Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: Your Life, Like a Candle in the Wind

Tekkai: Thousand Rending Blades!

Under the terrified and frantic gazes of the surrounding Marine soldiers, Will's hands transformed into twin blades, slashing wildly at everything around him.

His arms moved at such blinding speed that they left trails of light and shadow in the air, resembling the glinting arcs of a true weapon's strike.

Amid the relentless sound of air being cleaved apart, the gun-wielding Marines faced an onslaught so ferocious they had no time to block or dodge.

Anyone or anything that came into contact with Will's arms—be it flesh or firearm—was sliced apart in an instant!

Screams! Blood! Severed limbs! Shattered rifles! Rolling heads!

These gruesome scenes played out chaotically amidst the crowd, as if providing an impromptu accompaniment to Will's martial dance.

And Will himself made no effort to avoid the torrents of blood raining down from above, his entire body now drenched in crimson.

As the soldiers' blood met his searing-hot skin, it instantly began to evaporate, cloaking him in a shroud of scarlet steam that made him look utterly horrifying.

Coupled with his towering, nearly three-meter-tall warrior's frame, he resembled a demon straight out of hell.

"Haha! That's the stuff!"

Weaving through the Marines, Will killed as effortlessly as chopping melons or slicing vegetables, a grin splitting his face as a flicker of exhilaration flashed in his eyes.

"He… he's a devil!!"

One of the Marines in the rear, witnessing this carnage, trembled uncontrollably. His gun slipped from his hands and clattered to the ground as he muttered to himself in a daze.

But at that very moment—

Hidden by the flying limbs and splattering blood, a figure suddenly darted out from a blind spot in Will's vision, charging at him with lightning speed!

Tekkai Smash!

A blur streaked through the air, and Robert—who had been nowhere in sight until now—abruptly appeared beside Will, swinging a heavy fist with full force!

This was the perfect moment he'd been waiting for!

"So you've finally decided to show yourself, you sneaky rat scurrying in the shadows!"

Even with his back turned, Will was fully aware of the situation behind him. A cold glint flashed in his eyes.

Kami-e: Reverse Kill!

In an instant, his body twisted with uncanny agility, contorting into an extreme posture to dodge Robert's strike with precision.

The next second—

Using the massive inertia from his spin, Will pivoted, clenching his fist and swinging it upward with ferocious force!

Boom!

Before Robert's missed punch could even hit the ground, Will's fist slammed into his jaw with devastating impact!

Crack!

With a sickening crunch, Robert was launched into the air, tumbling backward at high speed.

Despite his quick reaction to activate Tekkai: Bronze for defense, his teeth shattered, and his head buzzed with relentless vibrations. For a moment, he blacked out mid-flight.

When he crashed to the ground, Robert regained a sliver of clarity and staggered to his feet.

Staring at the man before him—slaughtering left and right, a foe even he likely couldn't defeat—Robert roared in disbelief, "This is impossible! How could a monster like you exist in the East Blue?!"

"How are you this strong?!"

His voice trembled with dazed speculation. "Did you eat the Human-Human Fruit? Or some other Devil Fruit tied to physical power?!"

"How else could you have such overwhelming strength?!"

This was the East Blue, after all—the sea widely regarded as the weakest of them all.

Yet here he was, unlucky enough to cross paths with a powerhouse who could rival a Marine Headquarters Vice Admiral.

In the CP organization, someone of this caliber might even be tapped for CP0.

Hearing this, Will's brow furrowed slightly, and he replied with a serious tone, "Human-Human Fruit? What nonsense are you spouting?!"

"The strength I have today comes purely from my own talent and effort!"

With that, he noted how his opponent was already showing signs of exhaustion after taking just one moderately forceful hit. Losing interest in dragging this out any longer, he decided to end it.

Soru!

Without another word, Will vanished from his spot in an instant.

In the blink of an eye, he reappeared right in front of Robert.

Tekkai: Demon Spear!

Will tensed every muscle in his right arm, hardening it like steel.

Then, aligning his fingers like a blade, he gathered his strength and thrust them fiercely toward Robert's chest!

Shrrrk—!!

Under Robert's horrified stare, Will's arm pierced through his burly frame like a spear, emerging on the other side!

And in Will's hand, he gripped a still-beating heart!

"You…!"

Robert opened his mouth to speak, but a flood of blood choked his words. He couldn't fathom why, even after using Tekkai: Steel again, he'd failed to block the attack. His meticulously trained body, in the face of this terrifying man, was as fragile as tofu.

Feeling the faint pulsing in his grasp, Will cast an icy glance at the man beside him and said in a frigid tone, "Your life is like a candle flickering in the wind."

With that, he yanked his arm free from Robert's chest and crushed the heart in his hand with a single squeeze!

Splat—!

As Robert watched the heart—both foreign and familiar—explode before his eyes, the light in his gaze dimmed. His blood-soaked body collapsed stiffly to the ground, the gaping hole in his chest still gushing crimson.

"Indeed, even someone who knows the Six Powers lacks the purity to withstand me when I unleash more of my strength," Will mused to himself as he stood over the fallen man, his broad chest now split wide open.

He'd considered testing out his "shirt-bursting" skill, but it turned out to be wholly unnecessary.

"Die!"

Just then, a crazed Marine soldier lunged from the side, seemingly intent on a sneak attack.

Hearing the commotion, Will spun around, seized the Marine by the throat, and hoisted him high into the air. In a low, menacing voice, he growled, "Do you want to dance too?"

The soldier couldn't respond, his face turning beet red as Will's grip tightened, his eyes rolling back.

Finding no amusement in this, Will casually flung the Marine off the bridge, sending him vanishing into the snowy gusts beyond.

Seeing that, aside from this lone soldier, the remaining Marines had completely lost their will to fight, Will's appetite for slaughter waned.

After all, crushing a bunch of ants that wouldn't even resist brought him no satisfaction.

His cold gaze then shifted to the Celestial Dragon who had been lingering behind the crowd all along.

Yet Saint Charlos, far from panicking, stood up and clapped with excitement, exclaiming, "Not bad, not bad! What a splendid fight!"

"Especially that final moment when you finished off that trash—it left me thoroughly pleased!"

Tilting his head slightly upward, he continued in an arrogant, patronizing tone, "I've decided to grant you, a insolent wretch, a rare opportunity: become my slave!"

"As for the trash you killed, you needn't worry in the slightest."

"With a word from me, the Marine Headquarters wouldn't dare utter a peep!"
