Chapter 95 - Chapter 95: Nick Fury's Helpless Target

"..."

Chino was speechless. Trust was a delicate thing.

"So, you trust me?"

"Yes, because you saved me and gave me money."

Lorna nodded. Her clear green eyes were filled with sincerity and gratitude.

Chino looked at her, feeling slightly helpless. Did he have the face of a good person?

However...

"If you want to follow me, you're too weak. Come back when you can defeat Magneto."

"Tom, find her some teachers who specialize in magnetism or ask Dr. Banner if he's interested."

"Yes, boss."

After giving the instructions, Chino was about to leave.

"Wait..."

Lorna suddenly called out to him.

"So, as long as I defeat Magneto, it's fine?"

"Yes."

Without turning his head, Chino responded and left the room.

As he walked away, Venom's low and teasing voice echoed in his mind.

[Why not just agree? That little one is serious about you.]

I can't fall for everyone who likes me. I'm not a playboy. Besides, it wouldn't be fair to you all.

Chino responded silently, a hint of helplessness flashing across his face.

[I don't mind. If you build a harem, it benefits me too. Watching beautiful women cry is delightful, and everyone tastes different. Slurp~]

Hearing the perverted tone in his head, Chino felt speechless.

Because of his memories, Venom had become interested in both men and women. If Chino weren't male, Venom would probably prefer women.

Thankfully, Venom's gender was fixed as female. Otherwise, the thought of having another man living inside his body would be unbearable.

Chino shuddered at the thought and quickened his pace to shake off those chaotic ideas.

Meanwhile...

At S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters...

Nick Fury reviewed Coulson's mission report with a satisfied expression.

Gaining Thor's friendship could be useful for recruiting him into the Avengers Initiative.

Whether it was Thor's combat power or his knowledge of aliens, both were invaluable to Earth.

Nick Fury nodded slightly, calculating his next steps. His one eye gleamed with wisdom and resolve.

A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts.

"Director, according to our intelligence, Professor X and some X-Men are heading to New York. They are expected to arrive by 4 PM," a serious-looking agent reported.

"Did they file any prior notice?" Fury's expression grew tense.

"Yes, they reported their reason as going to work for the Demon Corporation."

"The Demon Corporation again... Let them through."

At the mention of that name, Nick Fury felt a headache coming on. He massaged his temples, frowning deeply.

For the first time, he had encountered a target he was powerless against.

Legally, the Demon Corporation had powerful backing. Due to their medical treatments and youth-restoring drugs, many high-ranking officials were eager to support them, hoping for the development of life-extension medicine.

Publicly, the company had a stellar reputation. The affordable limb regeneration drug had saved countless families. If Chino wanted, they would replace statues of God with his likeness.

Militarily, Nick Fury had reviewed the combat footage. Even if Captain Marvel could defeat Chino—which was uncertain—Chino wasn't alone. He commanded a vast demon army. If Fury made a move, the entire nation could be destroyed.

Moreover, Chino had already recruited key figures like Banner and Tony Stark, vital to the Avengers Initiative.

Fury felt relieved that he had not intervened with Thor. Otherwise, his entire plan would have fallen apart.

Taking a deep breath, Fury felt an unprecedented pressure weighing on him. He paced back and forth in his office, formulating a strategy.

Although Chino had not done anything to harm the world—in fact, he had contributed greatly—placing the fate of the planet in one person's hands was too risky.

"Such uncertainty is like a ticking time bomb," Fury murmured to himself, clenching his fists tightly.

On a highway bus...

Several members of the X-Men sat chatting.

"Jean, my dear sister, share some of your youth serum with me," a dark-skinned beauty with white hair leaned against Jean.

"Ororo, didn't you also buy some youth serum?" Jean asked.

Ororo rolled her eyes. "Mine doesn't work as fast as yours. Yours is instant; mine takes several nights and still isn't as effective. That Demon King must've diluted it a hundred times over. And it cost me 500 bucks for one jar! Total rip-off!"

Jean frowned slightly, her expression serious. "Ororo, show some respect for the King. He carries the hope of all mutants."

"I was wrong, Jean," Ororo immediately raised her hands in surrender, flashing a smile to appease her.

Truthfully, she admired the Demon King but was frustrated by the difference in product quality.

Jean pulled out a jar of the premium youth serum Chino had gifted her.

"Mix a bit of this with yours; it should work better."

"Thanks, bestie!" Ororo's face lit up with joy as she eagerly opened her jar to scoop from Jean's.

"Stop! I said a bit!"

"Yeah, just a tiny bit."

"That's half the jar!"

"Aren't we besties?"

"Not anymore!"

"So mean... To make it up, let me take a little more."

"Ororo, I'm going to be mad!"

...

Scott Summers shook his head helplessly at their bickering. He had talked things over with Professor X and let go of his past concerns.

Beside him sat a blue-skinned, sharp-toothed mutant—Nightcrawler, Kurt Wagner.

His hands were tightly clasped, his body trembled slightly, and his face was full of tension and anticipation.

"I wonder if the Demon King will accept me. Will there be others like me?" Kurt murmured softly, his eyes filled with anxiety and hope.

Scott reassured him, "Don't be intimidated by his title. Deep down, he's a good person."

"I know. He's saved so many families. God will bless him," Kurt nodded sincerely.

Scott sighed, "Just don't mention God in front of him. Who knows if the Demon King has a grudge against Him."

"Sorry, I didn't mean to offend..." Kurt lowered his head apologetically.

Beast, Hank McCoy, finished filing a report and adjusted his glasses. "Charles, are you sure this excuse will work?"

"Don't worry, Hank. We're just a group of mutants seeking jobs," Charles Xavier smiled calmly.

Sure enough, moments later, the computer pinged with an approval notice.

"The Demon King's influence is that strong? I'm starting to believe your words, Charles," Hank said, astonished as his blue fur trembled slightly.
