Artemis gave Edvin a long, withering look.
"Yes," she muttered under her breath, almost to herself. "Humans. Always turning away from the truth the moment it gets uncomfortable."
She folded her arms across her chest, her stance like that of someone long accustomed to dealing with the small-minded. The wind tugged slightly at the edge of her dark cloak.
"Well then. Address me however you like. But one thing is clear—" She stepped forward, eyes locking onto his with an unshakable finality. "I will still be needing your hands to kill that wolf."
Edvin's lip curled. His heart thundered against his ribs. The sword. The failed ambush. The way she appeared and disappeared as she wished. He hated being outmatched — hated it more than anything else.
