Peter was so tired.
Not in the way he's been tired for the last couple of months, no.
Peter was physically exhausted.
You'd think the time when you just randomly found a new aspect to your quirk would be cool, right?
Not for Peter.
They had to start nearly every single design, idea, and schematic from scratch as to accommodate for how he used his bioelectricity.
And while Mei did all of that, Izuku ran him ragged with just using his new ability to get better at it.
So, 4 hours, two pizzas, and a brand new shirt Peter had to make from scratch later, which was a great way to use both his sewing skills and Mei's sewing machine, the two boys had gained a semi-decent understanding of his bioelectricity.
One of the main things was that Peter used it by somehow channeling and controlling his body's natural electricity, so it's not like he had an infinite amount to throw around.
Speaking of, using it actually drained his stamina. Which meant Peter would have to do some endurance training to be able to handle it better.
He could so far only channel it through his hands, but Izuku theorized that he could maybe let out some sort of area of effect attack with enough energy.
They also figured out that a small charge could quickly charge stuff like phones and electronics, so that was cool.
Lastly, Peter could absorb other electricity up to a set amount before his body started to be overwhelmed. Izuku described it as 'A bucket that can take out and hold water but will spill if you have too much.'
The green-haired boy always had the weirdest analogies.
He looked over himself as he sat on the train that would finally, finally take him home.
All he had to show from this little inventing hang out was a prototype of his new goggles, electricity powers, a semi-working prototype of a Web Grenade, and a new shirt that had his Noir jacket design.
He wasn't too keen on making merch to sell, but that didn't mean he wouldn't make merch of himself for himself.
He was his own number one fan, after all.
It was even made of silk! It was so comfortable.
How was he gonna train with his venom blasts? He'd need to research how to increase his stamina.
And just in time for the sports festival, right? He was sure it was an event people needed to train for, so they could get recognized more.
You know what? It wouldn't be so bad to win that.
Peter wasn't the most competitive person ever, but something about going against others at school made him want to do good.
To prove himself to the world or something like that.
So he should train, but what could he improve?
Regular workouts that were adjusted to his quirk might help his strength and speed, but what else?
The venom blast would be a no-brainer, but he was gonna do that already.
What part of his quirk could he improve?
Peter felt a familiar tingling in the back of his head; he shot around to see a man wearing a business suit walking across the cart.
His eyes trailed down to see he was about to slip on some soda can that was just lying there.
The boy shot his arm forward as the man stepped on the can and lost balance, his body starting to fall backward. Peter barely caught him before he could hit the floor.
"Oh, thanks, kid! You're a lifesaver!" The man gave a quick bow before he continued to walk down the car and into an empty seat.
Just like that, a lightbulb went off above his head.
He could try to train his spider-sense!
From what he understood, it kind of worked as a low level of precognition which then alerted him to things around him.
So going off of that, Peter could maybe use it for spacial awareness so that he could always know what's going on around him, right? Like a sort of radar!
And if it altered him to threats before they presented themselves, then couldn't he use it as a lie detector? Or maybe to know what's gonna happen to him before it happens!
He'd have to do that on his own time, he was meaning to ask someone to help with his bioelectricity.
[ Nejire (Vitality Lasers) ]
Spider: Nejire
Star: Peter! what's up?
Spider: you said your quirk takes stamina and stuff, right?
Star: yeah, it does! why do you ask? you wanna train together? that'd be so cool!
Spider: well… so I was hanging out with some friends from the support course and helping them make me a new suit when uh
Spider: I found out I'm electric now?
Star: what!?
Spider: yeah
Spider: apparently I can control my body's electricity or something now?
Spider: its super weird
Star: that's freaking crazy! you gotta tell me all about it!!
Spider: I barely understand it, I just know that my body can control its electricity and hold foreign electricity up to a cap or something.
Spider: and since actually using it takes my stamina and stuff I thought you might be able to help me out
Star: of course!! its sounds so freaking cool!! can you charge phones now or something??
Spider: maybe? I've only tried a power drill so far.
Star: oh my gosh, that's so cool!! I got a whole work out regiment to increase my endurance and stamina so you could use that! Idk if I can help with your new zappy powers tho
Spider: wait, you're gonna help me out?
Star: yeah! I get to find out more about your quirk, its super interesting!
Spider: thanks, man! I owe you one
...
Huh
He actually didn't expect for her to just agree to help him out right away.
Having friends to help you out is… kinda nice.
Wait, maybe he could ask her how to talk to Rumi!
When he asked May she started gushing about him having a crush and said something like 'be himself' It sounded super lame.
God, how was he gonna deal with that? Would he just start being weird around her or something now? Man, he didn't want that!
Was it one of those things where you gotta bottle them up until they go away or something? Or like, just get it out of the way?
If he confesses out of nowhere, then that'd be weird, and that would really hurt their friendship and makes things weird!
That'd suck! Rumi was like his best friend along with Izuku, he didn't wanna lose that!
Did he even like her? Was it one of those things where you start feeling random things after you almost die? He was pretty sure that was a thing.
She was just so pretty and cute and determined and strong and nice and cool to be around and bold and a bunch of other stuff while he was just…
Him.
Just Peter Parker.
What could she ever see in someone like him? He got to where he is by pure luck while she had to work hard her whole life, right?
There's no way she'd feel the same.
As Peter stepped off the train and walked through the Musutafu streets, his phone gave a light buzz. As he took out the device from his pocket, he smiled.
It was Rumi.
[ Rumi (Short Rabbit) ]
Rabbit: oi, dipshit
Rabbit: I need someone to spar with, so I can get better to win the sports festival
Rabbit: I ain't giving you a choice, im beating the shit outta you either way
Spider: uh, sure!
Spider: Fighting someone can help me test out some new things with my quirk, so I'm down.
Rabbit: shit, really? I haven't had someone to spar with in ages! fuck yeah!
Rabbit: wait, did you say some new things with your quirk?
Spider: yeah, I'm electric now
Rabbit: you're bullshitting me rn
Spider: dude, im not
Spider: im just electric now, its super weird
Spider: I just am
Rabbit: that's fucking sick!
Rabbit: I was gonna have you come by to spar tomorrow but we have a change of plans!
Spider: huh?
...
Just as he typed that, his phone rang as Rumi decided to call him.
"Uh, hello?" He answered the call as he walked though the vast crowds.
"Dude! You're electric now or something'?! That's fucking awesome! I just texted you the address for a boxing ring my dad owns, get over here!" She basically screamed in his ear, the pure excitement that came off her voice was amazing.
"Oh, sure! I'll be right there!" Peter quickly jogged his way back toward the train station since the address was all the way across the city.
"Fuck yeah! See ya soon, Peter!" And with that, she hung up. Peter only gave a light chuckle as he jogged.
When he heard her voice, that same warm and fuzzy feeling came over him again. As if he was being wrapped with a soft blanket.
All those ideas and insecurities he had on the train started to slip away as he pictured her in his mind.
That white hair, those red eyes, and smooth, tanned skin. She was just perfect, wasn't she?
As Peter got into the train and sat down, he looked out the window.
Peter just hoped there was something about him she could like, something that made him stand out. Something that could make her feel the same.
Man, Peter has never had a crush before, but this one is making him realize something.
Feelings suck.
A lot.
He couldn't change himself for her or something, that'd be lame. So, what could he do?
What did May say about liking a girl? Being yourself or something?
Maybe he'd try that.
While he wasn't too special, some parts of him were pretty spectacular.
