Chapter 141: A Battle for Power
Chaos erupted inside Malakar's stronghold as the Syndicate's forces breached the southern perimeter. The ground shook with explosions, alarms wailed, and the metallic scent of charged plasma filled the air.
Malakar grabbed his heavy repeater rifle from his throne-like seat and bellowed to his men, "Anyone who stands down dies where they stand!" His eyes glowed with cybernetic fury as he turned to Raizen. "Looks like you get to prove your worth sooner than expected."
Raizen didn't need an invitation. He and his team had already spread out, weapons drawn. The war had begun, and he intended to leave this fortress in control of it.
First Blood
The first wave of Syndicate enforcers flooded through the corridors, blasters flaring red beams of death. Joran roared as he charged forward, smashing through enemy ranks with his reinforced gauntlets, each punch sending bodies flying.
Selara moved with deadly precision, dual plasma daggers slicing through armor, her agility making her nearly untouchable. Seraphina provided cover from above, picking off targets with sniper shots that cracked through the smoky air.
Raizen, however, was a storm of destruction. He wove through the battlefield, golden eyes alight with Draconic power, dodging fire with unnatural reflexes and returning death with each strike. His energy blade hummed as it cleaved through Syndicate soldiers, their cybernetics sparking in the dim lighting.
Malakar, for his part, was a brutal force, unloading massive plasma rounds from his heavy repeater, punching through walls and bodies alike. His cybernetic arm twisted, revealing a built-in cannon that incinerated a squad of incoming Syndicate troops in a single shot.
But the Syndicate wasn't backing down.
The Turning Point
A shockwave rippled through the compound, sending metal debris flying as a Syndicate mech unit burst through the wall—a towering behemoth of reinforced steel, bristling with autocannons.
Raizen's grin sharpened. Finally, a challenge.
"Cover me!" he shouted, launching himself forward with explosive speed. The mech's heavy turrets locked onto him, but he was already moving, dodging a barrage of fire as he leapt onto its chassis. With a savage growl, he drove his energy blade through its core, the machine convulsing violently before erupting in a fiery explosion.
The battle waged on, but Raizen knew this was his moment to seize control. Malakar might have been the warlord of this fortress before, but by the end of this fight, Raizen would be the one left standing.
