Chapter 47 - Uchiha Yang’s Ambition

Uchiha Yang returned to the Uchiha Clan compound, lay down to rest but found himself unable to sleep. Sighing, he dressed, leaped onto the rooftop, and startled the guards on patrol. Recognizing him, they merely nodded and continued their watch as he moved to another part of the compound, gazing up at the star-filled sky, lost in thought.

Earlier that day, several Uchiha had displayed overwhelming strength, not only reinforcing the clan's prestige but also shocking the narrow-minded politicians of Konoha—frogs at the bottom of a well, blind to the true vastness of the ninja world. Their actions had inadvertently solved some of Konoha's surface-level problems, giving Yang an opportunity. If he moved carefully, the village's higher-ups wouldn't interfere too much.

His plan unfolded in five key steps:

1. Economic Expansion: Forge alliances with the Nara and Akimichi clans to establish businesses. The Nara's medicinal herbs could be used for brewing high-quality sake, while the Akimichi's food expertise would help launch a restaurant chain modeled after his past life's fast-food industry. Branding would be crucial—first, solidify a unique identity, then expand to exports.

2. Formation of a Chamber of Commerce: Wealth always attracts enemies. By aligning with the Fire Daimyo and recruiting moderate and neutral factions within the Land of Fire, he could establish the Royal Chamber of Commerce. This entity would monopolize the nation's fast-food industry, enforce strict controls over sake production under a "royal seal," and ensure that a portion of profits flowed into Konoha, keeping the Hokage's office satisfied.

3. Strengthening Political Influence: By deepening ties with the Fire Daimyo and furthering the divide between Konoha's leadership and its feudal lord, Yang could recommend Hatake Sakumo—Konoha's White Fang—as the Daimyo's trusted enforcer. This would weaken Danzo Shimura's financial base, increasing tensions between Konoha's factions while simultaneously elevating Uchiha influence.

4. Strategic Land Acquisition: Using wealth, the Uchiha could absorb smaller clans, purchase land, and expand operations across the Land of Fire. Factories, orphanages, and hospitals would not only improve public perception but also ensure the clan's continued presence in the nation, even in the worst-case scenario of a conflict with Konoha.

5. Reforming the Guardian Twelve Ninja: The current Twelve Guardian Ninja were too weak. Yang envisioned an elite force composed of Uchiha, Hyuga, Uzumaki, Inuzuka, and Sarutobi warriors, along with the monks of the Fire Temple. This new formation would protect the Daimyo while cementing Uchiha dominance.

Exhaling slowly, Yang resolved to implement these steps one by one. If successful, the Land of Fire would become an Uchiha stronghold. Even if the worst happened and the clan was targeted, a portion of their people would be safeguarded outside Konoha's direct control.

The Daimyo's Invitation

The next morning, as the clan gathered for breakfast, a messenger from the Fire Daimyo arrived at the Uchiha compound, requesting an audience with the Second Elder. After a brief discussion, the elder summoned Uchiha Yang and Uchiha Kuzan to the main hall.

The Daimyo's attendant stepped forward, presenting two ornate boxes. Inside were Guardian Ninja waist sashes, symbols of the elite force that protected the feudal lord. The attendant spoke:

"His Excellency the Daimyo was impressed by the skill displayed by two young Uchiha yesterday. He wishes to extend an invitation for both of you to join the Twelve Guardian Ninja and safeguard his person."

Yang gazed at the waist sash. Last night, there were no falling stars, yet I am handed a pillow for my head, he thought. Without hesitation, he took the box, fastened the sash around his waist, and bowed respectfully.

"I am honored by the Daimyo's recognition. I will devote myself to his protection and uphold his interests."

Kuzan, seeing his younger clansman accept the offer, followed suit, tying the sash around his waist and giving a simple but respectful reply.

The attendant was visibly relieved. He had expected resistance from the Uchiha, given their strained relations with Konoha. However, their willingness to cooperate suggested a different political attitude compared to other Leaf shinobi.

Yang, ever shrewd, pressed further.

"As Guardian Ninja, are we to assume our strength alone will be enough? Yesterday, we demonstrated our abilities alongside three other Uchiha, all of whom proved their worth. If the Daimyo wishes for true protection, perhaps he should consider them as well."

The attendant paled at the suggestion. Uchiha were known for their ruthless ambition. If they were denied, would they simply take what they wanted?

Sensing the man's unease, Yang reassured him:

"You need not decide now. Allow us to accompany you to the Daimyo's court. We will present our case directly—spare yourself the burden of negotiation."

The attendant sighed in relief.

"Very well. Follow me. But whether the Daimyo grants you an audience is beyond my control."

Meeting the Daimyo

As they approached the Daimyo's mansion, Yang discreetly slipped a pouch of gold and silver into the attendant's hand.

"A gesture of gratitude for guiding us through the court's customs. It is always wise to understand the rules before engaging in conversation."

The universal truth of all worlds held true—money made things move. The attendant's demeanor shifted, and he eagerly provided information about the Daimyo's court. Soon, the group was seated in a side hall, awaiting summons.

When the Daimyo finally appeared, he was dressed simply, resembling an unassuming noble rather than a ruler. His expression was warm, his manner easygoing.

"No need for formality," he said. "You two have already become my Guardians. What brings you before me today?"

Yang stepped forward.

"Your Excellency is sharp as ever. While my clan brother and I are honored to serve, we cannot ignore a simple truth: the Twelve Guardian Ninja are too weak."

The Daimyo raised an eyebrow.

"You believe so?"

"Yes. In this world of shinobi, there exist many warriors stronger than us. If we are to truly serve Your Excellency, we must ensure your protection is not symbolic, but absolute. I propose a restructuring of the Guardian Ninja, selecting only those who can truly fulfill this duty."

The Daimyo studied Yang intently.

"You do not merely seek reform. What is your true objective?"

Yang did not hesitate.

"To ease Your Excellency's burdens. One such burden is a certain Valley—a faction that continues to operate in defiance of stability. We, Uchiha, have already eliminated one such entity. There is no reason for the other to remain."

A glimmer of understanding passed through the Daimyo's eyes. He considered the proposal before speaking.

"I will write to the Hokage. What you do beyond that is not my concern—only the results matter."

Yang bowed.

"Rest assured, Your Excellency. Whatever happens next will be the actions of loyal Guardians, acting solely in the interest of the Daimyo."

As they left the Daimyo's presence, Yang's mind raced. The pieces were moving. Soon, Konoha would be forced to acknowledge that the Uchiha were no longer merely a powerful clan within the village.

They were becoming something much more.
