"Liam, I'm going home today. I've already missed a day of work," I said in a serious tone.
"Christian, you have a rib fracture in two places. Why don't you just stay here for a while longer?" he pleaded.
He massaged his temples, looking at me with frustration. I've been asking to leave since the day I woke up, but he insisted I stay.
"I feel fine. Fractures can heal on their own. You already told me it wasn't too serious," I pushed, blocking any possible excuses.
"Fine, but you need to be careful. I'm more worried about your mental state than your physical," he replied. He walked over to his computer and began typing something. "I'll sign off on your discharge papers, but I will be coming over regularly to check on you."
I nodded, agreeing to his request.
"The nurse will be here shortly to bring you your things. Everything you arrived in the hospital with has been kept for you."
"Thanks, Liam," I answered.
