his eye was still blinded, so he tried to turn completely to see if there was something useful there, but the moment he was about to turn, he heard a sound and a baby dragon appeared from nowhere in full speed and started running him after it saw him standing there for a while.

He ran towards the village's squire to maybe hide among the people who were there, but he didn't realize that the baby dragon had stopped running after him for a while now.

"Fe, I thought I was going to die." He thought, out of breath as he stopped running near a weapons shop where the owner of the shop was throwing out some useless weapons and potions that had expired or broken.

'Hmm...?"

Filled with curiosity, his jaw dropped slightly as he went closer to see what the shop owner was throwing away when he saw that the owner of the shop was throwing out a sword which looked pretty good and had no edges, and it wasn't cracked even a bit.

"...Hey!" Hajime called out.

The man turned, wearing a bothered expression to see who was calling him and why.

"Why are you throwing out that sword?" Hajime asked as the man held the sword.

"Why am I throwing it out?" The man said as he looked at the sword, his expression unchanged.

"Simple. Because it's broken." The man added as he turned to face Hajime.

"Broken...?" Confused, Hajime asked.

In his eyes, the sword was not broken even a little bit, but in the owner's eyes, the sword was damaged and broken beyond repair.

The man stared at Hajime closely and noticed that he was injured and needed some help.

"Hey, kid! Are you okay?!" The man asked.

Hajime looked behind him to see if there was another person, but he saw no one, and he replied to the man, his voice filled with hesitation.

"I'm doing fine. Fe, but thanks for asking." He took a step back and started to move away from the man.

"Uhuh...?"

The man, confused, asked himself, "Just how tough was that kid?"

He didn't know that Hajime was not feeling anything at the moment because the pain was being covered by the adrenaline rush that came from running away from the baby dragon.

Hajime continued to move forward since he was already in town and his original house, where he stayed with his mother, was there.

He walked for minutes like he was still okay, but as he got closer to his house, his arm started to hurt, and he grabbed his shoulder.

"Not again," he said as he continued walking.

He forced himself to continue moving since he was already close to his house.

Later, after he reached his house, he went straight to the bathroom to clean himself up so that maybe his arm could feel better and maybe he could regain the vision in his left eye, but the moment he took a step in the bathroom his vision came back and his arm had completely healed like nothing had happened to it.

"...Wait. I can see again, but how?"

A bright, colorful glow ignited from the bath water, and the bath was completely covered in steam after it had ignited.

"Fe. What just happened?" Amazed, he asked himself as he walked towards the glowing bath water.

Suddenly, he started hearing noises from outside his house and the smell of burning materials.

"What's going on?" He asked himself as he went close to the house's main door. the moment he opened it, he found that people were being slaughtered like pigs, and almost every house was on fire.

"What the?"
