-Elara Voss:
I knew Ronan was still thinking about everything I said. I could feel it in the way he held me—strong, steady, but distant. Like his mind was far away, trying to piece together something that didn't quite make sense.
And honestly? I didn't blame him.
I wasn't even sure I fully understood it.
But I knew what I wanted. And that was enough.
When he finally pulled away, his expression was unreadable. He wasn't mad, at least. Just… lost in thought. He gave me a small nod, like he was confirming something to himself, before muttering, "I need to go check the surroundings."
And just like that, he was gone.
I stayed in the kitchen for a moment longer, staring at where he had been, my heart still beating fast.
Was this the right thing to do? Was it selfish of me to want them both? Maybe. But I wasn't going to lie to myself—or them. And that had to count for something.
I sighed, rubbing my temples before turning to the table. Breakfast was getting cold.
