"Yes, my niece, Kiera's meteoric rise," Ray said, letting out a sigh for effect.
"But, is she truly what this company needs at its helm?"
At once, Maurice, a long-time ally of Ray, took this as his cue.
"I've been with this company for three decades, and while I respect the young energy Kiera brings, I'm not sure she has the experience to lead."
Ray nodded appreciatively at Maurice, encouraging the sentiment. "Exactly my point!" he pushed.
"Experience cannot be overlooked. This isn't a tech startup where fresh college grads are calling the shots. This is Campbell Group. We have a legacy."
Some of the older-looking board members nodded in agreement, edging Ray's ego even more.
