Genevieve watched in disbelief and horror as Edric took his final breath.
Genevieve's world shattered into a million pieces as she watched, frozen in horror, as the king's chest rose and fell for the final time. She was there with him while battling with the illness, and now he was, lifelessly, laid on the bed. His eyes, once bright and full of life, immediately grew dull, and his whole body went limp, and his gaze fixed on some distant point beyond the veil of mortality.
The queen's mind reeled in denial, refusing to accept the reality that was happening before her eyes.
"Was her King really fine? To where? To meet his ancestors? Or was he waiting for her?" She thought of a ton of questions as she continued shaking the lifeless king.
"He should at least say one more word to me! He should talk to me! Edric is no longer talking to me!!!" Genevieve screamed in grief.
